Schöne Anlage

Schön gestaltete Apartments. Nettes und hilfsbereites Personal. Kleiner Pool, aber ausreichend. Möglichkeiten zum Billard, Tischtennis und Tischsoccer spielen, auch abends bei ausreichender Beleuchtung.

Preis- Leistung ist für dieses Arrangement nicht passend.

Great stay!

Loved the grounds, front porch with hammock and really nice staff! A bonus was the sloth on the property!

Needing to pay in cash. We didn’t want to bring that much cash with us for safety and it caused some stress needing to go to the bank to get cash. Loved everything else!

Webcam camera op het grote raam aan de voorkant van het huis gericht, privacy een beetje in het geding. Behalve een koelkast geen andere borden, bekers, stoelen of koffiezetapparaat aanwezig.

This hotel is a gem and I hope to stay here again!

A little garden paradise! We loved the private detached rooms, the friendly staff, great location, and the variety of plants.

A tiny thing: the towels were a bit rough.

We would stay there again!

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Roca Negra. The grounds were beautiful, the view out our front door was of the volcano and the staff(Elizabeth and Maria) was pleasant and very helpful with suggestions to enhance our stay. It has a very rural feel with the flora and fauna on property, yet walking distance to restaurants. Of utmost importance, our bed was very comfortable! The value was exceptional.

Perfect!! We will be back!

We loved this property. Elizabeth and Maria were such a help! The coffee and pancakes at the breakfast place were superb! Good location, We loved everything about this place!

If we are ever back in Arenal we'd definitely stay here.

This property is a birder's paradise! My friend had to work a couple of hours each of the days we were there so I spent that time on the deck with binos, camera and Merlin. The gardens and property are amazing. Close to all the spots we wanted to visit. Unfortunately weather didn't cooperate to see the volcano clearly.

Ein kleines Paradies im Trubel von La Fortuna.

Wir hatten ein grosses, perfekt sauberes Zimmer mit 2 riesigen Betten (No 12) mitten in diesem wunderbaren Garten voller exotischer Blumen und Bäume, die Kolibris schwirren an der Terrasse vorbei, wo man in der Hängematte mit Blick auf den Arenal entspannen kann. Es gibt einen schönen kleinen Pool. Jacuzzi ab 15 Uhr, Spiele, gratis Tee etc. Das Frühstück ist auch fein (nicht inkludiert) und das Personal sehr nett. Das Hotel liegt im oberen Teil von La Fortuna nah zu div Restaurants und Bars und auch nah an den Thermalbädern und dem Vulkan. Perfekt.

Das Inernet im Zimmer ist sehr schwach, aber im allgemeinen Bereich läufts bestens.

Best value for money with the BEST views

Beautiful surroundings, generous staff and very nice pool area. Overall I’d say great value for money and I found especially the bathroom much much nicer than based on the pictures. We stayed in a 4-person room. The view is to die for, when El Arenal shows itself.

A small suggestion for the breakfast provided on site: if a yoghurt, fruit and cereal option could be included in the choices, that would be great. Breakfast on site was very practical for us and we felt very much looked after by the ladies providing it.

Great stay

We enjoyed our stay in a cabin at Roca Negra. It was a great location just outside of town but also set back from the road just enough that it felt secluded and peaceful. We spent some quality time on our cabin's porch watching the afternoon rainstorms. The reception staff were very friendly and the breakfast was tasty.

Nice chalet, in a beautiful garden setting. You can sit down and relax on the veranda and enjoy the birds surrounding you (like hummingbirds). Pool with jacuzzi was excellent. Also enjoyed the ping-pong table.

Although a fridge is available, a small, basic self-catering kitchen would have been convenient.

Botanical oasis with BEST view of Arenal Volcano

Very nice staff and beautiful grounds with thw best view or Arenal Volcano from our porch, which had wonderful rocking chairs and hammock as well as a table area. Walking paths through a spectacular botanical garden with many birds. Secure locked gated facility with wonderful pool & hot tub (although a bit noisy from the road traffic). Also gaming area and lounging area. Close proximity to town. Large rooms and storage closet with good AC. 👍

They don't take credit cards. Beds weren't very comfortable. Pillows were too thick and plastic coating. Nor good access to electrical outlets for plugging in tablet and cellar devices. Bathroom had only one outlet and hair dryer plugged in across sink.

Wonderful lodge with Volcano view

Beautiful gardens and lodges. The proximity to town meant you had cafes and restos on your doorstep and no need for car. The pool/games room was great entertainment for kids during down time.

Disappointing

- The gardens were super nice and the room was spacious, modern and clean with a nice private terrace - The pool and jacuzzi were clean and especially nice to use after a day full of activities

- Staff unprofessional ( mocking the guests all the time), NO information about tours or support when we tried to book tours (that were actually advertised at the reception), this caused a lot of stress doing our stay since we had to waste time calling different tour agencies ourselves instead of relaxing - Really bad wifi connection - Breakfast not included - Payment just in cash - when we paid in colones instead of dollars the hotel used the wrong exchange rate to screw us over (and were sticking to this rate even though I showed them the actual exchange rate on my phone) We were looking forward to this hotel a lot since it was very well rated and looked beautiful on the Fotos. Unfortunately we did not feel neither comfortable nor welcome from the start. When we arrived we asked the lady at the front desk about activities in the area since we were looking forward to doing some tours etc. The lady at the front desk couldn't give us any useful information or recommendations. When we asked about the night tour for example she just told us that it's no good and that usually Nature tours are better in Monteverde. When we decided to book a night tour anyways she did not help us and just told us to look up numbers online. So instead of relaxing for the afternoon we had to try calling numbers to organize our tours ourselves. In a hotel that is rated so well and not cheap neither we expected way more support. Basically anytime we asked this lady a question she was just making jokes and tried to mock us - not very professional. When checking out we wanted to pay the price in colones instead of dollars. Here the hotel screwed us over with an exchange rate that's not the official one - when we asked the front desk lady about it she just said that when you change currencies this is usually what's happening which we didn't accept since we just wanted to pay the price on booking com and not more.

Great location, super nice grounds, great hosts and so many birds

Loved the hosts Elizabeth and Ohenia. They were both so approachable, knowledgeable and willing to let us practice Spanish with them! The rooms are giant and have very comfy beds. The shared outdoor kitchen is well stocked and always perfectly clean. It was a nice opportunity to meet with fellow travelers. The pool was well used by us! Super clean and quiet most days.

the wifi wasn't great in the rooms but was fine in the shared spaces.

We liked the location of the hotel, in a quiet part of La Fortuna with the view of Arenal. The garden was beautiful, the room was clean and spacious. We appraciated the possibility to sit in the terrace and also the use of shared kitchen. The receptionist, Eugenia, was very friendly and helpful. She gave us a lot of useful information about trips and tours in the neighbourhood.

There was sometimes a weak internet connection, especially in the evening.

Beautiful place

The rooms were spacious, comfortable had good air-con and shower. Not to mention a fantastic view of the volcano! Rocking chairs and hammock outside were lovely. The grounds were full of trees and plants which attracted a lot of beautiful birds. The pool area too was lovely. The jacuzzi between 3.30 and 8.30pm was great. Elizabeth was also very helpful and gave us lots of advice. We were able to make breakfast in the kitchen area and had fresh eggs from the chickens that roamed around the property. Overall a lovely stay, and if sharing with 3 or 4 people, very good value.

The location was perfect fie us, just outside of town with a couple of sodas, restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance. But we did have to get Ubers to the main attractions, so bear this in mind if you don’t have a car like us. An Uber cost $3.75 to La Fortuna and €7 to the national park
