Good location and enjoyed old world aspect of the facility

Had dinner at restaurant and was disappointed as we were expecting something great based on menu and photos and reviews but it was average and would not dine here again. Power point not working in kitchen, inadequate supplies( milk, coffee and sugar) for the price we could have found better but we’re going for something interesting and different - probably would not stay again

Location was convenient, everything was easily accessible. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

We enjoyed the history of the building and stepping back in time. Room was warm despite the heat pump turning completely off all the time. Bed comfy. Food is outstanding.

It was very cold going down to dinner as you have to go onto the balcony and down to the internal stairway to the dining room. Ok in summer but avoid it in winter.

the location is unsurpassed, easy parking, great central location and lovely views towards the museum and surrounds. the hot pools were heavenly though the private pool was closed for maintenance the entire week we were there. the rooms have seen their heyday pass by and are on the downward slope for major overhauls. I cannot fault the space we had in our 2 bedroom suite in the adjacent 1930's block but the furniture, fixtures and fittings are all in need of an update.

Kitchen contents are odd, chipped and the appliances could do with an upgrade. The furniture too needs a refresh and a new interior decorator to update style, colours and art etc. hot water and heating systems also need a review and update. Carpet/curtains need replacement. the Menu read wonderfully however the execution lacked esp with the Matariki special which was un recognisable from the menu and not at all up to the standard expected of such a lovely dinning room/hotel.

Central location, priced well, pool & sauna was good. Nice boutique hotel.

Shower water pressure low. Netflix didn't work on day 2.

unfortunately I’m almost 2m tall and having a fixed head shower at 1,6m isn’t very inclusive for people like me.

rooms clean and spacious but furniture old and tired.

breakfast was understaffed , two overwhelmed members trying to do everything. No bowls, glasses, food running out.

beautiful rooms, good heating. very comfortable beds!! nice and spacious.

we were out all day and we arrived back at 430pm and our room was not cleaned beds not made and towels were still wet from the night before. there was no file or information in the room regarding the facilities.

There were a few small things that could have better based on the price per night for a room. We were early for check in and asked if we could just store our luggage in the hotel while we waited for your check in time (we didn't expect to be able to get in ealry), the person who served me made it feel like it was really out of their way to provide this service. The shower body was and Shampoo were both fully empty (refillable bottles in the shower),I asked for them to be refilled and was advised it would have to wait until housekeeping did it the next morning. I did get offered bar soap which I advised we already had. These are only small things but for $270 a night I expected better.

It was old but beautifully designed building and very well maintained. Great location, wonderful staff, clean. we didn’t have time to use the pool but it looked nice.

The staff were helpful, the location was good and the breakfast (at Aroma Cafe, as the bar was closed) was very nice.

We got a 'free upgrade' to a suite. Don't take this - it means being moved to an old run down building, not seen in photos, which was nothing like the description. Pools are much smaller than in photos. Generally they've taken very misleading photos. Definitely not a 4 star hotel - would be better off advertising it for what it is and people wouldn't be disappointed.

Proximity to gardens, upgraded room.

A little noisy and not at its best in wet (door sticking, slippery entrance) but looked like improvements were being made.

Room was tiny and could hear the people next door through the wall, one receptionist was quite rude

The buffet breakfast was really good and the pool facility was nice and relaxing
