breakfast è buono il resto dei pranzi e cene potevano essere molto meglio. molto bello il kruger park quindi la location.
non era presente nella sala ristorante l'aria condizionata e questo era un problema. inoltre il cibo non è molto buono a parte la colazione.

An older camp but definitely made up for it with location, animal sightings, comfort, great food and overall great experience. Would highly recommend, especially if tight on time and want to get to the lodge without driving too long once inside Kruger Park.
Everything was fine.

Camp Shawu is my favorite destination in Kruger, situated right by the dam, you can see lots of animals in between game drives. Accommodation is spacious with a beautiful bed. Great breakfast. We had Sifiso as our ranger and he is the greatest guy to have. He went the extra mile to check for Leopard and we were rewarded with the most amazing sighting. Elephant seems to pass the units between 12 and 1pm and 8/9pm… what a sight…
The tent structure bits need a bit of maintenance and not all could be tied down because torn off, so the flapping was quite noisy during a windy night.

Our game ranger Simon was absolutely amazing! We saw lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, buffalos, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, giraffes, impala, wildebeest, antelope, hippos, crocodiles, warthogs, kudus, porcupines, guinea pigs, guinea fowls, jackels, civet, monkeys, baboons and many bird species including eagles and vultures. Simon's spotting skills are excellent, he even spotted animals in the dark.
The staff at the lodge are extremely friendly and welcoming. The chef is awesome, the food was delicious and they catered to some of our very difficult dietary requirements.
Thank you Shishangeni for an amazing 2 night stay!

Large reserve packed with many animal species just for guests. Excellent guide (Harold) and chef (Regina). Individual cabin is spacious and everything works. Good Wi-Fi in lodge.
My preference is not to have game drives that run into the night where it’s hard to see. However this the norm for all lodges.

Well done Shishangeni team! We had a wonderful stay.
The gravel road enroute to the lodge is very good . The scenery is beautiful and one can enjoy plenty of wildlife encounters.
Our game drives with a very professional ranger were awesome too as he really strives to deliver the best experience to his guests.
The massage was very good, thank you to the therapist.
Because it was winter, it was a bit cold though and the experience could benefit from an electric blanket

The view from the deck and from the rooms is very beautiful. Lots of animals surround the camp. The rooms are very nice equipped and clean. The staff is phenomenal and very friendly. Our chef, Regina, cooked super tasty. The game drives were always great and we've seen more animals than we've expected. We enjoyed our stay a lot and will definitely come back.

Top 5 all time experience staying at the Shishengeni resort. Breathtaking views, comfortable room, excellent food (understatement, it was that good), and a top rate professional safari guide (thank you Simon!).
Nothing, the stay was flawless. Will hopefully return in the future and recommend to family and friends

The remoteness and the game drives. At the time of my visit, I was the only guest in the camp, so I guess the atmosphere was a little quieter had the 5 tents been occupied. I was very happy being the the only one, especially for game drives. The night sounds of hippos so close, in the dam. The lack of light pollution was great. Many reviews comment on the lack of wifi. This is completely understandable in such an isolated location. However, I had mobile data on my phone, and occasionally it did work, especially in the main room where food is served, but don't expect it to, just enjoy the sounds of sights of the bush. Tip - go outside early morning before the game drive, to watch the sun rise over the Lebombo mountains. The tent shows some signs of wear and tear, such as some the canvas needing repairing where stitching is coming loose, so when windy, the canvas would flap around, but to be honest, it added to the atmosphere! Bed was comfortable, and despite no aircon, the 2 fans were more than sufficient and at no time was I uncomfortable because of the heat (stayed 20, 21 Jan 2022)
Three meals a day, for me, was too much, and a shame to waste the food. I would like the option of perhaps paying for an additional drive with just a snack at lunch, instead of having a full lunch. Perhaps having a small drinks fridge in the tent, as they do in the Kruger main camps tents would be useful, it doesn't have to be large, but enough to hold some drinks etc. There was nothing I 'disliked'.

Food was over the top! Staff very friendly and helpful, especially with kids. Game drives were beyond our expectations. We were really lucky to spot sooo many animals. Loved everything about this wonderful place.

The game drives are exceptional
The place is run down. The towels are old, the rooms are badly in need of maintenance - does are swollen and stick, don’t close easily or properly. everything is grubby and old. There is NO management. Staff are lazy and clearly don’t want to be there. The “Full Board” concept is not explained clearly at all. Drinks are only free on game drives but nowhere else. If you want a water on a game drive, it’s free; if you want water at dinner, you’re charged. The concept is ridiculous. Guests had no clue that this was how they operate because unless you ask, nothing is explained. Then at night the staff run around getting tables to sign for their beverages in an invoice book, at the dinner table. It’s unprofessional. The rooms were unprepared - not enough water for all three of us, towels were not exchanged when they used ones were removed, the air conditioner kept breaking down and it would take ages for maintenance to come and repair it (with no communication from staff).

Very good location within the Kruger National Park. Staff are extremely friendly. Texan and Solomon are both wonderful Guides, with good knowledge and respect for nature. We encountered 2 herd of elephant on one game drive which Solomon handled with great care and skill.
We were lucky enough to be the only guests, so it was great to have some flexibility. The landscape and variety of animals in the concession is truly wonderful. This was my best trip in the Kruger National Park from a game-viewing and Guide perspective.
The Marketing of the accommodation is misleading. There are 3 different lodge sites, and the Marketing gives the impression that all facilities are available at all sites. There is no wifi at Camp Shonga, nor are bathrooms private. There is no air conditioning. The accommodation is certainly not "Luxury". The accommodation at Camp Shonga is outdated, in need of repairs and maintenance. The tents, canvas and floors are dirty, the netting and zips are broken. All woodwork is looking shoddy. The pricing is in line with modern, clean, luxury accommodation experienced at other venues, but does not meet the same standard. Whilst the Staff try their best, one has the impression that the Owners are not in touch with what their competition is offering.
There are no menus for either food or drinks. A bar is virtually non-existent. The swimming pool was murky.
Whilst the food is decent, it is not in line with that served in a "Luxury Lodge".
Whilst I appreciate that the tourist industry has suffered greatly by the various lockdowns, I do feel that pricing could be reduced to attract locals. This would be beneficial to the business, employees and guests. A revamp of the accommodation, coupled with the excellent staff and location could make this one of the best accommodations in the Kruger National Park.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. The service was exceptional and the food very delicious. The two game drives each day were an unique experience and our ranger Phillip had a very good knowledge about the wildlife and spotted lots of animals. We enjoyed our stay overall and would recommend this lodge without any doubts.

Our experience at Shishangeni could not have been better!
The staff showed us incredible flexibility, we missed our first lunch and they were happy to do it the next day for us, let us do late checkout and throughout our stay were super friendly and kind.
Our rooms (Shawu) were practically on top of a lake where lions, hippos, elephants, zebras, rhinos would come and drink water. It was absolutely unbelievable! We were doing an incredible safari from the balcony while relaxing on the pool, with all the animals coming to drink and bathe.
Only wished we could have stayed longer!

We really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon.
Great food, friendly staff that really went out of their way to make our stay memorable. We enjoyed the game drives and the guides tried their best to find us good sightings.
We got an upgrade to Camp Shawu and our room had the best view.
It was a great way to spend our 2nd wedding anniversary.
Thanks Shishangeni and all the staff!

The tent was lovely, right in front of the dam. We saw the big 5 from our verandah ! The food prepared by Regina was out of this world, we were really spoilt. All the ladies took care of our every need with a smile. The game drives were amazing, our ranger Sifiso made sure each one was super special. We saw absolutely everything there is to see. This was by far the best safari ecperience we have had, and we have had plenty before.
No coffee or tea facilities in rooms, but thats understandable because everything runs on solar. A flask by your door will be wonderful ? More lights in the room, its very dark inside.

They stole 1800 euros from me by opening the safe with a mechanical key !I noticed that there was not enough money in the safe, and I informed the staff about it, there were only 3 people there! We called the police, detectives, started an investigation, checked the memory of the safe, and it turned out that my safe was opened by a cleaner with a mechanical key and took 1800 euros from it! As it turned out, she and her husband did this with all the safes when the guests went on safari!I noticed a lack of money on the second day of my stay,I spent my entire vacation talking to the police, detectives, general manager, staff, and my vacation was the worst on earth! They just apologized to me and put the money in my safe, without even compensating me for my nerves, sleepless nights and ruined holidays (((stay away from this place and never come there !Money will be easily stolen from you, and all you will get is the word "sorry"!!!! I added a photo when the police arrived, a photo of a man who stole money with his wife, and how the safe was checked for the fact that it was opened with a mechanical key

The staff were friendly and the food was good.
The canvas panels are dirty and in serious need of replacement, zips not working, valcro finished etc. The gas geyser is very unpredictable, the water goes from steaming hot to ice cold in a flash.
