Oasis by the Santa Fe River - 4 Blocks to Historic Plaza; 1 Block to Canyon Road
About this house rental
Nestled in Santa Fe, this charming house for $490 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Casa Tierra is a unique historic adobe in a superb location: 4 blocks from the Santa Fe Plaza and 1 block off art-studded Canyon Road. This 2 bedroom/2 bath casita is tucked back from the Santa Fe River; the 6 minute stroll to the center of town is along shady sidewalks and seasonally flowing water. This authentic adobe is hand-mudded in the ancient ways of native peoples. It is this rare and lovely hand-applied earthen surface that lends the house its name, Casa Tierra - House from the Earth. Casa Tierra is one of only six all-adobe, all-mudded homes remaining today in Santa Fe. Upon entering Casa Tierra, you are greeted by a great room with high viga-beam ceilings, herringbone brick floors, fireplace, and museum quality art and antiques. The living room opens onto a granite topped kitchen with five burner stove. Both bedrooms offer a king or two-twin-beds sleeping option (new beds!) and each has its own joyfully tiled Talavera bath. Handmade doors, furnishings, carvings and woodwork throughout offer a rustic Old World ambiance. Casa Tierra opens out onto four private and inviting sitting areas beneath venerable Cedar and Cypress trees--perfect for communing with friends or simply relaxing and enjoying time alone. This is truly an Oasis by the Santa Fe River. PAST GUEST COMMENTS: "Of all the places we've stayed in Santa Fe, this is the best. The spirit is here!" --Jane Pratt-Shilling

Quiet, comfortable, exceptionally well equipped!
Comfortable furnishings, kitchen has everything needed to make your favorite dish!
Kiva fireplace burns real wood.
Carport is a big plus in winter. No scraping snow off the vehicle!
This place is close to everything worth doing in and around Santa Fe.
We might just make this our “go to” place in Santa Fe!

This was our second time staying here, and it was even more delightful the second time. The snow from the previous day painted quite a scene for our December visit. The historic charm of the house, the regional antique and art furnishings and its location make it a winner. A block from Canyon road, a reasonable walk to the Plaza, a short drive to the Randall Davey Audubon Center and proximity to other attractions and places of interest are the icing on the cake. We would not hesitate to recommend this VRBO listing and will certainly book it again when we return to Santa Fe.

Great location and the property was delightful - quaint in many ways as there were definite Historic characteristics - specifically the doors - Kitchen was well equipped - linens were nicely matched to the color scheme -There were 3 of us due to our 4th contracting Covid the week before and it was comfortable - 4 would have been tight - doable but tight. Would recommend!

Loved this place! Met up with dorm friends from NAU - we first slept under the same roof 50 years ago! We had a blast! It's a beautiful home and perfect location! Everything was perfect!

Charming cottage. Easy walking distance to the plaza and Canyon Road. Bring your slippers for the brick floor! Wonderfully decorated with lots of art. Very nice linens and fully equipped kitchen. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t permit us to use the small sunny back patio.

Due to a family emergency, we were unable to use the property and owners were so flexible. Was able to transfer to a friend.

My family enjoyed staying at this property. It was close to everything a tourist is interested in-shops, restaurants and museums. The home was well a
Printed and very comfortable in between outings. The owners recommendations for dinners weee spot on. The back patio area was an added bonus. Absolutely beautiful with the fall leaves. We can’t wait to come back!

The art, the artisanal furnishings/structural elements, and the adobe are essential southwest. You know where you are, and benefit from the owner’s care and choices in creating this special environment. In addition, the location is very convenient, the neighborhood is quiet and pleasant, and the house is very comfortable. We especially appreciated the labeling of the light switches, a level of detail that shows how the owner cares about customer satisfaction. We saw this from the beginning with excellent communication. Note, too, that the patios are lovely and that the heat and appliances worked well and weren’t complicated to operate. We couldn’t have asked for more - many thanks.

Outstanding property, perfect location and helpful property owner (we locked ourselves out). We are frequent Santa Fe visitors, first stay at this property and hope it is available when we return.

We loved our stay, truly an Oasis!
Easy walk to the Plaza which we really enjoyed one afternoon. After a brief rest at the Casa we had a delightful stroll on the path along the river which is across the street.
Unfortunately the following day there were thunderstorms so we weren’t able to walk to Canyon Road but it’s so close by and hopefully we’ll come back for another stay.
The kitchen has everything needed and we cooked a nice dinner the nite of the Thunderstorms.
The casa is lovely and we loved the history, beautiful decor and Vintage tiles! The yard is very nice but with the weather we weren’t able to spend time there.
Easy carport parking in front so you can leave your car and walk everywhere!

With in walking distance to galleries, shopping, restaurants and historic places. Great location for us to venture to the Albuquerque balloon fiesta 2 days. Loved the private outdoor space.
Overall pleased with our decisions to stay here and recommend to those traveling to Santa Fe.

We have been coming to Santa Fe for 40 years. This house was a great location to explore Canyon Road shops and galleries as well as a nice 10 minute walk to the square. The beds were comfy and plenty of towels. We even did a load of laundry. The outdoor space was perfect for enjoying coffee in the mornings and a cocktail in the evening. We will book again!

This property was the perfect place for our stay in Santa Fe. The casita was beautiful, clean and comfortable. We could not have been more pleased with the location of this oasis as it was within walking distance of both Canyon Road and the Plaza, both of which included numerous galleries to awe us and enough amazing restaurants to keep us well fed. The several block walk to the Plaza was still manageable even for my mother, who can often struggle with such activities. Any other sightseeing we were looking to do in Santa Fe was within a short (easy) driving distance (i.e. Meow Wolf, Museum Hill, Audubon Center, etc.). The home was quiet, well-appointed, and extremely comfortable for our stay in May. We easily made breakfast each morning and occasionally stayed in for dinner, since the kitchen was well-appointed and included some pantry staples. I'm not sure if it was all the walking and fresh air, or the plush, comfy beds, but we all fell asleep easily each night. Each morning we were serenaded by a variety of songbirds, which is a much better way to awaken than an alarm clock. The description and pictures of this oasis are on point, and we would highly recommend it for your trip to Santa Fe.

Immerse yourself in this lovely Historic District casita. All of original Santa Fe is steps from your doorway. The art of Canyon Road is a block away.
But the magic is the owner who generously shares her esthetic and knowledge of the Navajo culture in the design and decor.
Our family enjoyed our stay immensely.

This property embodies all that Santa Fe is and was. Combining history with modern conveniences, the best of all worlds. Kiva fireplace and relaxing outdoor patio area. Walk out the door and your walking along the river, then to the plaza and Canyon Road. I would return in a heartbeat!
