About this cabin rental

Nestled in Oklahoma, this charming cabin for $230 per night is a great choice for your next trip. 📸 Check us out on TikTok and Instagram for more incredible views: @bearcreekvacations Hey! You’ve made it to The Cliffhouse where the locals describe as “the best view in all of McCurtain County - period,” making it a very special place. There are no neighbors and you are secluded. Sounds awesome, right? But, please read the description in its entirety to ensure this special and unique place is for you! This 1,000 square foot cabin sits atop a mountain on 80 acres overlooking Broken Bow Lake. Being surrounded by 6,000 acres of National Forest and US Corp of Engineer land provides unparalleled hiking, mountain biking and bird watching right from your doorstep. The 600 square foot deck faces the lake and has incredible panoramic views. The Cliffhouse is entirely off-grid. We produce our own power, water (well), hot water and have our own septic system. We are 100% green and still have all the luxuries of home! Because we are green; however, we do have to choose which luxuries we would like to have. In our efforts to conserve energy, we have decided to opt out of bath and hot tubs in all of our mountain cabins. The Cliffhouse is on its own well, separate from the other three cabins, therefore, it does have a washer and dryer. We also have a filter, but please be sure to bring bottled water for drinking if this makes you uncomfortable. ○ Bedroom 1: Downstairs bedroom with a Queen bed ○ Bedroom 2: A 350 square foot loft with breathtaking views overlooking the lake accessed via ships ladder with a Queen bed and Full futon ○ Bathroom 1: Full bathroom with a shower downstairs ○ Bathroom 2: Half-bathroom downstairs Note: The ships ladder may not be suitable for children under ten years old. 🚨 We realize that this is where most like to stop reading, but we ask that you please scroll a little more to review the important information for the drive in and more! 🚨 ✨ DRIVE IN / ACCESS ✨ The mountain cabins sit 5 miles off of Highway 259 and is accessed by US Forest Service roads. It’s a beautiful drive and we oftentimes see white tail deer, turkey, and birds of prey including red tail hawks and various owls! You will need a vehicle with some clearance as well as a bit of driving skill to make it in. 4WD and/or AWD is NOT necessary, but helpful. → We strongly suggest: ○ a small, medium or large SUV ○ any size truck ○ a crossover → We strongly advise against: ○ a minivan ○ a sedan or coupe The first 2 miles of the drive are easy and you can drive 25 mph. The remaining 3 miles are slower and requires some attention. You will cross 4 or 5 small creeks on the way in. Water is rarely more than 4 inches deep. The roads are rocky and bumpy, but will not ever be muddy. There are also grades up to 12% on gravel roads. This means you will travel up the mountain until you have reached our mountain top. Don't have a vehicle that meets the requirements, but still want to visit? We have partnered with Marc at Red Dirt Car Service and have several happy guests that have already used this transportation service! Please send an inquiry for more information. ✨ TECHNOLOGY & CELL SERVICE ✨ The Cliffhouse now has Starlink and there is cell phone service! Verizon and AT&T work best, while Sprint and T-Mobile are limited. There are no TVs or cable. You will need to bring your own entertainment and pre-download your movies on your own device before arriving. Bear Creek Vacations is not responsible for reliability of internet or outages from service provider. WiFi is provided as a convenience only and is not integral to the use the property. No refund of payments shall be given for outages, content, lack of content, speed, access problems, lack of knowledge of use or personal preference regarding services. ✨ BOATS, TRAILERS & ATVs, oh my! ✨ → Boats & Trailers: Please do not try to bring a boat up to any of our cabins on the mountain! You will likely regret it, we promise! 😉 All jokes aside, Beavers Bend Marina has slips that you can rent for your stay and it’s super convenient to leave your boat in the water. They can also provide a place to leave your trailer! → ATVs: You can ride straight into the Ouachita National Forest from our property! Please check with the US Forest Service for all laws regarding ATV riding. It’s possible for a group of riders to rack up several thousand dollars in fines. Bear Creek Vacations will not be held responsible for any tickets, violations or accidents. ✨ GRILL & FIRE ✨ The grill is propane and directly wired into the house. Instead of a propane tank, you will see a timer. There is a fire pit. Please bring matches. Our cleaning service no longer provides firewood. ✨ MAX OCCUPANCY ✨ Two couples or a family of five. Due to fire marshal regulations and insurance purposes, the number of guests per cabin is strictly enforced. Additionally, our off-grid systems cannot sustain more than the max number of guests. ✨ PUP-FRIENDLY ✨ Maximum of 2 dogs allowed. No cats. Pet Fee: $150 per stay. Please review house rules and pet policy prior to bringing your pets to avoid additional charges. → Check out our other mountain cabin rentals: ○ Summit House: VRBO listing #807469 ○ Bella Vista: VRBO listing #1067729 ○ The Phoenix Rising: VRBO listing #1282867

We absolutely loved our stay at the Cliffhouse! It was so serene to wake up to the incredible sunrise and views of the mountains and water. We are already hoping to plan a trip back. It was just the relaxing and “unplugged” vacation that we needed!

Check in was a bit of a mess…walked through front door and it was hot inside, no air conditioning or fan was running and couldn’t find any towels or hand soap in either bathroom (checked the dryer and found it full of wet towels…and finally managed to find some hand soap under the kitchen sink). Immediately notified Ashley, the Property Manager, and she responded promptly…was very apologetic, we actually talked on the phone to go over the issues so she could report back to the cleaning company. She was going to have them come back out, but I told her they didn’t need to, I had already put the wet towels back in the washer and found soap, so there was really no need. I’ll add, Ashley was awesome through all of this, she even helped with a few questions I had prior to check in, so she deserves major kudos for being so helpful with the different aspects of my trip. The rest of the stay at the cabin was fine, I guess…the hike to the lake is always a beautiful one, but the noise level and loose dogs (dirt bike ridden right by cabins vs. taking it onto the forrest trails), negated the seclusion and peace and quiet. Out of the four trips I’ve made to the Bear Creek cabins, this is the first one I considered leaving early…between having to finish making the cabin ready before I could really start my vacation and the noise level…this was not the trip I wanted or needed.

We stayed here 5 years ago and been looking to come back ever since. Enjoyed the beautiful view through the large windows feom the cuffy couch and on the deck. Sunrises are the best. Clean and reasonably stocked with cooking supplies. We brought food and cooked everyday to save the trip into town. Enjoyed the grueling 2 mile hike down to the lake. Lots of up and down both directions (400 feet elevation change). The starlink internet wasn't too bad if you need to use it. We tried not to. About the only complaint is that the downstairs bed is only a full size.

Our stay was pleasantly more than expected. Very private and very quiet. We stargazed and observed the harvest super moon. We will definitely be back again!

Drive to this cabin is well worth it. View of lake and mountains is by far best we've ever had at Broken Bow area and we've been going to lake since 2009!! Sunrise and sunsets are breathtaking. Cabin and deck are exactly as listed. Plan to come back next year for sure!

The last time we stayed in Hochatown we stayed in a fancier cabin near the highway/main stretch however there was constant noise. During the day it was kids running around screaming or the 20 somethings partying late into the night. The Cliff House is the opposite. All you hear are the birds during the day and crickets at night. The road to get to the place requires a truck or an off road capable SUV. You will be driving on rock piles, with big dips and bumps. The cabin was clean. The bed downstairs was okay, not great. The shower was above average, plenty of water pressure. The stove has sensitive controls. "3" on the burners is fairly high heat. Keep the flame low or your eggs will burn. Watching the thunderstorms was incredible with the big windows. There was a lightning strike very close which shook the cabin. Lots of large spiders, lizards and toads outside. The view of the stars at night is great. If you want to get away from the crowds, this is the spot.

As you can see in the pictures the view is amazing, however even knowing that ahead of time it was still shocking just how amazing it is in person! We stood on the deck admiring that view over and over again - it's that beautiful!! The cabin itself was also perfect. It is very nice and very well stocked with all the supplies you need for cooking, etc. Everything was very clean and comfortable too. The wifi worked perfectly for us and we had no trouble with cell service (we are with AT&T. If peace and quiet and total seclusion is what you are looking for this is your place! We would highly recommend it!!! Let me also say - please read what they say in the description about the road that leads to the property. We didn't have any trouble driving our Ford Escape up there but you do have to take it slow and easy as they say! It is a beautiful drive through the forest though and we did see a lot of deer and some wild turkeys as well!

Couldn’t believe the views that OK had from this property. The house was perfect for two, but could fit a small family easy. The porch and views were worth the scary drive up! Can’t wait to come back to this house and the others close by. We tubed the river, fished, played golf, and watched the meteor shower from the front porch.
