This is a charming little home with all the amenities one could need (minus a dining room). The wood burning fireplace was our favorite. Our experience was excellent from the easy check in process to the communication with the property owner/manager. We’ve put this home on top of the list for places to stay in Charlevoix and hope to visit again soon.

We just enjoyed our third or fourth visit to this property. In my experience, VRBO's are exactly as they appear in the pictures. In this case, the pictures do not do it justice. It's just so cute! It is very clean and has everything you could possibly need. The beach is right across the street and even though we were there in January, the lake is always beautiful. The location is perfect to walk to town to visit the shops and restaurants. Although we had hoped to ski, the lack of snow prevented that but we found many other things to do in the area. Do not hesitate to book this property!

We love this place. It’s charming and cozy with a wood burning fireplace, and the front window looks out on Lake Michigan. It’s our fall getaway. We have been going every year for about 7 years.

My husband and I stayed in the half house for our anniversary trip and it was perfect for us! Yes, it's small and cozy, but it was a great home base for short day trips. We loved coming back and relaxing in the cute living room and enjoying a fire. Loved the easy checkout process!

Such a cozy beautiful stay, but is a tourist attraction, I wish it had a one way screen for the front window where you can see out but the tourist cannot see you sitting there trying to enjoy the view, its offputting and uncomfortable.

This house is even more charming than the pictures show. It was a perfect place for a long weekend for two people. Although it was cold, rainy and snowy while we were there, the fireplace kept this sweet little cottage cozy. Everything you can think of that you might need is provided in this little space. We highly recommend taking the Mushroom House Tour in the GEM car with Edith and the Charlevoix Haunted History walking tour with Annie. Visit the Weathervane for dinner and Smoke on the Water for breakfast. We are hoping to return to the Half House sometime in the near future!

We totally enjoyed our stay! What a cute and quaint place. The fireplace was wonderful. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the towels were great. The kitchen had everything we needed. We totally recommend this place and would definitely stay here again.

Staying at Half House with my sister was a dream come true ! The house was adorable. Earl Young and his wife were incredible artists. We took a tour of the Mushroom Houses, walked all around Charlevoix, shopped at stores and Farmers' Market, picked up a few special stones on the beach, and ate some delicious food. We had a ball !

I have always wanted to stay in a mushroom house ever since I learned they existed almost 20 years ago! The Half House did not disappoint! This quaint, darling "Hobbit House" was beyond charming! My husband and I were extending a long weekend after attending a beautiful wedding in Petoskey. It was our first time in Charlevoix. We loved the short walk to the beach on Lake Michigan and also into town. The coziness and charm of this little house will always have a special place in our Michigan traveling hearts! Thank you, Bill, for sharing this little gem and for being a wonderful host!

This is a great little cottage just a couple hundred feet from the Lake and a few blocks to town. Saw reviews about the height of the ceilings. My husband is 6'3" and could stand without issue, but did have to duck through the doors. It was fine for a few days and a really cute place and experience. The layout is good and would be great for a family with one or two kids that are okay being "upstairs." No dining area but there is a card table and TV trays available and that worked fine.

We loved our stay!! My boys (13 and 8) loved the beach across the road, the upstairs room and the downtown chess game! We walked everywhere! The sunsets from the house are fabulous. There are so many cozy/beautiful spots to sit in and outside the house. The house had everything we needed and was very clean! Perfect four night stay for the four of us!

Unfortunately, I was sick during the stay... the location is perfect, one block from Lake Michigan and two blocks from downtown! The house is nice but the smell from the fireplace hits you every time you open the door and when you're sick it makes things worse. If I wasn't sick, I am sure that I would have enjoyed it more.
