A great location. Very friendly staff

Our experience was very good, room big and clean. Well furnished.
I would only suggest new shower towels as those we had were old and not soft at all.

Very much like the western hotel chain. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Beds very comfy.

We stayed at The Sleep Inn on the front and back ends of our two week trip in Costa Rica. This hotel put us within walking distance of a few of the things we wanted to see in San Jose before heading to Monteverde and then Playa del Coco. We visited the Botanical/zoo, the Butterfly Gardens and the Jade Museum as well as walked through the area surrounding the hotel. We had a fantastic meal at Cafe Rojo which is a short distance from the hotel. There are several parks near the hotel and historic buildings that are pleasant to visit and go for a quick walk. The hotel is in the same compound as a Casino (we never visited it) and restaurant/bar. We enjoyed the breakfast provided by the hotel and found all the staff to be friendly, helpful and cheerful.

Do NOT Leave An Open Voucher With The Front Desk When You Check In. At this property ALWAYS pay your room 100% at check in, pay for any incidentals laundry etc. every day. Do NOT Charge Food from the restaurant to your room, they tried to charge me my last trip $1,035.oo Tip on a $20.oo food bill. Pay as you go, they have "issues" here on charges to your room. This trip was a mess again at check out because they left 2 open vouchers (room which I did not request I said charge that 100% at check in) and a $100.oo voucher for laundry, this messed them up...Never again will I leave an open voucher here when I check in. The first room I was assigned I checked everything when I entered and the AC did not work. I had to go down again and ask for a room change. One night they rented a conference room to a "religious group", and you could hear the screaming from that room everywhere in the hallways and loud. Good hotel but could use improvements in the front desk.

Very clean room, bathroom, and common areas. Our first night in Costa Rica, and we found the staff very helpful and friendly, but there was some difficulties with the trsnslation several times. We were able to get our questions and requests satisfied, but we missed a tour, due to an inaccurate translation. Reasonably priced. Convenient to many sights. Breakfast good and included in the price of ou room. Magnolia restaurant was good food and not too pricey. We felt safe as the hotel has security fencing. We only went out during daylight. Although we are always vigilant as tourists in any major city, we did find San Jose safe to walk around in daylight. We were warned, that it's not safe to walk outside after dark. Uber and Didi are inexpensive ways to travel at night.

4 stars as I tried to contact the hotel by phone, text and email to arrange airport pickup but they never responded

Had to pay for a guest in my room. I’ve never done that in all my freaking life. Such a scam for money. The staff didn’t understand. And wouldn’t give me a refund. Scandalous.
The staff had a room in front of mine and were noisy
My hairdryer didn’t work
Some of my breakfast was really not good and wasn’t fresh

We needed to store our suitcases for the day prior to check in, and they checked us in at 8 am instead of the normal check in time of 2 pm (because they had a clean room available). It was such a nice treat! We were able to tour the city without our suitcases. Very nice hotel, a bit older but clean and in great condition. A short 15 minute walk to the best part of downtown. Felt very safe to walk there even at 9 pm. Would stay there again.

It smells and stinks

Stayed one night just as a night before our flight. The good- A/C, good security, attached to a restaurant so can get room service, away from the loud and crazy streets of San Jose.
The bad- no water machine, airport shuttle was listed as a hotel amenity but the hotel charges a fee (we didn't know this)

Old hotel and noisy area. Although we asked a room not toward street we woke up 5am for noisy surrounding

Positive - Extremely Clean. Breakfast good though not a wide variety. Coffee, this trip was actually quite good. Special Thanks to: ANDREA in the restaurant, she is the best server ever. Also to PABLO in the front desk.
Negative - Their restaurant is in the casino, but one hand does not know what the other hand knows. I had lunch which was about $25.oo charged to my room. I put an additional C1,500.oo (Colones, about $4.oo) as a tip. To my surprise I was being charged $1,500.oo USD on the tip because the cashier in the casino did not convert to Colones (brilliant)..A hassle having that removed. Advice: Pay for all meals in the casino restaurant in cash or in credit card, do not charge to your room. They said the could not print our final bill when we checked out at 2am, they said they would send by email. They never emailed it, I had to call long distance 6 times to get it sent to me.

This was my first visit to Costa Rica, My brother recommended the Sleep Inn Hotel because it is close to the downtown and easy to walk to the museums and parks. The services are good they recommended excellent city tours. The people at the hotel are the best. The Magnolia restaurant has good price and food quality.

Everything is excellent, no complaints, all closed to the city walking distance

Janna was very helpful during the check-in.

Need to be sure all the appliaces in habitations work. Both the microwave and TV control di not in ours. Also, some plug ins in outlets were not secured correctly or didn't work.
Brakfast could have more variety as well. OPffering just about the same breakfast food ever day gets a little boring.

Hotel need renovations, carpets need deep cleaning! Bad and pillows were too hard.

Cleanest Hotel I have ever stayed at. Security Excellent, guards and cameras everywhere. Thankfully they are very careful not to let Hookers come inside the hotel, unlike other hotels in San Jose which are a free for all. Breakfast located inside hotel ample and good. However, Costarican coffee (Britt) is Not good, never has been. Everything works and WiFi is acceptable speed. No hotel is perfect. NEGATIVES: Shower pressure is barely acceptable. Only breakfast is served inside the hotel, the regular hotel restaurant you have to walk about 15 yards into the casino, through the casino to the restaurant. Food selection limited and fair quality at best in the restaurant, service is slow. Also, when you walk to the restaurant from the hotel they allow "smokers" to stand in the walkway you have to pass through outside and face the "smokers gauntlet", YUK ! Dollar exchange rate at the cashier inside the casino is excellent.

We stayed here the night before our flight out of the SJO airport. The location was convenient. We walked to the local food and goods market. There is a casino attached to the property. The staff was very friendly! Breakfast was very good with a choice of eggs, fruit, cereal, toast, sausage, rice/beans, etc. The only minor complainant is that the beds were a little on the firm side for my preference.

I enjoyed to accessibility to parks and eating establishments. It is in a very busy yet quiet location.

This should be listed as a motel not a hotel. Pictures are deceiving!!! The property is dirty and unsafe. They should have security onsite.

It was a decent hotel in downtown San Jose. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. No problems to report.

Great property and staff are very friendly and helpful. Shame the area isn’t the safest but it is gated which is good. Limited dining options in the area but uber eats and the casino are perfectly fine
