Never will return -- and now am rethinking whether I'll ever pay in advance via Booking.com.

This is across the street from the beach, and I suppose the view is nice, but it was raining so the promised breakfast room with the view was closed. There was a breakfast of sorts -- croissants (choice of chocolate, ham and cheese or plain), orange juice, a basket of apples, instant oatmeal and their brewed coffee or tea. Not a fabulous breakfast, but OK. There was a nice coffee place a couple doors down, called Kracken Coffee, where we got our coffee and a delicious bacon date scone.

My friend and I booked an ocean view room, and paid $442; sent a message requesting a room with 2 beds, they have a ocean view room with a regular bed and Murphy bed, which we requested, and they responded saying they could honor that request, but when we arrived, the room was already taken and they had no other rooms with ocean view and two beds; they gave us a room with two beds, that had a slight view out of the corner, but as we later discovered, after dinner, the room had a big leak in the ceiling, so there was water on the floor near the door and a piece of glass on a sign on the door broke and left glass on the floor (which we picked up as best we could). It had been raining quite hard, but this was a huge disappointment and the man at the desk who first greeted us basically said he gave our room to someone else who was staying longer; and then handed the problem off to someone else to fix. The woman who was left trying to fix this issue was apologetic and promised to charge me just $249, and reimburse the $193 more I had already paid, but said it would have to be reimbursed through Booking.com since I paid via Booking.com; This was on Saturday, and I have not confirmation yet from Booking.com that this ever happened. I know they can't control the rain, but after paying nearly $500 for a room, to be told they gave it to someone else was terrible. And to be in a room that was leaking....! Incredibly bad maintenance and care. Their "solution" to the leak was to put a towel down on the floor. Management obviously didn't care.

We enjoyed our stay. Loved the evening dessert and being able to borrow bikes.

Location was beautiful. Breakfast was nice. Would be nice to have an egg option. The offered quiche was kind of unusual.

Our bed was not comfortable. Need counter space in bathroom.

Good location ,but needs updates

Oceanfront.

Noise from the ceiling. Expensive for the quality of motel. Need dark curtain on the front window from corridor for privacy

It was fun, relaxing and the weather was amazing.

The staff was amazing!!! Very friendly and polite something you don't always see. From the Front Desk to the 2 guys (sorry didn't get their name) serving breakfast. They treated you better than a restaurant. Plus, the amenities they provide from beach chairs, umbrellas to water and snacks. You can't get that usually. They go an extra mile for you. Was such a nice stay, hotel is a little old so you do hear the people above you but that doesn't make it a bad place. Would definitely stay again.

Free pie and ice cream!

The location is insane!!! And the rooftop terrace and breakfast was fantastic. It's a bit pricey for an older hotel but the free breakfast definitely helps. Rooms are funky with different themes. I would stay here again. Also free bikes and beach stuff to borrow. Loved it.

The hospitality was amazing, and all the employees were very friendly.

We love the greeting that David gave us we first arrived and each day after. The breakfast on the sundeck, the amazing coffee and food for breakfast, the pie and ice cream , all of the snacks and coffee available to us, day and night, the spa room with the tub, and the decor of the entire hotel. We liked that the bikes were available, but we did not have time to use them. Location was the best!

Exceptional

The staff are so friendly, night time snacks and bfast in the morning included. Beds are very comfortable. I enjoyed the balcony with the lounge couch facing the water. The hot tub was nice. Walking distance to everything in Avila Beach. Quiet room. Very romantic! Would definitely stay again.

The stay was comfortable & cozy. I loved how they paid attention to detail to make it that way!

Friendly and helpful staff, loved the breakfast, the location was right across the street from the beach, oceanfront lounging area where breakfast was served!

The jacuzzi needed updating as the jets were inoperable!

While not a 5 star resort by any stretch, the Inn at Avila is a pleasant & reasonable stay.

Friendly staff; funky (in a mostly good way) decor; great location; huge shower; cruiser bikes available; pie & ice cream at night, & coffee, etc... for breakfast

Loose floorboard; missing lampshades; hokey fake "fireplace"; labyrinthean stairwells & hallways.

Location was great, staff was very friendly. Bed was very uncomfortable, though

Breakfast was great and it was beautiful on the rooftop deck. The heaters were wonderful to have as it was a little chilly when we were there. It was nice to have ice cream served in the evenings!

The only thing we didn't like was the bed. It was very uncomfortable. It felt like we're were rolled into the middle so we didn't sleep well the two nights we were there.

if you’re looking for a great customer service a comfortable stay and right across the street from the beach this is the

they offer complementary bottled waters, breakfast and pine ice cream in the evening. I love the sundeck where they serve breakfast overlooking the ocean and the customer service is awesome.

I couldn’t get the fireplace to work so I used the space heater which was a little annoying because then it would get too hot and I would unplug it and then it would get cold and I would plug it back but other than that I love this place and I really could’ve said something and had that issue fixed I just didn’t feel like it

This hotel had a great location, awesome breakfast with beach view . They also have very nicely rooms with complementary water and ice creams . Also they provide bikes upon request . The hotel staff was super nice . The unique thing about this hotel was breakfast , it’s like they have there own version of Starbucks . loved the coffee here.
