- the personnel is very friendly and helpful, and there is always someone around who knows good English. When we were leaving, they actually gave a small neat gift for our son, that he very much likes;
- you can arrange several activities there, from kayaking to rock climbing. You can also rent good quality bikes and electric scooters for a good price. We did both. You can bike a truly beautiful bike/foot path which follows the Yulong river, with locations to swim and to take a little trip on a bamboo raft. The bike ride is probably the best activity in the area, and one of the better in China;
- the room was clean and spacious, with a great bathroom and shower, and good beds with mosquito nets (which actually didnt seem necessary, but watch out for the bugs in the outside space). The 2 person bed of the original room booking.com suggested for us was too small for us and our very tall 8 year old son, but the personnel immediately arranged a fitting room with two beds for us for a small surcharge;
- the swimming pool made the deal for us, in particular because we were staying over in the furnace-like summer. The swimming pool is just big enough to really enjoy the swimming, and especially our son spent a lot of time there;
- we consider the location as excellent, because it is really a bit out of busy Yangshuo (which is fun, but you go to a place like this for the natural beauty), and close enough to get there by cab or bike/scooter (app. 10 minutes). It is nice and quiet there, which is quite difficult to find in overcrowded China. It's also very near the aforementioned bike path and a bamboo raft harbour, and relatively near (by bike/scooter) other top locations such as Moon hill and the Gold cave;
- the property of the hotel, which is housed in an old Chinese family house, has been very well renovated by the original Dutch owners, that regretfully have leaft.
- someone thought it was a good idea to build a 15 meter high hotel directly next to the swimming pool. That was a regretful choice. But it's not near the rest of the hotel, doesn't disturb the view of the nearby mountains and provides some necessary extra shadow when you take a dip, so we didn't mind it.
- the state of the property is still quite good, but will soon need some maintenance. Also the pool could be somewhat cleaner.

Charming property! In a quiet location that is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding areas.
The menu offered a nice variety and the food was excellent.
The staff really went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They arranged scooters for our use and a driver to take us back to Guilin. They made sure our granddaughters (3&4) were taken care of too.
The amount of activities they offer is impressive! Unfortunately, our stay was short so we were not able to take advantage of the wide range of activities... I wish we had more time to partake in the offerings.
We enjoyed everything!!

Charming hotel located in a small village at 10min taxi from Yangshuo city center. Quiet and beautiful place. Some stuff would need a bit refurbishment or maintenance but overall, the room is clean and nice.
Food at the hotel is excellent and staff is very nice.
Area around the pool would need renovation.

The service from all the staff from Alice to Helen to all the waiters at the restaurant was cheerful, helpful and wonderful. The place had a great vibe and look, with history that belongs in the location. Food at the restaurant had good mix of western and Chinese -- all were delicious.
Not their fault but construction next door was an eyesore in an otherwise serene pool area.

We've tried to stay here for years but Covid has always prevented this. The location is very beautiful and the rooms are quaint. Alice is amazing, she is a fantastic person and helps wherever possible. You can hire mopeds or she can arrange taxis, anything you need. The rest of the staff there were great as well, the pool was small but nice after a day in the heat.
Nothing.

The Giggling Tree was full of charm! They more than exceeded our expectations. Alice at the front desk took GREAT care of us and even checked on us after we checked out. Do yourself a favor, rent a scooter and get "lost" in the countryside-especially at sunset!
I loved this hotel and would recommend it to everyone wanting ambience, a view, and great food!

I loved the location, friendly staff, amazing design and good food!
Construction next to pool spoiled the best impressions of the hotel, was practically impossible to swim cause rocks were falling to the pool.
I would strongly suggest the staff to work with catering APP, we were dozen times asked for our room number while taking orders, a very simple APP will make that process smooth!

Clean, comfortable and relaxing place to enjoy a meal in close proximity to your bedroom!
rooms were a bit musty and wet (not sure this can be helped given the rain)…

The staff were fantastic! So friendly and attentive. It rained heavily for our first two days there but they kept my two teenage boys entertained by doing a cookery course with them in their kitchen, organizing fan painting for them and providing delicious drinks and food for us all.
Everything was great!

Outside of town, incredibly helpful staff that was able to arrange everything for us- drink meals, taxis, motor scooters, tours etc. food is excellent and so child friendly.

The courtyard is the key! Having breakfast outside or a beer after being out exploring Yangshuo scenic area is priceless. The rooms were okay for the price, but the biggest perk is the staff. Alice is kind and super helpful... always provide suggestions and even if we had a couple of issue with itineraries she always finds a proper solution to us.
The pool is a plus!
The location is simply amazing and the food served is okay... especially their western food was better than their chinese in my opinion!
The rooms were a little bit dusty, but I am very sensitive to dust, so I don't think it will bother the majority of people.
The last 2 days of our stays the pool was a little bit dirty.

A lot of foreigners stay in the hotel and now I see why. The staff speak excellent English and can help organise or recommend activities in the area. The food was delicious and reasonably priced - we ended up eating most meals there. We were skeptical about some of the western dishes but everything was amazing! Even the piña coladas didn’t disappoint. Moon cake making for guests was a nice touch.
The rooms aren’t very sound proof and some guests were unfortunately allowed to continue making noise well into the night. Not much else around but you have everything you need within the hotel.

The Giggling Tree seems to be an established place for foreigners. The staff were extremely friendly and helped us with planning out what to do in our limited time. We followed their suggestion and rented their bikes to bike to the nearby dock. They had helped us book bamboo raft tickets. Bamboo rafting was the best, most relaxing part of our trip. Our bikes had been transported to the dock downriver where we arrived and we were able to ride our bikes back up the road, stopping for coffee along the way. Rental is by the day, so we also biked a bit farther for lunch. Additionally, so many cute little quiet villages to explore with excellent food options including beer fish. Walk a bit and there is a cute little bakery making Western baked goods at the fork in the road. As for the room, air conditioning and bathroom and shower are great.
We got "upgraded" to a bigger family room on Booking and it turned out to be on the ground floor, where I could hear every single word being said by guests outside our window in the courtyard dining tables at night, including their running and screaming children. The little windows are not completely covered by the very little curtains, so light also filters through. By 10PM, I had to go out myself and tell the other guests in Cantonese that they should know I can hear every single word they were saying including the plans they were making for the next day. Old doors shut by padlock and windows are not "sealed," so you can hear every guest above and next to you as floors, ladders, and doors creak. If I had known, I would have kept a smaller double room upstairs. It is quite rustic for the price and there are many other cheaper places to stay when we walked around the small connected villages. Food at The Giggling Tree is meh while food at restaurants in the area was amazing.

Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. Large, comfortable, clean rooms. Nice pool area. Family friendly. Good food options from onsite cafe. Range of activities nearby.
Would prefer breakfast to be included in the room rate. Shared areas could be a little smarter.

Kid friendly, relaxed feel. The giggling Tree staff are warm, welcoming and helpful, they really make you feel part of the family. We went on amazing activities and the hotel helped organize it all. We will definitely return.

Lovely friendly staff, extremely helpful always trying to help. Fantastic with my children too. Alice was amazing and really made sure that we enjoyed our stay.
Pool could have been a bit cleaner and bikes better maintained but this would not change my opinion of this hotel as it was fabulous and we will be back.

The setting is beautiful and a great location out of the way but still a perfect launching spot for almost all activities in the area. But the best thing is the staff. Always there for anything you need, great with kids, self-starters who provide that little bit extra when you need it (whether you knew it or not). Alice makes sure to CA lol you by your name at every opportunity which may sound small but makes the whole experience that much more personal.

We had an amazing time staying at the Giggling tree. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Alice, Mr Curry, Jerry and all the other staff were so kind and helpful. The food was great and the service was exceptional. Alice organised a number of trips for us around Guilin and transportation to and from the train station. Alice is highly efficient and extremely helpful, she made us feel very at home. My children enjoyed a Kungfu lesson with Mr Curry and Jerry taught them some new games. The hotel staff even helped organise for my husband to watch the England game at 3am in a spare hotel room! This has been one of our favourite family holidays. We hope to go back very soon and would definitely recommend this hotel.
