Newly updated rooms are beautiful. Beds were comfortable. And I love that I can wake up and walk out onto the beach.
Hotel was a construction zone. It didn’t really bother us in the room but we almost got hit a couple of times by someone exiting out the wrong way.

I was not aware of the hotel being under a full remodel. My stay was 2 nights 13-15 February with an ocean view. My ocean view was obstructed .the construction. Jack hammers .lout talking workers gathering out side door started at 6-7 am I was charged a premium rate .room was not as advertised.
No parking near room and no way to get luggage to room on a cart. No working ice machines .no use of facilitys./ rec room or pool.parking lot full of connex containers And not knowing about construction.

location. Wonderful to sleep with the sound of the waves. Loved the deck outside our ground floor room. Steps from the beach. Minutes from good restaurants with free parking. Complimentary coupons for house wine (our anniversary). Nice linens & toiletries. TV nice size. Wi-Fi good. Beautiful view from lobby/bar. Quiet for a large hotel. Staff very friendly & helpful.
No towel rack by sink. No outlet for coffee maker where it was stored. No tea available. No free breakfast. No body lotion in the room. $30 resort fee & $22 parking fees not noticed when booking. Bathroom needs TLC. Shower curtain would not stay closed so water easily leaked out. Shower head very high for a short person to adjust. Not a fan of the bowl style sink on the vanity. Easily splatters water.

The view and location were great, along with the reception and bar area. This is what led us to book the Monterey Tides hotel, however, the experience was quite different in reality and did not live up to expectations
The staff at the hotel weren't very friendly or accommodating, the room was unfinished, tatty and dated and we stayed for three nights with no bedding changes, towel refreshes or room cleaning being done. Lastly, there were random charges taken from my account each day we stayed there. These costs were not clearly outlined prior to arrival or upon arrival at reception, and when I then asked reception staff about these they were really unhelpful and answered in a condescending manner.

we were on our honeymoon and travelling all around California, we didn’t had any bad experience until this hotel, the room wasn’t a 4 star hotel room but look actually like a motel, smell of dump and was facing the parking lot, the staff was so rude that when we check in they didn’t even congratulate us (and they a note that was our honeymoon) and when we check out half an hour later they didn’t even ask us why, the guy at the reception actually said you get what you pay for.

The hotel is amazing. It is beautiful! The location is majestic. The ocean-view rooms are a MUST. There is nothing like seeing the ocean from your room window as you lay in bed and hearing the sound of the ocean waves throughout the night. I loved it. The hotel has its own restaurant overlooking the ocean, the food was delicious. It is a little pricy but worth it. The hotel also has its own bar on the 1st floor that overlooks the ocean as well. The guest lobby by the bar also overlooks the ocean. Everything about this hotel screams- Ocean views. The patios have firepits for night fires people can gather around with excellent views of...you guessed it, the ocean. The beaches are clean.
The size of the rooms was not what I expected. They look bigger in pictures but they are smaller than you would think. The room's view makes up for the size.

great location on the water with many view options. the pool and hot tub were nice and clean. staff was friendly and accommodating. I appreciated the complimentary beverages at check in and the atmosphere
the view selection when booking was not too clear on the hat you got for a view. we would have preferred a view from the 2nd floor or above and would have paid for it, but it was hard to tell at booking. our shower had half a door and the water splashed out to the bathroom floor causing a huge puddle. we had to get extra towels to clean it up and you could tell there was already mold or water damage on the wall due to this issue. the refrigerator was warm and our food spoiled loosing us $30 of food. there was a smell of propane near the hot tub that made it hard to stay long.
I didn’t recall the price for parking where you pay daily to stay there. we ordered room service and it was prompt and friendly. my food was cold and the tortillas fell apart due to how long they were probably standing.
over all, the added cost and charges made me reconsider a future stay.

Nice location. Great place to hear the waves all night.
Rooms have big picture windows facing the ocean. Unfortunately, the walkway everyone has to use to get to their room runs along the front of the building and in front of the big windows. So, if you leave your shade open to see the ocean, everyone who walks by looks directly into your room. Or, you can close your shade so you have privacy, but then you can't see your view. I'd recommend staying somewhere that you can have your view plus privacy like if you had a balcony vs a walkway in front of your window.
Our ceiling had pieces of plaster falling off to the floor from a poorly repaired leak. Tiny tiny bathroom...so tiny you almost have to stand in the tub to close the door.
We were given free drink coupons upon check-in but when we took them to the bar they said "we're all out of the stuff we can give away free" ??
Our stay wasn't horrible but for the cost I think you can find a nicer place.

The property has a great location on the beach.
Front desk staff were great with the cancellation and refund of our booking.
The property was tired, dirty, damp, depressing and massively overpriced for what it actually offers.
The images on the website bear little resemblance to the actual property.
We arrived and checked out within an hour.

It had a sea view , car park was easily accessible
Room seemed very dark , bedding looked discoloured , duvet had been put into its cover upside down . Restaurant was Not open , only limited choice of bar snacks available . Bar waiter, struggled to understand & items were missed off the order, difficult In getting served at the bar , very limited seating for eating. Two free drinks were offered for restaurant being closed , but again very limited on what you could choose from.

Exceptional location - cant have it better. Right on the beach and 10 mins from downtown Monterey. The breakfast area at the Waterfront restaurant on the 4th floor has phenomenal views and wonderful meals. This place is ideal for relaxation. And the price is just right!
We were stuck in a storm and asked the reception if we could have a checkout at 1 pm instead of noon - was told we cant without a charge. Most rooms in the hotel were available. It's moments like these that make a world of difference in service quality. Monterey Tides missed the mark, unfortunately.
I would suggest they keep the bar open during lunch hours - it opens only in the evenings and shuts quite early at 10 pm.
Also, the privacy can be lacking in rooms as there is no private balcony - it's a common alley-way outside all the rooms. Hence, if you are in your room, you have to have the blinds lowered at all times. It's a shame - because the view of the water is unparalleled.

To be surprised with a 22 dollar Parking Fee per day.
It wasn't clear in Booking reservation. It clearly said ''private parking'' available among amenities.
The parking document handed when checked in did not mentioned the fee.
In addition, when I complained about it, the hotel employee just appologized for it but did nothing.
