Overpriced and underwhelming

Just outside city centre, in a quiet neighbourhood.

Though Movenwick Wellington markets itself as a 5 star hotel, the reality is that it is a 3.5 star hotel. Customer service is noticeably lacking, with especially amateur concierge with mostly disinterested demeanour. There is no porter to assist with luggage on arrival/ departure. The lifts are tired and their interiors show noticeable wear. Room service hours are a joke. Despite the signs everywhere about maintaining hygiene and sanitisation in light of covid, only ONE hand sanitiser dispenser in the public areas had product in it. Hotel-owned cars were parked in and also completely blocked up the hotel’s driveway and main entrance, thus preventing other vehicles from pulling up at the hotel’s entrance. We also received an appallingly blasé response from the front desk when we raised this issue. The hotel is unexpectedly small for what one would expect to find in a supposedly 5 star establishment. The room was small. The in room bathroom was tiny. The pool, gym and sauna also tiny. Seems the hotel is a bit deluded with the level of service and facilities it provides.

Lovely accommodation with excellent service.

Lovely peaceful venue. The dinner at the restaurant was spectacular. Great service from all the staff. Enjoyed our stay.

Slightly further from the CBD then realized but still a very short walk.

Very convenient location. Nice room. Beds very comfortable. Breakfast good selection. Bar was welcoming.

Car parking a bit expensive......but that's Wellington! I thought the pillows were a bit too poofy for sleeping. It would be good to have an alternative.

Breakfast was great, pool and sauna were very clean and the rooms were lovely. Comfy beds, helpful staff and received a free upgrade on arrival. Will definitely be back! Loved the complimentary chocolate hour.

Nothing! Although some might think the location isn't central wellington, but was still a very cheap uber down the hill and it meant the rooms were quiet. Easy 5min walk into town if you take the VIP lift by the restaurant.

Really nice stay with some great extra touches like the chocolate hour.

Bed was soo comfy. The whole place felt quite luxurious. Very nice.

Some of the cocktails took a very long time to arrive after ordering (but they were delicious)

PERFECT for families with young children

The staff. Honestly, they had the best hospitality and were super helpful. The kids room is fantastic for parents who need to get a bit of work done while distracting the children. Also loved the pool and sauna.

A bit tight in the room with a cot, and not a smart TV. BUT the bed was super comfortable and the room really clean.
