Just outside Yosemite national park. The host was nice and we could even charge our EV. The breakfast is more than superb for such a small hotel.

A beautiful establishment. So well appointed and cute. Staff are amazing. We highly recommend.

Nothing it is perfect

spacious rooms, comfortable bed! a little further out from Yosemite but close enough to a town with great food options. really enjoyed the amazing freshly prepared breakfast which came with our stay!

Quite, great location and picturesque. we loved the breakfasts, snacks and afternoon wine.

The Hounds Tooth Inn is a very attractive and welcoming property just out of Oakhurst. Our room was in the main Inn building towards the end of the corridor and could be reached either via the Reception/guest lounge/breakfast room or via a secondary, outside set of stairs. The Inn's decor is very soothing in neutral tones of cream and grey and the furniture is very comfortable and inviting. Our room was a good size and had plenty of area for storing our luggage, shoes and clothing as well as plenty of counter top area for extra use. The bathroom was well equipped and even though there was a shower curtain instead of a door, the water did not leak out. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the room and bathroom were nice and clean. It was handy having a refrigerator in the room and although there was a coffee machine, a kettle and tea bags would also have been a nice addition as not everyone likes coffee (these were available in the guest lounge, just not in the room). The guest lounge offers tea, coffee, hot chocolate, snacks and other drinks which are all available 24 hours and Reception is also manned 24 hours. Wine and canapes were served every evening from 17:00-19:00 and breakfast is served daily in the guest lounge also. All three mornings that we were there it was a buffet-style hot selection as well as toast, cereals, yoghurt and fruit. It was all very nicely done!

The Reception/guest lounge was often unbearably hot and stuffy with the gas fire going full bore. The toilet area in the bathroom could do with a light of some description. We had a situation on our last night where we woke to no power at 02:30 (it was apparently a scheduled outage which was due to finish at 07:00). Nothing was mentioned about this scheduled outage (a note placed under the door in the evening would have been sufficient and helpful) which effected not only the lights but also the water which must have been on a pump. We could therefore not flush the toilet, shower or use the sink until the power came on later than expected just after 08:00. We were very glad this did not happen the previous day when we were picked up for a full day Yosemite tour at 08:00 as we would have had to go out for the day feeling grotty from not being able to shower. We felt we should have been notified about the outage as the Reception staff seemed to know all about it when we came down at 07:00 and told us it was "scheduled". We also had an issue with not being able to pay using a pay terminal. We were told that the machine had broken some time ago and the owners were still trying to get a replacement via their insurance. As a consequence of this we were unable to use our travelcard which was preloaded with USD and had to go to a bank and incur quite steep extra charges to withdraw cash or be faced with using our Australian card and having to pay the exchange rate. With international travel again on the rise, it would be good if this issue was sorted out immediately to avoid unnecessary extra charges for other international guests.
