Bon séjour

Hôtel bien situé, le personnel est aimable. Chambre propre et calme, bien qu un peu défraîchie tout de même.

Le lit supplémentaire dans la suite Deluxe n était pas acceptable et l hôtel a installé un véritable lit à notre demande.

Swanky and comfortable stay

The size of the room, the quietness and comfortable aspects plus the staff are lovely.

The pressure of the shower hear, albeit there is also a rain shower. The lighting in the room is also quite dark so for my friend trying to do her make up, only a small dilemma. Barbican isn't the easiest of stations to reach but still, we managed even at night time (3 am).

A relatively comfortable room, a bit further out than we thought, not really what I would have called Deluxe room as the

Cleanliness and friendly staff.

Bed was too soft but this is a personal preference. Distance was further from the city and attractions than we had anticipated. The constant humming of what we thought was the air con units when sleeping, was tricky. No window in the room that could open for fresh air, couldn’t turn on the air con either, sharp bits on the bath rail where the covering was coming away and a huge gap under the door, mismatched cups and not enough decaffeinated drink choice in the room.

Not amazing but convenient location

The location and front entrance is lovely within easy walking distance to Barbican tube station

Not a 5 star bedroom, light switches and plugged not even screwed flush into walls, blind for the bathroom window looking into the bedroom didn’t go down all the way. The window handles were broken and I hurt my hand trying to close the window.

The facilities were lovely, staff were friendly. loved the bathroom and the rainfall shower too!

My room was right next a what I think was a generator. It was going off all day and night so it interrupted my sleep a lot. Even though the windows were closed it was really loud. I went to try and get a good night sleep before continuing my travels however this did stop me from doing so.

Not great if you want to sleep

Beautiful building and great location

The beds were awful and rooms are very small, they moved us into a 'bigger' room as the description of 'delux room' shocked me...it wasn't much bigger than the bed, the next room was not much better 'club room' the beds are way too soft and as a couple we just rolled into the middle all night...I wanted a bit of luxury but would have been better staying in the Premier Inn...after complaining about the bed they gave a small refund but honestly I'd have paid more for a decent sleep

Kalite Sevenler İçin İyi Tercih

Güzel ve konforlu bir otel. Londra'nın en iyi otellerinden biri... Rezervasyonu erken yapmak lazım. Ücreti biraz yüksek ama yine de Londra'da bu seviyedeki bir otel için normal diyebilirim. Şehrin önemli noktalarına ulaşım çok kolay.

Ok but not what I’d expect for 5*

Bed was comfy. Staff were helpful when asking them questions.

Relaxing and comfortable

Comfortable relaxed hotel. I like the fact it’s a repurposed brewery which makes it quirky rather than identikit - even if the floor plan can be confusing at times as a result

Good business hotel

Convinient hotel for business in the city. Comfortable and quiet.

A faulty door bell in the room kept ringing during the night for no apparent reason, and woke me up various times. The manager was great and the issue seems to have been solved. It did spoil the experience however.

To be charged £200 per night for this hotel is a complete rip off.

Nothing I have stayed in hotels all over the world and this was one of the worst especially when you consider the price charged.

Windows were like a prison cell, one was so high you could not look out of it. The Curtains did't cover the whole window, the curtains were smaller than the net curtains. The fridge did not work. The bathroom fan did not work. The underfloor heating in the bathroom did not work. The room heating controls are guesswork and the heating took a long time (hours) to take effect. The breakfast for which they charge £19 is a buffet and so the hot food is lukewarm or cold. The hot water controls on the shower had to be turned two complete 360 degree circles to get to cool, could have lead to a nasty scalding. Maybe I was unlucky, but when I complained on checking out I was overheard by a couple in the lobby who had told me they had the same complaints and one or two others.

Staff molto gentile e disponibile. Siccome la prima camera dove siamo entrati era molto piccola, ci hanno cambiato stanza. La seconda era molto spaziosa e confortevole. Posizione strategica per chi arriva alla stazione di Liverpool street

Poor value for money, mould in room, not 5 star hotel

Good location, friendly staff

Serious mould in the room, especially near the windows. Pealing of the bathroom ceiling due to mould. And a very damp smell / humid feeling in the room. We only stayed for 1 night and used the room for literally to sleep as we had gone for a night out in London. However, very disappointed with this room especially since I have stayed here twice before. In the morning we found the fridge does not actually work - half the plugs/ switches in the room do not work either. Also, for a 5 star hotel, this is definitely not a room which meets this calibre. As we arrived back to the room late at night, we just put up with the room smell for the night. Then in the morning realised the extent of the damp and mould. However, as we checked out in the morning we mentioned all of this to reception, they flagged this for their maintenance team. Unfortunately, I won’t be booking here again due to this poor experience.

Could have been so much better.

The appearance of the hotel from the outside and also the location.

Waited 20 mins to be checked in. Waited 5 mins for the concierge just to show me to my room. Shower was very poor. £50 deposit taken at check in that wasn’t mentioned when I booked the hotel.

Shocking experience, not a 5* hotel on both hardware and service

The location is great, that's about it.

I have previously stayed in Montcalm before, and used to love the experience. However this time was an absolute shamble and I would have better experience in a Travelodge. 1. **There was NO RUNNING WATER in my room from 11pm** Apparently there was an "emergency" which the hotel could predict 2 hours in advance that it would happen at 11pm, and notified their guests by slipping a note under the door at 9pm. I was out for work event and my partner who was in the room, immediately called the front desk and asked for help as I won't be back before 11pm. They had no contingency plan, no alternative showers/sink (even though the Montcalm Chain has at least 3 establishments within 5 mins walking distance), and didn't even offer extra bottled water. The staff that we have interacted with during this whole saga couldn’t even be bothered to pretend that they cared, let alone offering extra help. After quite some back and forth with the hotel, they have agreed with a 50% refund via booking.com. When I contacted Booking.com about this, they said they were waiting for written confirmation from the hotel regarding the refund. The customer service has tried to contact the hotel via email and phone calls for 3 days, and still no response. This is still on-going and very frustrating. 2. Room was very dated. Dusty, very noisy outside with no double glazed window, socket by the desk did not work. Not worth the money

Lovely hotel in a great location, close to tube stations.

Great location- stayed here twice before.

Beds were very uncomfortable- far too soft- definitely need replacing!

Too near nightclub and bar, was woken up by party revellers, missed hours of sleep.

The bedroom was nice but my tv didn’t work, had to call maintenance.

The hotel is next to a bar/nightclub. I was woken at 2am by very loud revellers who hung around outside for over an hour, shouting, singing and talking loudly. It is anything but ‘calm’ would not stay again,

Run down hotel.

Attending event at the Brewery so very close.

Dirty, and run-down. Shower broken, window broken so couldn’t close it (freezing room in the middle of winter). Arrived to the room late at night and hotel fully booked so no alternative.

Modern and spacious hotel within a historic location. Great facilities and great location for what we wanted.

Comfortable but needs some minor maintenance.

Located close to stations, parking and restaurants. One of the guys from reception made a real effort on day 2 to relocate us to adjoining rooms without issues. Rooms nicely refurbished.

Check in staff didn’t seem to want to be there on Christmas Day. Despite requesting rooms on at least the same floor, we were provided rooms on different floors. Several issues In the rooms- require maintenance.

I didn’t it was awful

The worst 5star hotel in london. I was booked into a faulty room with a broken window and no heating. The phones didn’t work to assist with this. There was stains all over the bedding and hole in the wall. I had to complain to be moved as was shivering due to it being so cold in the room and I suffer with chronic asthma. I have raised a complaint with the hotel and only been offered £100 compensation. Which is insulting for the price I paid for 2 nights and the very poor customer experience.

Theb overall expereience was okay. The hotel is advertised as aq 5 star hotel, however i would say at best its a 4 star. I have stayed at Montcalm before in a differnt location and it was much more like a 5 star hotel.

The room was okay, but no different to say a premiere inn.

Terrible night got no sleep

It was conveniently located

Our room was very noisy there was some machinery outside our window and the gap underneath the door let the light from the hall shine into the room all night keeping us awake.

Do not stay here

Manager was extremely professional

We had to cancel on site because the room was not as pictured. Room was also dirty and in disrepair. They moved us to another room which was the same. The manager on site was excellent and said we would get a full refund.

A visit and a stay with your reclusive weird uncle in his Scrooge-like home

Proximity to Barbican, the old world charme and the inclusion of the fabulous restaurant/bar the jugged hare. We ended up in “the barbican suite” which could have been so glamorous-its two floors and two bathroom layout is extravacant at first but then you have an extra door (a non insulated fire escape) close to your bed and it feels empty with overly complicated and confusing on/off switches everywhere.

The mazelike structure with hard to reach rooms, the lack of a minibar (I tried 2 rooms and the 2nd was supposed to include a minibar, but didn’t)and the feeling of being lost in an abandoned building. We ended up in “the barbican suite” which could have been so glamorous-its two floors and two bathroom layout is extravacant at first but then you have an extra door (a non insulated fire escape) close to your bed and it feels empty with overly complicated and confusing on/off switches everywhere.

Great staff, great location and good sized rooms. Happy with our stay.

There was an issue with air con on day 2 which was not been able to fix that night but they tried to come up with a temp solution. However overall a good stay.

inadequate and not value for money

The Location was good.

Staff were not that friendly or helpful. requested a late checkout which was granted, but then had a member of the team knocking on the door to tell us we needed to check out. Unable to find the room and no-one able to help poorly signed. struggled with bags and no concierge to assist. sent 2 special requests neither of which were responded too. Room was small for the price we paid.
