Great location
There was a loud sound coming from vent all night.

Loved the style of the hotel as well as the breakfast available. Liked having enough space to park in the garage area under cover. Especially liked the friendly and kind gentleman who greeted us both times we stayed in the late evening.
We did not like sharing double beds and would have much preferred queen or king size. We perused alternatives with larger beds in the area for our second stay, but ended up returning because we liked the rest of the hotel and location so much.

The room was spacious, clean, and well furnished. The staff was accommodating and the refreshments in the lobby were nice to have. I loved that they had a water filling station as well.

La Playa .....has proven itself to be the MVP of Santa Barbara's coastal players!
Having just stayed the night at this beachside "Funk Zone" nirvana, I can attest that Santa Barbara is expensive as heck ---- simply because it can be!
Positioned just steps away from the harbor, this Mediterranean inspired enclave is the ONLY place that I'll "pitch a tent when braving the trek into town! Perched directly next to Avania, Lavender Inn, and Brisas as well, bearing in mind that I've stayed at each of the above, I can fervently attest to La Playa having fully perfected their craft.
Traveling from some 1,200+ miles away,......while originally a Southern Californian, myself, it truly makes my day amd warm my heart when hotel personnel actually take the initiative to read, review, and adhere to the "special requests" of guests to be.
Our top floor corner room was something directly out of Elle Magazine!
From the fridge, to the rainfall shower head, to the plush bedding and spectacular views - if Heaven can outdo this place, then I might have to rush my departure (...joking) and in addition to comping a bottle of vino for gratis, customer service was so spot on that I honestly wanted to recruit the staff and reposition them onto my payroll!
Aghhh. Now, if only their neighbors could take a lesson from their play book!
A paltry request would be the introduction of a nightly wine and cheese hour and a few more items to grace their morning continental breakfast. *** Man wasn't intended to survive on bagels and muffins alone! Toss some cheese, protein, and olives in there! It's Wine Country for crying out loud! :-)
Thanks again, all!

An overpriced hotel that falls short of providing guests even the most basic amenities. No drinking water in rooms. Guests must bring their own or ask reception for water. For $400 a night, at the very least, there should be two bottles of drinking water in every room. No glasses, only cheap paper cups, and although the hotel claims to have a tea/coffee maker in each room, there are no tea bags and no way to heat water if there were. No clock. No ceiling lights; just two lamps, one of which didn’t work. But the biggest problem is the air conditioning. It does not work.
My room was 78 F when I checked in. According to the owner, the hotel does not pre-cool rooms because he wants to save energy. I went out of the hotel because the room was unbearably hot, and when I returned 4 hours later, the temperature was 72 F despite setting the thermostat to 67 F. I had difficulty sleeping and called reception around 3 a.m. to report that I was unable to cool the room below 70 F. The receptionist told me the temperature is controlled by management, and his area was set to 70 F. Rooms are cooled via a central air-conditioning system rather than individual units, so either the thermostat was broken or the hotel had set the temperature throughout the building to 70 F, which means guests can use the thermostat to control temperatures above 70 F but not lower them below 70 F. I complained to the owner, but he was unsympathetic and unapologetic. He basically didn't give a damn.

Where do I start! La Playa Inn is a small but elegant hotel that is 5 minutes away from the harbor. I loved how the staff was so friendly and willing to give recommendations on things to do in Santa Barbara. It does not stop there. The room was comfortable and clean and the continental breakfast was good too. I will definitely be staying at La Playa Inn Santa Barbara when we come through again.
Not one single dislike about La Playa Inn!

Great location - close to everything, but in a quiet area. The inn looks like a new or recently renovated property, everything is neat and tidy, and all fixtures looked new as well. Our room was comfortable and quite spacious, with all the amenities.
It is not a big deal, but I would suggest adding make-up mirror to the bathroom because the wall mirror is a bit too far, and the mirror in the hall doesn’t have a good lighting for doing make up. Also the receptionist forgot to inform us about breakfast option in the lobby area.

Great location. Room, furnishings and grounds were very nice. We enjoyed our stay.
No clock in room and like most hotels these days no bar of soap (we were prepared and brought our own)!
Room rate little pricey, but typical of West Beach area.
It would be nice if they had a paper map of the area vs. relying always on phone. We found one at the Visitors Bureau on State Street.

Beautifully updated property in a walkable location to the beach and state street. Staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Definitely would stay here again!
Would have liked a full length mirror. Only had one mirror in the bathroom and it makes getting ready more convenient if you have more than one mirror with two people or more.
