The shower was cold and despite me asking it was lukewarm at best. The safe didn’t work although they fixed it quickly. There was a damp stain on the ceiling. The partial city view was an outlook to a wall opposite and you could only see other buildings if you craned your head. I spent extra money for a luxury experience and was very disappointed. The breakfast was nice but over priced. The valets and waiters all made a smart looking front of house not backed up by our bedroom at all.

The hotel is going through a major refurb with noise and mess everywhere. This was not mentioned when making the booking as would have never booked it if known. The front veranda was closed and breakfast was a joke in the corner of the makeshift reception. Room was very tired and daily room rate very expensive for living on a building site.

Location, location, location! And a Art Deco gem, of course. The building itself is gorgeous. It is the main reason we stayed hear - just because of that (even when we heard a lot of unpleasant feedback about the ongoing reconstruction and all the inconveniences)...

Reconstruction. I don't think it's fair to welcome guests when you're doing such a big renovation. The client pays money as for a normal hotel, but does not receive more than half of the services (there is no restaurant, constant noise, the elevator sometimes does not work, it is full of buzzing construction workers, dust, dirt - you could name and name...) Walking through the side door (emergency) with the construction workers was also not much fun

The hotel was under drastic renovation with reconstruction work taking place in the rooms near me on the same floor. It was therefore very noisy from 8:30am onwards and smelling of welding all day in my room. The elevator did not work and I had to carry my luggage up and down the stairs. Warm water supply was irregular. At time of reservation, the hotel warmed me that the lobby, lounge and restaurant were closed for restoration but not that guest rooms will also being totally remodeled next to my room and that the all hotel was a construction site. When I complained, the room rate was immediately reduced by half but it was still too expensive to stay on a construction site. The hotel should be totally closed during such important renovation work.
