Amazing stay at Balcones!
We had a wonderful stay with our 6 and 3 year old children at this penthouse at Balcones. It was perfect for our family. The downstairs area was comfortable and clean and the roof top area was spacious and spectacular. The new outdoor kitchen in great and the kids loved the jacuzzi. We love Balcones for the pools, great beach with kids area and, of course, Porto. Mari was so easy to work with. Highly recommend all around!  Read more

RELAXING
We had a wonderful experience on our visit to Las Terranas! The home of the Bowers is beautiful, clean and comfortable. The flexible help of the maid Ramona was great, she is accessible and very good at what she does...all accompanied with a smile. When the jacuzzi didn't heat up the first night, they fixed the problem the next day. Other than that everything worked as it should. We would highly recommend this home to anyone and the beach is very close and beautiful. Shallow and easy to get in and CLEAN! There are also lovely pools on the property. When we went it was wonderfully quiet...but if you go on a DR holiday time you can expect that your neighbors will be enjoying themselves and it may be a bit noisy sitting on the porches, but the bedrooms have AC so you can sleep like a baby. If you can go, dont think twice...you will love it, it is the best place to stay in Las Terranas! Read more

Loved our stay at Balcones
We are a couple with a 13 year old daugher and we spent one week at this beautiful resort condo to ring in the New Year. The condo is very well equipped: king size bed in the master, two beds in the second bedroom and both bedrooms have their private complete bathrooms. The kitchen has a stainless steel gas stove, fridge, microwave and dishwasher The two terraces are great but we especially enjoyed the ultra spacious rooftop terrace with the jacuzzi To top it all, the condo is really well maintained daily by the lovely Ramona. The location is absolutely amazing We loved hanging out in the daybeds at the resort beach Everything is super clean, the resort is safe, the staff is courteous. The caipirinhas, pina coladas and mojitos were great as well! Make sure to check the sunset at the Mosquito Bar. As much as we loved the resort, we also like to move around and be active, so we rented a quad for the week. This enabled us to go kitesurfing (but you can walk to the spot from Balcones) and surfing at Playa Coson (which we highly recommend). We also were able to try various restaurants in the area, our favorite meal was at Chez Sandro. We sincerely enjoyed our stay in Las Terrenas and really loved Balcones del Atlantico and the beautiful condo.  Read more

Amazing Holiday in Las Terrenas
We are a couple in our early 40's. We went to the Dominican Republic for a weeks rest and relaxation after a busy Christmas in the UK. We flew into Puerta Plata. The owners of the penthouse had arranged for a local car hire company, called Richard Cars to pick us up and take us to Las Terrenas. Richard himself picked us up. We hired the car for our weeks stay. Richard and his wife Theresa were very helpful and friendly. It had also been arranged for us to be taken back to the airport for our return journey. For those who don't speak Spanish, Richard speaks good English. The penthouse is beautiful, tastefully furnished, very spacious and has everything and more that you would need for a self catering luxury holiday. The rooftop terrace was fantastic and the hot tub gave it that extra luxury feel. The views were amazing, we could see the beach from one side and the lush green terrain from the other. The maid Ramona is lovely and I got used to the lovely cups of coffee she would make for me. We spent most of our week on the resort beach, we went for walks, swam and also went snorkelling. We ate mostly in the Porto Restaurant while we were there. The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. The staff were great and nothing was too much trouble for them. The delicious pina coladas were too easy to order. We did drive in the car to Playa Bonita, a good beach, great for watching the surfers while drinking the milk from a fresh coconut. We then drove further round to Playa Coson, another good beach for watching the surfers. We tried out Restaurant Louis, we ate their fresh fish which was fantastic. Definitely worth a visit. We also tried Pizza Coco, further along the road towards Las Terrenas, this was also good. At the end of the beach close to Las Terrenas, is were the local fishermen bring in their catch of the day to sell. Around 10.30 daily. We bought prawns, but there were plenty of different things to choose from, octopus, yabbies, crabs etc. We had an amazing holiday and would love to return. The owners of this penthouse are helpful and communicative. Read more

Peaceful Luxury
This property is stunning though pictures don't even begin to capture it. I traveled with 2 adult family members for our birthdays {all 3 of us} and we had the time of our lives. It was low season and the perfect time to go as June is a very dry month here so not much rain. Inside, the penthouse is spacious and spotless with luxury touches throughout...granite, tile, professional appliances, lots of fans, comfortable furnishings, firm beds. The A/C in bedrooms was nice, too. Shopping is easy at Lindo Mercado in town and I loved cooking in the very gourmet-supplied kitchen. We enjoyed dinners and cool breezes on our terrace. Porto restaurant was a quick walk through the garden area to the beach. Very good food, excellent attentive service. Upstairs, our private "rooftop" offered a whole other living space and dining area--covered yet open air--and included the private hot tub with gorgeous views of the ocean, especially beautiful in early morning. El Portillo beach was breathtaking, nearly secluded, less than 80 yards from the home. There's a beach hut with free snorkel gear and kayaks. I appreciate that security men were everywhere but I never saw anyone even remotely threatening and we felt very safe. We booked private tours through "Tour Samana with Terry" for nearby El Limon Waterfall and a zipline excursion and they picked us up so no need to drive there. {They were also FABULOUS & spoke great English}. We also booked a boat ride tour through Las Haitises National Park, definitely worth exploring caves and islands. Ramona, the housekeeper, was friendly and thorough but does not speak any English and giggled at my poor Spanish. We really loved how quiet and peaceful the place was but perhaps it's because of low season. Mari, the owner, is very responsive and went out of her way to help make this a perfect trip for us, even emailed me after check-in to make sure everything met our needs & expectations. I could not have asked for a better experience. {Note: If driving Highway 5 to here, you will need 500 pesos for toll to enter the road. We didn't exchange enough & the guards were armed extortionists who took $20 in American money & offered no change.} Read more

GREAT PROPERTY, WONDERFUL VACATION AT BALCONES!
This penthouse at Balcones del Atlantico in Las Terrenas is spectacular! The apartment surpassed our expectations, everything was immaculate and well decorated. Balcones is very nice (resort style, beautiful gardens, swimming pool, etc) and the beach is beautiful! I recommend to rent a car or a four wheel at Terrenas to move around. There are supermarkets in the village to buy groceries and also there are plenty of restaurants to eat but are not at a distance that you can walk from Balcones (only one restaurant at Balcones). This is better since Balcones is more private and away from the noise and activity of the village or "Pueblo de los Pescadores" (Fishermen's village is how the locals call the heart of the village). We stayed from Thursday to Sunday and enjoyed so much our vacation that my family wants to go back and spend more time at Las Terrenas, it's a paradise. The owner provided an excellent customer service sending all the information we needed regarding the apartment and she was always in contact with us. We did not have any problem getting back our deposit. We definitely would rent this apartment again and we already recommended to our friends and family members.  Read more
