Great location, friendly staff, free parking, dated but clean rooms

I didn't like the size of televisions. They are too small to watch comfortably from the bed. The price is also extremely high.

Very good

Older hotel that is well maintained. Location was walkable to downtown Carmel. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean, and had half doors that could open to outside. My room did have a distant ocean view.

Too much room freshener used by housekeeping. I had to open all the windows, but the overwhelming smell permeated everything in the room.

Very comfortable stay in a great location

Great location in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea and close to a lot of other central coast towns and attractions, including Big Sur and Monterey.

There was no safe and the mini-fridge was quite loud.

Carmel is a lovely town but I feel this place lets the standard down. It was just ok and it was clean and a place to lay

Well located. Dog friendly (we didn’t bring a dog but there were others there). Has a decent pool which seems particularly good for families.

Looks like it needs an upgrade. Seems clean but dated and a bit worn around the edges. Only one suitcase stand in the room and no spares to be had so mine had to go on the floor (we were only staying 2 nights out of a month vacation so we were living out of our luggage). No place to set up the tabletop ironing board without putting the side table lamp or the coffee machine and our toiletries on the floor. Noisy. I can sleep through anything but it would be a huge negative for many people. When someone complained to the night manager about loud voices and people thumping around at midnight, rather than come up to investigate he phoned OUR room to say there had been a complaint, waking us up, when it was actually coming from the next floor.

Great location and hosts. Old building.

İ liked the location, private entrance and comfortable beds.

- İ found a hanging old spider web over one of the beds. - Due to the recent power outage in the town, wifi and other amenities were not available. - The building is old. The air inside did not feel fresh. Also İ could hear steps when someone runs on the upper level. - No bright light option was available. Only bedside lamps.

Cosy stay

We had a nice view from the 4th floor balcony room. The pool and sauna facilities were clean and well maintained. Our room was quaint and the location was close to the main area of town which enabled us to walk everywhere in Carmel.

Location was awesome. Food and shopping was close and easy to get to without having to drive.

Loved the room and the balcony. Staff was friendly. We visited at Christmas time and the whole town was beautiful. The our room had a full kitchen and fireplace complete with furnished logs. Large bathroom. Located within walking distance of Carmel's main shopping and eating areas. We never used our car. We walked everywhere. Also walking distance from the beach but uphill back to the hotel.

Depending on where your room is located, there can be lots of stairs. We chose to have breakfast off site.

Room had oder, took hours too warm room,parking difficult, difficult to walk around the perimeter, breakfast misrepresented ,not good for seniors.

Superb

It was quiet, clean and charming. Free parking. I liked that it was possible to open the top half of the front door to the room and see the ocean. Short walk to restaurants, shops and beach. Short drive to Point Lobos, Pacific Grove and Monterey. Friendly, pleasant staff. Breakfast consisted of juice, coffee, fruit, yogurt and pastries. It was not a hot breakfast but it was sufficient.

The pavement was uneven and it was not well lit between the hotel and the main street in Carmel. This is not the hotel's fault. Bring a flashlight or use the flashlight feature on your cell phone.

No electricity and dirty - awful experience

Easy and fast check in, easy parking

At 3-4 am electricity shot down, so it was: no devices charging, no heat (I woke up because of cold), no wifi, also I cannot prepare myself for an event in SF as it was dark in the room and I couldn't dry my hair! Also it was no wifi and no reception! Also it was a hair on my towels!

the continental breakfast was served in the tiny reception area. the area was completely full. There should be another area other than the tiny reception area, it was ridiculous.

It was such a nice visit

I loved the look of the hotel and how easy it was to access downtown Carmel.

The height of amenities was so tall. I honestly would have helped to have a stool.

Was close to town very quiet. Area and continental breakfast was good

Walls very thin you could hear people in next room chatting so I had to turn TV on louder than normal and SO MANY stairs if you have issues climbing steps you will not like the place

Friendly staff. Cozy and retro-looking room with big spaces and a small kitchen (no stove). Very clean. Good assortment of toiletries in the bathroom. Free Wifi

Breakfast is limited, it's served in the lobby. Not on tables but on the sofas present there.

charming room & decor; very comfy bed; beautiful view from our 3rd floor room facing west. SUPER EASY walks to great food, pubs, and art galleries. The incredible white sand Carmel beach is close by.
