Log House - Rustic Luxury Hideaway with a Hot Tub, Fire Pit on 40 private acres
About this cabin rental
Located in Sierra Nevada, this lovely cabin for $326 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. The Log House is charming with a century old history based on its original log Great Room. While fully maintaining the charm of its history, the Log House has been brought into current times with all the modern conveniences including an outdoor Hot Tub. In the cabin you’ll find all the amenities you will need in this recently renovated 2 bedroom cozy cabin with 2 baths. When you walk into the Log House, you won't find the musty stuffiness, typical of many vacation rentals. It is fresh and clean with a pleasing blend of new vintage and contemporary furnishings. The modern kitchen has all new solid stone surface counters and is decorated to look and feel like an old style farm house. You will also find it fully stocked with pots, pans, bakeware and an array of spices. The cabin décor is professionally done to feel comfy with great function. There are 3 flat screen smart TV's, free Wi-Fi and some cell services that work well. Complimentary Netflix movies are provided in the living room. The cabin can sleep 4 comfortably with central air conditioning and heating. A bbq and picnic table are nearby along with a fire pit that can be used (except during times of higher fire risk). The outside area is large and level, making it a great place for kids to play, ride bikes and explore nearby. Don't be surprised if you see some wildlife while sitting on the patios. There are hiking trails on the 40 acres property for any days you want to stay and relax at home. The living room, dining area and kitchen are all open, allowing you to enjoy watching your favorite movies or shows and to stay warm with the original stone hearth fireplace in those cooler months. There is also central air-conditioning and heat for your comfort any time of the year (a rare, desirable feature in such a rustic home, as opposed to the typical noisy bedroom wall units). You'll also find a fully equipped interior laundry room. Natural materials were used to accent the home’s history lending to its warmth and the charm of times gone by. Look and you’ll see features in the home that are nearly 100 years old. Set on 40 acres, the property will invite you to take leisurely hikes and enjoy the forested and scenic views. You can see the Sierras from locations on the property. Peace and quiet are the best things you’ll notice when you stay at the Log House Retreat. It is set back just off the main route 49, near the historic town of Mariposa and is half way between two entrances to Yosemite Park. You’ll want to sample both easy but different drives into Yosemite - either via the west entrance with HWY 140 along the valley floor beside the Merced River or via the south entrance with HWY 41 through the Sierra mountains. This location is a great place to retreat to after a busy day with the crowds of summer in Yosemite. This rustic luxury retreat is just a short drive from the old gold mining town of Mariposa (www.yosemite.com/things-to-do). It is perfectly located halfway between both Yosemite entrances – so you can experience the unique beauty of each. The cabin is also a great hideaway in the fall, winter and spring. As the temperature drops, the property, with its special setting, may welcome you with a beautiful snowscape. If you need more space for a family reunion or get together of friends, several hundred feet away on the 40 acre property, you can also reserve our sister property, the 3 Bedroom Cottage Retreat - winner of over 110 Five Star Reviews. And 3 miles away , you can also reserve our 2 Bedroom Valerian Retreat - winner of over 150 five star reviews (bit.ly/YosemiteRusticLuxuryRetreats). Come and visit! You won’t want to leave. The Log House Retreat is a great starting location for day trips to many points of interest: To Yosemite through west entrance – Go north on route 49 to reach the arch rock highway 140 entrance that takes you through the historic town of Mariposa and along the valley floor of the scenic Merced River canyon. It is a beautiful drive which will take you about 45 minutes to an hour to reach the park. There are many places along the road to stop and enjoy the wild and scenic river. This area is known for spectacular wild flower viewing. To Yosemite through south entrance – Go south on route 49 to reach Oakhurst - a larger town with many services, dining and shopping options. In Oakhurst, you will turn left onto highway 41 east to wind your way up the mountain into Yosemite Park through the quaint little villages of Fish Camp and Wawona – both places of many interests. Near Wawona is the must see Mariposa Grove of giant redwoods. As you drive further toward Yosemite just after the tunnel, be sure to pull off to see the spectacular view of the Yosemite valley from above. • Bass lake is located fifteen minutes from Oakhurst. It is a hopping place during warm weather for water sports and just catching some sun and a picnic for the day. Bass lake offers water sports rentals, shops, casual as well as fine dining options. 'Ducey's on the Lake' is a favorite restaurant. • There are 3 local golf courses just minutes away: Sierra Meadows, River Creek and Wawona; the latter is just inside Yosemite. • During the winter months you can travel to Badger Pass to enjoy downhill and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. • Many of the communities have many other activities throughout the year! On local websites you can find events like festivals, the arts and wineries to explore. Mariposa has a zip line and river rafting in the summer, as well as horseback riding on forested trails. • Mariposa has its own airport just 10 minutes from town and 20 minutes from the cabin. Car rentals are available at the airport with advance reservations. • Fresno international Airport is about 1 hour and 15 minute drive to the cabin. Log House Retreat is owned by Cottage Retreats LLC.

The property is located under a dark night sky that is an astrophotographer’s dream. We spent several nights looking at the stars. The house is comfortable and the kitchen has everything needed to make home cooked meals. Bathrooms were clean and the showers worked well. It was very quiet at night and we slept very well. It’s about an hour’s driving time to Yosemite NP and about an hour and twenty minutes to return. I would recommend the log cabin if you want to be close enough to Yosemite and also have plenty of space to relax and explore the property.

House was wonderful, clean and very cozy! Property was beautiful and only 45 minutes to entrance of Yosemite. Enjoyed the little town of mariposa and overall a wonderful vacation! I did lock us out of the house but Connie was so gracious and as soon as I called her she was there letting us in! Rated this 5 stars as everything was perfect!

The place was very clean and in great condition. It's a great little country getaway.
Just one note of caution if you're heading to Yosemite; it's over an hour away from the Yosemite Valley so plan accordingly.

During our 3 week roundtrip we stayed for three nights in this beautiful cabin with its very tasteful furnishings to visit Yosemite National Park. We were very much looking forward to our stay, the fotos were very promising, and we were not disappointed! It is a perfect place to relax, calm down and cook a nice meal, the kitchen is perfectly equipped. The communication with Ted was very pleasant and helpful and we got a lot of good tips for dinner and shopping. Also the contact lady (unfortunately we forgot her name) was extremely friendly and helpful when we had difficulty with a door. We recommend this cabin to everyone who enjoyes tasteful design, nature, wildlife and quiteness. We wish we could come again, but Germany is quite far away...Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful place with us, Ferial, Reinhard and Johan

Beware - We tried....but could not stay and nearly had no lodging at all that night due to owner's door lock failures. After finding electronic lock dead, we waited for Property Manager to resolve, but lock still didn't work, hidden lockbox had no key, and PM had no backup key. Thus, access was not provided within the 45 minutes we waited.
As night was approaching, we told owner and left to find alternative room (visiting two towns before finding vacancy).- 35 minutes after we left, owner emailed "Please respond that you will be returning so that we can take care of the lock." (I guess in hopes... but not assurances of fixing ... meaning even more time and risk of no room within hours of Yosemite. We were driving and didn't see that until later.
Despite owner's failure to provide use of the cabin, he did not refund and VRBO classified this a late owner cancelation and NO REFUND of the $966 we paid in advance!!!

This place was perfect for us. It is exactly between two Yosemite entrances. Great balance of exterior “rustic” and upgraded interior. Nice quiet open space….we were able to see the stars for the first time in a while.
Ted and Connie were great hosts and went the extra mile to share local details and things to do.

Spacious cabin with fully equipped kitchen, clean and comfortable bed and sofas for lounging. Quiet surroundings - tranquil and peaceful - to relax and get away from the day to day hustle and bustle. About 1.5 hours easy drive to Yosemite Valley. Drive was beautiful.
We had a wonderful stay!!

Our family highly recommend the Log House! It’s location to Yosemite was great as we went to the park daily during our 4 days. The cabin is exceptionally clean, updated and comfortable. We appreciated the fresh ground Mariposa Coffee, delicious! Everything we needed was available and the host was very quick to respond to a question we had. Sitting outdoors under the stars in the peaceful quiet was relaxing, and just what we had hoped for on this trip!

Me and my husband absolutely loved staying at this cabin! The entire property exceeded our expectations, and we plan to come back and stay here at least once a year around our anniversary going forward. Ted was also fantastic with communication, as there were a lot of changes with access to Yosemite leading up to our stay. We cannot say enough good things about our experience. We hope to bring family up here as well!

It has all you need, kitchen well stocked, great beds and warm bedding, laundry room, wonderful living space with the best fireplace. Nevermnd the fact we can bring our furry family member as well. terrific location and very private. No close neighbors to disturb the cozy cabin in the hills of Mariposa. The entire inside was updated to modern conveniences with a decorators flair. Enjoyed my walks within the 40 acre property. I'd like to see it in the winter when there is snow on the ground!

We loved this property. It was nice and clean and well stocked. It is remote but neighbors are close enough but not too close. Loved walking the two trails nearby. Great property if you have a dog. Dawn

Although Yosemite is a little over an hour away from the cabin we wouldn’t have it any other way. This is the cutest little cabin with such home-y vibes. Love how secluded the property is and the amount of wildlife just hanging out around the place! The night sky and stars were also so awesome to see without so much pollution. All in all great experience. Will definitely come back again!
