Exceptional
We had an excellent experience with Sambiya River Lodge. The level of hospitality was superb. When we entered we were immediately offered hot towels and fresh watermelon juice. The accommodations were extremely comfortable and included a double shower with one shower head partly outside (but enclosed and private) to enjoy the sounds of nature more intimately. The staff even packed us an amazing breakfast very early to go as we had to leave for the lion tracking at 530 am sharp. All in all one of the best lodging experience I have ever had!

Exceptional
The staff was fantastic and very attentive. Rooms were nice. Food was great. They tried their best to provide us with good vegetarian meals, which does not seem like a very common demand.

We had a great time and recommend this lodge
Amazing location (surrounded by jungle and animals), helpful and very kind staff.
The person who organized activities was not transparent and agreements were changed last minute. Make sure to carry enough cash with you.

Paradise in the jungle.
Location, staff and manager. The facilities. The food and atmosphere that the staff creates is incredible. Everything. You will not find better value. ...and then there’s the resident buffalo, baboons and water buck (see ‘outside’ picture; just keep the kiddos close when wildlife is around) I could not stop smiling, awestruck.
Only wish I could stay longer. None of this is negative, only offering some tips for guests in navigating through the park. The drive to get to Sambiya is a challenge, but well worth it if you plan ahead. Planning all activities ahead of time and leaving enough time for weather, ferry crossings and road construction unknowns is key. Figure 20 minutes max to ‘Top of Falls’ and an hour to Nile River ferry to make sure you get on board. With road construction, it’s a good couple hours from Masindi. Catch Sambiya now before the new highway and Nile River bridge are finished, making it easy to get there, and you won’t be able to get a room. 🙂 The bandas are fine if you just need to sleep, but springing for the hutt cottages may be worth it, especially if with family.
