Sep 2022What a great end to a fantastic holiday! The property had everything we needed for visiting yosemite etc and just chilling out on the balcony with a coffee on a morning and a beer on a night. Looking forward to staying again in the future.

Aug 2022Lisa was a terrific host- despite a logistical plumbing problem that kept us from staying in her property, she found us another place, made the arrangements and checked in with us to be sure everything was going smoothly. Top notch service, super easy to communicate with and very kind. I hope we are able to come back this way again.

Jul 2022very small parking space, when I arrived the place, there are already two cars parking on the driveway side by side, the driveway is on a big slope. the next day in the morning I need to call the owner to move one car on the driveway to let me out! Feel not comfortable!

Jul 2022I had a great stay, will definitely try to stay again when I’m in the area, and highly recommend! It’s up a mountain about 15 minutes from town, 20 minutes from Bass Lake, and an hour and a half from Yosemite valley (depending on entry gate line). The cottage was perfectly comfortable and clean. It’s on the owners gated property but was completely private from the owners house. The cottage had a ton of windows which offered great cross breeze, there’s an AC but I was comfortable with open windows and didn’t use it. There’s a great deck that offered an amazing view of sunset over the mountains. I had my dog with me and it was great to have access to their huge fenced side yard to run around. The owners were friendly, quick to reply to any questions, and low touch during the stay and check out, they were ideal hosts. The easy-to-remember personalized entry code was so helpful, I wish every host would do that! Thanks for the stay!

Jul 2022Bed was awesome, bathroom was more spacious than expected, so many windows to open and feel the breeze, deck was so nice, WiFi was great, really quiet location. Felt right at home. About 40 minutes from Yosemite which wasn’t bad at all. Driving around Yosemite was more tiring than we expected. Recommend the shuttles. Lewis Creek Trail to a waterfall was a fun hike when we were done Yosemite.

Apr 2022This was a great location and beautiful area. The cottage was comfortable and perfect for our 2 night stay. The town Oakhurst was also lovely and my husband and I were able to enjoy ourselves on our honeymoon. The owner was also easy to work with and had great communication.

Jan 2022This property has everything you need for a weekend getaway. The inside is much bigger than I expected, the patio on the backside is prefect for watching the sunset. The bed was super comfy, and the appliances are all new. There was plenty of space for the 2 humans and 3 dogs. The front patio gets the morning sun, perfect to enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea. We are very happy with this mountain getaway. Looking forward to returning soon. Our host, Lisa, was great at communicating with us about details. Thank you so much!

Jan 2022Our experience could not have been better!
Quiet neighborhood, beautiful view, and a lovely property.
The drive to Yosemite was not long at all and we cannot wait to be back as we are already planning for next year!

Jan 2022Our stay was wonderful! Everything was clean and comfy, making it easy to relax. We had to change gears after our previous travel plans were canceled, and we were so lucky to find this place. Lisa and Bruce were so nice. They let us borrow chains so we could go into Yosemite (which is beautiful in the winter). It’s a bit of a drive, but the drive beautiful and part of the experience. They were also so understanding when our pup had an accident in the cottage (which we promptly cleaned up!) The view from the deck was amazing. Definitely recommend and plan on coming back.

Aug 2021This gated property in the remote hills above the town of Oakhurst has two beautiful flags flying over the main house. The cottage is ideal if you are looking to get away and want peace and quiet. There is a beautiful Manzanita and a carved wood bear to greet you by the front door. The sunsets are lovely from the deck and you may have the chance to see wildlife. I saw a white fox, wild turkeys and their chicks, and a family of deer. There is a nice view from the deck, a comfortable bed, a coffee maker, a small fridge, a great bathroom with excellent water pressure and a wall air conditioner. Verizon phone service worked well here and to my surprise it worked on the Mist Trail, and on Clouds Rest in the National park.
I did not have the pleasure of meeting the hosts as they were out of town on my visit.
Things to know before you book:
* If you are coming to visit Yosemite for more than one day, plan on driving A LOT.
I timed it just to the 41from the cottage and it was about 25 minutes total. Speed limit is 35 mph on the 426 and about 25 mph on the winding John and Jean West Rds. Any faster and you risk killing wildlife.
* Not suitable for people who are scent sensitive or have allergies. Upon entry, I thought there was an air freshener that I could simply unplug. I soon discovered it was all of the household linens, towels, sheets, etc. They were washed in a bold scented detergent that permeated the living space. I tried opening the windows but it did not help. I had to strip the bed and remove the towels and bag everything because I was getting itchy, the odor was giving me a headache and the towels left a strong scent on my skin.
* If you visit in the dry summer months during a drought season you may need ant spray. I kept my food in a basket on a tall chair away from the kitchen area to avoid the ants. You cannot leave your food in your car because of the local bear. I did not bring my dog, but if you free feed your dog, the ants may get in the dogs food as well.
*There is no running water in the kitchen, making clean up challenging. You need to get your drinking water and any water for the kitchen from the bathroom faucet. I would plan on eating out and bringing as little food in the cottage as possible.
*Parking is on an incline, and leaving can be awkward because you have to back out on an incline into gravel and avoid hitting the electronic gate and post everytime you depart.

Aug 2021This was a wonder place to stay! It is close to Yosemite and all the recreation at Bass Lake which we did take advantage of. The hosts also provide a notebook with suggestions for hikes in the area. We had a grill at our disposal and took full advantage of this by grilling every night and eating dinner outside on the deck overlooking the valley. Honestly, if you are just looking for a peaceful retreat and don’t want to go anywhere this would be the perfect place to catch up on some reading or spend time with a friend or two or family. Very pet friendly too! Just lovely!

Jul 2021This stay was really nice. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was really big too. The AC and grill worked great and the back deck was really comfortable. We underestimated the affect of not having a kitchen, but that was on us. There was a bit of an ant problem and the exterminator was out to spray. This solved the worst of it but we still had ants. Assuming this is fixed, this is a nice place to stay to visit Yosemite, Bass lake, and the Oakhurst area or just recharge in a cozy place.
