Lovely stay in charming B&B in Pacific Grove

The property was well located on the main street of downtown Pacific Grove, with plenty of parking around it. Lots of restaurants within a short walk, and the waterfront with lovely walking/biking trails was only 4-5 blocks away. The rooms were well appointed with good amenities including a coffee maker, refrigerator, iron, and fan. In addition, there was coffee, tea, cookies, and water/soda available 24 hours in the lobby area. The overall decor was very charming with lovely flowers in and around the property; lots of nice touches. The breakfast was good with enough choices, and the evening wine/cheese reception was a pleasant surprise. And there was a nice LCD TV with a decent number of cable channels.

The room (Jewell) was listed as having a Queen bed but it felt more like a Full size - this is a trend that is increasingly seen in many hotels these days. When you say Queen, lets make sure it is Queen. And the pillow top mattress was too squishy for me. It was a not a problem for us, but during the day (9-6 pm) parking is restricted to 2 hours which may be a problem for some.

Clean, friendly, and modern conveniences in a historic inn. Not the grand dam she used to be.

The staff and hospitality was superb!

We were disappointed in the decor. We remember previous trips, like time travel, back to a different era, with all the antiques and old fashioned furniture. The remodeling brought the Gosby house "up-to-date," but we feel it has lost its unique charm. Sadly, we will probably not return.

Warm, friendly and family run feel

Located in the downtown area of Pacific Grove this hotel provides a small, friendly, family run feel. It is a converted large family home built in the Victorian era so has plenty of character and old fashioned features. Our room, The Jewell, was adapted for mobility use so it had a large wet room. The bed was extremely comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. The only downside was there was no hanging rail for our clothing, only hat and coat hooks in a cupboard with 4 hangers. As we were staying for 4 nights a facility to hang clothes would have been preferable, although there was a steamer in the room to iron clothes. Wine, cheese, crackers and a cake were provided free of charge every day between 4 - 6pm, which was a lovely touch, and provided an opportunity to meet and talk to other hotel guests. We found this a great social forum and very interesting way to learn more about America and American life.

The only suggestion for improvement we would have was that our room was on the ground floor next to the breakfast room and kitchen. At 6am the staff began work preparing breakfast and were quite noisy, clattering plates and cooking utensils disturbing our sleep. A minor point in the scheme of positives, but, something that could be considered and addressed.

Pleasant home away from home

It was a nice stay in a great location downtown Pacific Grove. Very surprised with the wine and cheese hour daily. The room was quiet and comfortable. Gosby house made us feel at home

Would have been more convenient to have a little more counter space on the bathroom vanity. The bathroom was updated and spacious. Offering additional vanity counterspace would have made the visit much more comfortable.

Overall excellent, welcoming stay at a beautiful hotel in a lovely town and great location.

Unique, historical property with a modern twist. we loved the attention to detail, excellent cleanliness and friendly staff who offered a personalised experience.

The only thing that could be improved is being able to open the windows as they were sash windows that didn’t stay open.

Would love to stay again but hoping to get a quieter room.

Great location and staff. Included breakfast and happy hour were also great.

Room was noisy and you could hear nearby doors being slammed and any vacuuming in the vicinity of the room.

Charming stay

We enjoyed staying in The Trimmer. The room was charming, the fireplace was very cozy with a good size gas flame, the bed was very comfortable, the patio was very enjoyable in the afternoon. We took our wine and snacks outside to eat. The breakfast was yummy and it was served late enough so we could sleep in a bit. Also, it was a very quiet room. The location is awesome, you can easily walk to lots of shops, restaurants and the beach.

The bathroom fixtures were a bit tarnished and the bathroom was small, no place to put things. The staff were nice, but at one point my husband had a question and the only staff member was on the phone for a long time, he returned a couple times and finally got an answer to his question about 15 minutes later.

The gosby Inn is a nice alternative to the commercial hotels. The wine and cheese in the afternoon was nice and breakfas

It was away from the hustle and bustle of Monterey and Carmel

Parking was a challenge. It was even more challenging due to a two day festival going on in front of inn over the weekend, so parking was limited.

Fantastic time and base to explore the area.

Great food, homemade quality. The cheese and wine tasting between 4-6. Location and ambiance .

Room lacked facilities for bathroom storage of wash bags .

The breakfast was good and I liked the fresh baked coffee cake and biscuits.

My son said the oatmeal was not good, he is vegan so that was his main option.

An ultra charming, peaceful & above par bed and breakfast that everyone should experience.

Such a cozy, quaint & tasteful B&B. This booking exceeded our expectations and we didn’t want to leave when it came time to check out. It felt so much like home by the time we left, like we were leaving our home. Such a sweet, safe, peaceful & dreamy place. We want to go back to Pacific Grove for this B&B alone.

Not much can be improved, it’s already such a great facility. Only thing I would recommend would be more food quantity during breakfast as people tend to get cranky when they haven’t had their eggs haha.

Very good

Great location, beautiful lobby, nice room, coffee, cold drinks and cookies available

Our room was next to the stairs, we had occasional noise from people going up and down and light coming out of the corridor at night Breakfast was good but the room was crowded - no place to sit down and the food disappeared before we had our turn and then had to wait a long time for the next available batch and eat in the lobby with no table available

best place ever!

everything ! I was in a ground floor room separate from the main building. it had a large patio, fireplace, two reading chairs, a large bathtub spa, a separate shower & toilet, bathrobe. Hot breakfast & afternoon wine/cheese snack.

A nice place and wonderful location but the work to improve the property needs to be tackled quickly

The Gosby was a perfect location where we wanted to spend a complete week

There was renovation work in the public areas throughout our stay which we had not been informed of. It did not impact us overly but the breakfast area was affected

quaint B&B in a great location

the location, great breakfast/snacks, parking right in front was very convenient

The room was a bit more spare than it appeared in photographs on the website. the bed was squeaky, the room needed a rug to be More cozy. Also they were doing renovation in the lobby/common area that I was not aware of

We look forward to staying there again.

Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of choices each day. The room was comfortable and the location, to the rear of the inn was great. The inn is within walking distance to restaurants, the coast and walking trails along the shore.

I would have liked one brighter light in the room because I am a reader but there were other areas where you could sit and read outside your room. Just a small quibble really.

Fantastic place to stay, with extra treats!

Great location, lots of good restaurants within 5 mins walk. Hotel rooms were lovely, comfy bed, coffee and tea always available. Breakfast excellent and extra touch of cheese and wine early evening was fantastic. Thoroughly recommend, much better than a soulless motel!

Very relaxing

Breakfast was fantastic. Great variety of fruits cereal and tasty eggs. Everything was prepared and presented very well Everyone was friendly and enjoyed their meal. We will be back
