I think this camp is up and coming and will be a great camp in the near future. Tents are nice they could use mosquito netting. Staff was really nice and welcoming. Food was good. Good value. Pool is under repair but in the future this will be a nice camp right outside gate.
No mosquito nets. Lots of dogs barking at hyenas all night

The staff was really nice! The food was good but the price is a little higher compared to Nairobi. The room is wide and there are facilities like hair dryer, ventilator and specially they put a hot water bag in the bed for the night. It was really nice.
The internet connection was very slow don’t and it happens some random black outs but it’s acceptable because you are immersed in the deep nature!

This is a cute little camp with a great atmosphere. We had a brand new tent which was really comfortable. The owners went above and beyond and gave our kids colouring in and marshmallows to roast on the fire. They booked tours for us and were super helpful and friendly. The tent is comfortable and the water nice and hot. The food was amazing!

The camp is adjacent to Masai Mara, separated by a fence, with wildlife quite audible on the other side. The food (dinner and breakfast) was good, and at dinner there was a major surprise which we appreciated a lot. The owners and staff are very friendly and the overall vibe of the place is nice. This could be a very convenient base for safaris in Masai Mara. We were connected to an excellent guide who accompanied us in the park for several days and really made sure that we saw all the highlights and more.
While the camp is located close to the Sekenani gate, it was not so easy to find, as one needs to turn left on a dirt road next to the Ten31 petrol station a couple of minutes before the gate. Near the petrol station there is a small sign, but it would be quite impossible to spot the marker from the main road without already knowing that it is there. The access road to the camp is in poor condition, and we felt that it would take very little effort (perhaps 10-20 hours by a couple of strong people) to make it a lot better by clearing out some of the very bumpy stones.

Amazing experience in a tent inside a natural space. During the night there are animals’ voices and we experienced to have a lion close to our tent in the night. The place is just on the boarder of the Masai Mara Park, it is like staying inside the park. But you pay a good price. We had breakfast, packed lunches and dinner ready everyday, excellent dishes. The staff is lovely and rhey look after you all the time, you feel safe.
Really nothing to mention

We visited this place with my husband and six of our friends. It was our first experience in Kenya and I must say it was absolutely excellent. We got a little lost on the way to Masai Mara and the helpful owner navigated us online the whole time and also picked us up for the final few kilometers to our accommodation. The last two kilometres are on a really bumpy road but can be done by jeep and even by car. All the time everyone was nice, friendly and gave us their utmost attention. The accommodation was great - we always had hot water in the shower, everything was beautifully clean. And the food... We enjoyed everything the local chef cooked, there was a huge choice and no one left hungry. They looked after us like we were their own.
On the penultimate day they had a surprise for us in the form of dancing masai and it was a wonderful experience.
Plus, my friends and I enjoyed swimming in the pool in the evening, which was awesome, especially after each day we were on safari. By the way, the entrance to the park is just a few minutes away from our accommodation.
I am reviewing from the perspective of a traveler who has visited over 80 countries, we are not looking for luxury and five stars hotel, I like nice and relaxed accommodation and people. Thank you for all this 🙏

The location was perfect - right near the entrance to Maasai Mara. The owners - who were extremely nice and helpful - connected us with a driver who was very knowledgeable. The food was great, the rooms large and comfortable, and our kids (and we) really enjoyed our stay.
The property is under (relatively) new ownership, and they are still working on improving the place. No problems, but it will certainly get better and better over time, as the improvements they are working on are completed.

The good parts: hospitable owners and good safari driver (Mr. Rolex)
Not so good parts: Location is extreme, the accommodation has infestation of bugs in the washroom especially at night, food quality is not so good, Wi-Fi is not available in the room, water in washroom is yellow and brackish, electricity issues, etc.
Solution: Better options are available in Narok city. Better to stay overnight in Narok and then travel to Mara in the morning. Mara safari can be easily completed in 1-day.
Thanks.

We fully enjoyed our stay at the Drunken Elephant - they provided the jumping-off point for the most incredible adventure our family has ever had. They made whatever kind of food we requested, holding off on any ingredients we needed to avoid. The guide they arranged for us was the most informed, impressive person we could have possibly imagined.

Everything! it’s a quiet jungle residence with lots of greensand trees, you can see monkeys everyday, sometimes cows and even elephant near the residence. The staff is the best, tried everything to make us comfortable. The Drunken Elephants is so near the Serengeti Gate only 10 Minute with car. We’ve spent 3 most wonderful days here♥️

Wow. this is an absolutely beautiful property. Each room is privately located surrounded by jungle with Baboons and cute vervet monkeys you can just sit and watch from you porch.
The best part might be the staff and owners. they really take such great care to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. they cook amazing meals. They can help arrange any activities you want to do in the area and helped me with arrangements for onward travel.
It is a great location just situated outside the Sekenani Gate. My room was absolutely lovely. Large with well appointed decorations. Super comfortable, clean and furnished with couch sitting area and table. The bathroom was fantastic. Tons of space, 2 sinks and the best shower in Africa. Very comfortable bed and so relaxing after a long day out on a game drive.
I cannot say enough great things about Drunken Elephant. I can’t wait to return for another stay.

Wow, what an amazing experience! Kenya is a remarkable place and the Drunken Elephant on the edge of the Maasai Mara was the perfect place to stage an African adventure. The Drunken Elephant is a wonderful camp in the middle of thick trees where you’ll see monkeys and baboons every day. It’s called a tent camp, but the “tents” are more like hotel rooms with canvas walls, full tiled bathrooms, flush toilets, hot water, and fresh drinking water supplied daily. The rooms have attractive stone floors, large comfortable beds, and electrical outlets near the beds, with chairs, tables and places for your clothes and luggage. The canvas walls have screened windows which can be covered with flaps for privacy and opened to view the wildlife and enjoy the cool breeze. Because the camp is located right next to the great Maasai Mara game reserve, wild animals can and will wander right into camp, including hyenas, leopards, lions and elephants. Because of this there is a full-time security guard who walks the grounds to keep guests safe. And each room is surrounded by strong wire fencing to discourage unwanted “visitors”.
The owners of the camp are amazing. Faheem, his wife Shivangi and his sister Jazeera treated us like family. They really know how to make you feel comfortable and welcome. They can literally supply you with everything you need or want. They provided us with transportation from the airport in Nairobi to the camp and had our driver stop in Narok for supplies per our request. At the camp they can provide you with delicious meals every day, and will even pack up meals for you when you go out on an excursion. They have their own Land Cruisers and employ a professional Maasai tour guide, Ngaruya, who is amazing. He was born and raised in the area and seems to know everything about the African animals. His stories are amazing and his passion for the animals, and finding them for his clients is remarkable. We took three, full day excursions...
...into the Maasai Mara with Ngaruya and we saw EVERYTHING! Hundreds of elephants, dozens of lions, giraffes, water buffalos, hippos and even the elusive leopards and black rhinos. We even got to watch the famous “Three Brothers”, three male cheetahs who hunt together, track and take down an adult topi. Ngaruya knows what to watch for and he had us literally meters away from the cheetahs when they took down a topi.
You can also book hot air balloon rides to view the savannah and wildlife from the sky. You can visit local Kenyan markets to mingle with the local Maasai and even visit one of their villages. We had this opportunity and were greeted outside the camp by Maasai warriors with singing and dancing and an explanation of their culture. We were then invited into their village where the women greeted and sang for us. The warriors showed us how to light a fire with two pieces of wood and we were shown inside one of their humble dwellings. They then showed us their hand made jewelry and carvings and we were encouraged to look at everything, and, of course, encouraged to buy as much as we were willing.
We travelled to Kenya with our family of four and the hosts at the Drunken Elephant really went out of their way to make us comfortable with movie nights and popcorn in the lodge and delicious meals, including a steak and chicken barbeque over wood coals, yum! Our son had a birthday while we were there and they even surprised him with a campfire, a private visit from the Maasai warriors, and a homemade birthday cake! At the end of our visit we had to reluctantly say good-bye to our new friends, and once and once again they provided transportation back to our Nairobi hotel and a ride to the airport once we had finished our stay in Nairobi. You will not be disappointed if you stay at the Drunken Elephant. The prices are far better than the other luxury camps, and they still make you feel like a royalty.

Great owners, who makes all for your perfect vacation. We desided to spend one more night there. Also when our car stacked at the Masai Mara park, owner with a team helped us very fast! They maked homemade cake for us, because it was my wife's birthday. Thank you, guys, you are amazing!
When it's rainy, it is difficult to find lodge.
Also there is bad road (less than 1 km)

Spotless tent-rooms, laidback atmosphere, quality sleep and relaxation and the best help from the family that runs it. They manage everything, including accommodation, food, safaris, transportation with high quality services. An experience to be remembered and a great value for money.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Drunken Elephant Mara! The reception and customer service was fantastic! The facilities were so clean and comfortable. Each tented room felt secluded and peaceful. Our group was large and had several children. This property was very family friendly and even had a maasai dance that the kids got to join in on. The food was delicious and the staff willingly packed breakfasts / lunches for us to take into the game park. We saw SO many animals in the Mara and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The Drunken Elephant was RIGHT outside Maasai Mara so we had such easy access. I would highly recommend staying there!
