Rooms were new and very clean. My one complaint is that I had no idea that the hotel lobby was being renovated. When we walked in there were tarps, scaffolding and workmen everywhere! That should have been disclosed when booking. We had no choice but to stay at that point. Not very professional!

Keisha at the front desk was wonderful, such a friendly and kind person who went above and beyond to make sure our room was adequate, what a breath of fresh air!

When we arrived we tried checking in and she said we had no reservation and was basically like “too bad so sad” and went back to her phone. Then I realized I made the reservation under my married last name and not my maiden name and she checked us in. We got to our room and the AC was blasting. It was freezing in there. The fridge was turned all the way down so all of our drinks went into a hot fridge - the remote to the tv was sticky with an unknown substance- the bathroom had hair EVERYWHERE. The microwave didn’t work. It smelled like marijuana in the hallways.

The furniture is terrible. Its so old it has rips in the chairs and the couch was very uncomfortable to even sit on. The tub had the finish coming off of it. I was surprised to find the room so clean with how outdated the furniture, bath, sink, cabinets, doors were.

Terrible view for our room. Humid and smelly bedroom. Shower would not drain. Bed felt like rocks. Pillows flatter than pancakes. Found half eaten chicken wing in corner of room. Breakfast was ok. Staff seemed friendly. No bugs. Awesome Japanese steakhouse within walking distance. Location was within 20 minutes of beach and downtown. Overall subpair hotel for the price. We will not be returining.

The 2 people in reception were awesome! I can't remember their names, but they were so very cheerful and happy. It made me want to stay there. We asked for recommendations for a good seafood restaurant and were given a list, oral directions, and an overview of the restaurants and what was so good about them.

The 3rd floor hallway and room 310-12 smelled musty. Then the room 226 had lamp with lightbulb hanging from wire. The phone did not have any labels. This is not consistent with the Hilton brand. This facility is in desperate need of a remodel. Very disappointing.

Check-in staff were great! Showed concern for my safety (single, elderly woman traveling alone) so moved me from the room they had reserved for me to one closer to the front desk. I appreciated what they did.

I booked a King Suite with Whirlpool tub. The tub was a significant factor in choosing this hotel. They have an app for check in/out and digital key. The digital key wasn’t ready until 1.5hrs after we arrived, even though I checked in through the app well before we arrived. When we tried to use the Whirlpool tub, there was no stopper. I called the front desk, told them what we were wanting to do and the problem was, so they sent up the "house man." When he came up, I showed him that there was no stopper. He said he would try to find one. After about 20 minutes, he returned, let himself in (much to our surprise), and installed the stopper. Once he left, and we "secured" the door, we filled the Whirpool with anticipation. When the water was at the right level, we pushed the button...and nothing. We found out the next morning that none of the Whirlpools work. They are preparing to remodel and remove them all. They were extremely busy, and busy meant noisy. But they were also nice and professional. The premises was clean, the bed was comfortable, breakfast was hot.

The staff on duty were not friendly and acted like I was bothering them. The air conditioner made a terrible noise and kept waking me up. The chair in the room was dirty and had a hole in it. Wouldn’t recommend staying here!

The air conditioner rattled so loudly we had to push the chair against it to keep it somewhat quiet. The air was set at 61 when we entered the room and it took a while to warm up. What a waste.

Hampton Inn & Suites was easy to locate and had ample parking - website was user friendly - when I called the facility I reached a live agent almost immediately who was very hospitable and worked with me to gain early check in due to early evening wedding commitment (5:30pm)

You could tell the hotel was a little older. Regardless, I wasn’t impressed with the cleanliness. Outside the front door smelled like urine. Garbage cans were overflowing everywhere- the entrance, the pool and lobby area. Hallways had Q-Tips and band aides strewn about. Our room was musty and damp and had a unpleasant smell almost like a wet dog. The location was convenient- everything was within a 10-15 minute drive. Breakfast was good.

The staff was great! The rooms are in desperate need of repair: the walls need painting, the carpet needs to be cleaned, drapery needs to be replaced, the nozzles on the jetted tub left a lot to be desired. They do not provide daily cleaning, it must be requested. We requested and no one came - good thing I always carry Clorox wipes with me.

The tub was uneven on the bottom making it dangerous and a slip hazatd. The carpets were dirty . The small loveseat was very dirty. We put a sheet over it before we sat on it. On a brighter note..the breakfast was good and the linens were acceptable as well. The staff were friendly. Common rooms were clean..lobby ect Bed was comfortable . Its time for a refresh on this property.

Friendly and helpful at check-in and staff were nice throughout my stay. Breakfast was free and decent and there was some seating outside. This location is about 15 min downtown with limited options if you don’t have a car.

Staff did not mention you had to ask for room to be cleaned. We were moving our daughter into an apartment so we were out early and in late. No one at counter to talk with. I called at 9 am to ask for room to be cleaned and told they must be informed by 8 am. Also parking was limited and we were boxed in by 2 cars illegally parked. Hotel would do nothing to find out owners and have moved. Refused to get them towed and didn’t care we were unable to get car out of spot We had to leave car which was completely unacceptable. Desk staff didn’t care about helping at all

The staff was the absolute best! I’ve been in the customer industry for 23 years now, and I felt so welcomed. Staff was genuine, pleasant, and incredibly helpful. I look forward to staying there again. To my surprise they had biscuits and gravy as one of the many options for breakfast! Bed was very comfortable, the room was great!

- We said "good morning" to the lady in reception on the morning of check out. Answer: "Checking out?" - We asked if we could have 30 minutes late check out. Answer: "NO, we are full" We've normally enjoyed staying at Hampton Inns, and accepted to pay a certain premium price for that. But after this visit, we will try another hotel chain next time, I know that there are other very good ones,, more modern, out there to a lower or similar price.

Hotel was not that bad. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was definitely old and needs an update but was clean. The price is just too high in my opinion for this hotel. If your trying to go to downtown Charleston expect a 30 dollar uber ride in the evenings. I would stay closer to downtown for a few dollars more.
