Great location - next door to the Wildlife Refuge. Convenient to be able to pick up the path right outside. Breakfast could be improved.

I didn’t notice efforts for recycling or composting. But otherwise it was a really nice motel.

This trip was a weekend getaway for two. We’d never been to Chincoteague and did not know what to expect. Chincoteague and especially the Refuge Inn are now our new favorite spots. Chincoteague in autumn is quiet and charming but thankfully not empty. The hotel won us over immediately with clean rooms in perfect condition, a friendly staff, and incredible comfort. The king size bed was one of the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in, and a bonus at the hotel pool: a hot tub, which was smartly decorated with real plants, giving a feeling of total relaxation and escape. We will definitely return to this wonderful hotel.

We visit every year and always stay at the refuge inn. Lovely place next to the park. The staff is very helpful and friendly!

This was our first stay at the Refuge Inn, very clean and ouiet, we will deffinitely return to the refuge on our next trip to Chincotague.

There was some sort of bug on the bed, looked like a grub larva type. Gross, smoke detector beeped the whole stay, The breakfast choices are the same daily. And wasn’t a fan about having to come to the front desk for permission for the gym and sauna. The nature was beautiful, horses are beautiful. People should be open. Minded. It was my birthday weekend and my diverse family was treated terribly. The restaurants. Didn’t want to serve us.

We enjoyed our stay at the Refugee Inn, and would recommend it to our friends and family. The only issue we had was not able to get the hotel release the credit card authorization for possible incidental charges. We incurred no incidental charges, but three weeks after our stay, this credit card authorization is still showing up as a "pending charge" in my credit card account.

This is the place to stay in Chincoteague. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location was perfect to access the National Park or to explore the town. The walk to the marsh observation deck was nice. Of course, the 5 horses were the high point. Breakfast was alright, but we’d prefer to eat in a dedicated breakfast room We would definitely stay here again.

Great location... staff is very friendly and easy to work with. Looking for excuses to go back.

Lovely hotel

Nice clean and quiet Inn, very close to the Refuge

The refuge Inn did what it said on the tin - provided refuge from stress. The hotel facilities were excellent with the pool a particular bonus. Breakfast was good and delivered to the room every morning and the staff were very good.

The location of Refuge Inn to the entrance of Chincoteague is perfect. The setting reflects the nature of the area. Rooms are neat and well decorated in line with the atmosphere. Coffee station was well stocked. One consideration - the sides of bathtubs are a bit higher than what we are accustomed to.

It was very clean and quiet and relaxing.

Close to wildlife preserve and the beach. The room had a noisy dehumidifier running all night. Guess that comes with the territory.

Everything was very clean. Staff was very courteous and helpful! Having the ponies on site was beautiful. Located right outside Assateague park was good location.

Loved the stay and having the ponies to see right across the parking lot. Only thing was that they list the pool as indoor and outdoor leading us to believe there was 2 separate pools. It was one pool with half under a enclose top with the other side open to the elements. Maybe explain that better in description.

Enjoyed staying at The Refuge Inn. Very attentive, friendly and helpful staff. Nicely appointed. Great, accessible location to the beaches as well as Main Street.

Unfortunately, they ignored my request for a ground floor room (booked 8 months in advance) but otherwise a pleasant stay. The cleaning staff did a great job of polishing the best out of an aging hotel. Breakfast was delivered in paper bags every morning. The sauna, hot tub and pool were all functional and clean. The fenced in ponies ended up being our only equestrian sightings of the trip. I would recommend it.

Very clean, nicely appointed, and comfortable. The bed was comfortable, water pressure was good with great hot water. I am just sad it took me so long to stay here.

The front desk was very welcoming and accommodating.The hotel is right next to ponies you can feed. It was a super clean, beautiful room. Beautiful pool area with greenhouse type flowers and plants. Shops and restaurants are walkable, and there is a bike rental just next door. I will be coming here again and again. It was a lovely stay. Gorgeous property.

Amazing hotel. Amazing amenities. Polite staff. Havent had actual keys to a hotel room in ages. Ah the nostalgia was amazing.

The checking was charming and informative. The breakfast was brought to our room. The overall hotel was just nicer than I thought it would be and charming and pleasant are words to describe it.

The property is very near the National Park and Museum. Bikes are right nearby, along with a few ponies in the reserve. Excellent location with spacious rooms.

Loved the access to a bike shop right next door to the property but mainly access to the island ponies that you could get close to and actually feed (bring plenty of quarters). This is NOT a petting zoo but you can get close to the animals. Enjoyed being able to order limited continental breakfast items and having it delivered to your door. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Patio or balcony for every room. Pool area was nicely maintained. Dehumidifier in every room (this is summer down south, remember) BUT my husband had to empty the bucket out at night before bed, otherwise the alarm would go off and wake us both up. Only negative for me was there was NO elevator so if that's a problem for you, either pack light (which I don't do) OR request a room on the first floor. Other reviewers mentioned the parking lot view or the pine tree view (this view was quieter). Your choice. We had the pine tree view which was fine for us. Loved the fact that this property was within a short walk (if you're in shape), bike or car drive to the National Park. Ample dining choices nearby. Speed limit on the island is 25 mph so don't expect to race around the island like you may do at home. This is island time and pace.
