It does not get any better than this!
While staying at this waterfront condo, we got the best sleep EVER! The sea waves gently crashing near the balcony was a constant, soothing sound. The condo is furnished with everything you may need to cook a few meals while close enough to walk to a restaurant or two. Close to Red Hook and the ferry dock over to St John, we found ourselves actually doing more than we had planned. Secret Harbor beach is close by (with fabulous snorkeling) if you want an alternate beach to visit and Magens Bay is only 15 minutes away driving by car. I would recommend asking the owner, Bob, if you would like to rent a car as he was very knowledgeable and helpful in our planning of our trip prior to arriving. There is a gas grill we used more than once and A/C in the unit although there were several nights where we did not need it. The breeze coming off the ocean was enough. WIFI was working great while we were there and easy to access. There are a few step leading into the unit but very manageable. It was nice having 2 separate en-suite baths. The balcony has 2 separate tables seating 4 each for plenty of outdoor seating and relaxing. I can't say enough nice things about the condo and its location and there really wasn't anything I remember thinking I would have liked to have been different. Would highly recommend getting in touch with the owner about renting this nice, clean and beautiful condo.

Where to begin. First of all the description and photos are exactly what you can expect when you arrive. Our photos from the balcony look nearly identical to those in the listing. Bob and Pat are extremely responsive and willing to help or answer questions. We couldn’t be more pleased with our experience in the condo. Cowpet bay is beautiful and the beach being private meant it was never crowded or even very busy at all. We never had an issue getting chairs or a comfortable spot on the beach. It might not be the best beach on the island but don’t let that fool you it is beautiful nonetheless. We used the snorkeling gear in the condo and the bay didn’t disappoint. We saw stingrays, cuttlefish/squid, lots of sea urchin, puffer fish, conch, crab, and tons of fish. Check out the rocks on the left side of the bay and the clear area you can see right from the condo. On to food. Caribbean Fish Market and Sangria’s were both great for their convenience. They are not the cheapest options but that is to be expected. Unfortunately the Ritz is closed off to anyone expect guests which was a bit disappointing since they have 4 other restaurants and a shop on property that would have been nice to try. Groceries are not inexpensive compared to in the states. We bought eggs, bacon, tortillas, butter, a couple frozen pizza for something easy, hot sauce (which hopefully the next guests will get to enjoy as well), a small bottle of sunscreen, and a few other items and spent a Benjamin and half (it won’t let me post the amount for some reason). I’d guess there are local markets that would be more affordable but we don’t have a car rental to go explore. One thing worth noting and not specific to the condo or Cowpet bay. Read about NoSeeUms and be informed on how to deter them. They are horrid little pests much worse than I’ve ever experience with mosquitos. After our first two nights we had 60+ bites in our feet, ankles, and legs. At first we thought it was mosquitos but couldn’t quite figure out how we got so many without noticing and some google searching brought us to these buggers. They are no joke and precautions should be taken. This was a major distractor from our overall vacation because their bites itch to no end and because of their swarming you don’t just get one or two like you might from a mosquito. I’d stay off the beach around sunset/dusk or be sure to use bug spray with DEET ( in the condo). Use the natural stuff at your own risk

Great view; quiet, peaceful and relaxing.
We visited St Thomas in January 2018 not knowing what to expect in the aftermath of two, back-to-back, Cat 5 hurricanes last fall. What we found was amazingly good. We had a wonderful, two week vacation. The beaches were as beautiful as ever. Restaurants, bars, groceries and shops were open. A few still needed some work but will be open soon. Some resorts and hotels are not open yet but there is ongoing construction to get them open as soon as possible. The attitude of the locals is very positive and they were very appreciative that we were there. There are some areas on the island that still need a lot of work but we were able to do and enjoy everything we normally do when we vacation there. Weather was wonderful. The condo has a magnificent view and we enjoyed our morning coffee in peaceful bliss. Bob Ayars is a fantastic host. He is always responsive and available for helpful information and suggestions. Great time and place for a fabulous getaway!

Serenity, Beauty, Comfort, Convenience
We stayed in this property for 3 weeks in January. Great layout, very clean, lots of beach equipment available (chairs, towels, noodles, children's toys), very comfortable beds...but it all pales next to the view! It is simply breathtaking. Sitting on the spacious balcony every morning and watching the sunrise over the bay while the boats gently move on the clear turquoise water directly in front of the condo...then sitting there at night and watching the moon and stars is magical. It's a short (2 minute) walk to the beach, where the snorkeling is great, and the beach is wide and has abundant chaises and chairs. It's a 5 minute drive to Red Hook's restaurants and the ferry, a 2 minute drive to Sunset Grill at Secret Harbor where you can watch the sunset while having a delicious dinner, and a very short walk to the Caribbean Fish Market, a superb restaurant adjacent to Cowpet Bay and right on the beach. We also enjoyed the pretty pool at the Elysian Resort which is right next door to Cowpet Bay West. We also appreciated having the ability to do laundry with the washer and dryer in the unit. Bob is very accessible and responsive. We highly recommend this place.

Vacation in paradise
We spent a wonderful week in St. Thomas in June 2019! The island seems to be fully recovered from the hurricanes of 2017. The condo worked great for our family of 4. It is one minute away from a small private beach and a pool. The condo is very conveniently located. Red Hook with its restaurants, shops and ferry terminal is less than 10 min away. We traveled all over St. Thomas; everything was within 30 minutes of the condo. We also took a ferry to St. John twice to go to Trunk Bay. There are a lot of nice restaurants in Cruz Bay, St. John too. The condo is specious, clean, though a bit outdated. It could use some new frying pans and the patio furniture could be updated too. But the view from the balcony is absolutely stunning! We had a breakfast on the balcony every day and a drink every night. Even though the temperature outside was in mid-80, we didn’t have to use AC at all. We just opened the slats in the front door and the balcony door to create draft. That was enough to cool down the place. A tip: If you want to do touristy things, e.g. visit Coral World or Megan’s Bay, check the schedule for the St. Thomas port and do it when there are no ships (or one smaller ship) in the harbor. The traffic is so much better and there are no crowds anywhere.

Qaulity Island Time
We recently had the pleasure of visiting our favorite vacation spot - St Thomas. This is our third stay in the past 5 years in this condo. The view is absolutely amazing. The sun rises each morning directly across the bay. The balcony offers a great view of this and a shaded place in the afternoon to enjoy cocktails and company. The condo was completely furnished with everything we needed during our stay. The outdoor grill came in handy for grilling that perfect steak or seafood. The kitchen was well stocked with all the cooking utensils we needed. Red Hook was a 5 minute drive away. Tap n Still, Island Time Pizza and Fish Tails were some of our favorite options. Our late morning and early afternoons were spent on the very nearby beach. This beach almost feels as if it is your own private beach. A little rocky this year but tolerable. We found all our neighbors to be friendly and considerate. The grounds were very well maintained and we were surprised by how beautiful everything came back after the 2 hurricanes last year. If we had one suggestion, the furniture in the sitting area could use a bit of a refresh. While tropical in theme and functional, it does lack a certain degree of comfort. But hey, whose there to sit on a couch anyways - it's St Thomas!
