Great location right on the water with amazing views. Quiet but easily accessible to surrounding fun. House was great. Slight sulfur taste to water but I brushed my teeth with it no problem. Also showering was fine. I didn’t detect any smell of the house. It was fun.

We had a wonderful time at this magical place. The seaside air is amazing and the views of sea, sky, and wetlands are extraordinary. The house is cozy and well-stocked with comfortable bedding, ample kitchen utensils, and various toys for floating or paddling in the Great South Bay. We especially loved the upstairs living/sleeping area. It is full sunlight and fresh air, affords panoramic views, and provides a deeply relaxing atmosphere for a good night’s sleep. We watched the sun rise and set from the wraparound deck on this level, while listening to the gentle waves of the bay lapping at the beach. If you can pull yourself away from all this, the village of Bellport is charming, and there is a terrific fish market in Mastic. Anita is a wonderful and responsive host and this private oasis is a great place to unwind and recharge. It really embodies the Scandinavian concept of “hygge”. We didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to return!

This is a tough review to write. I wish I could give it 5 stars with so much to love: the fabulous location and house design -- a wrap-around deck on the waterfront where you can watch the sun and moon rise and set...a peaceful sanctuary is just what we were looking for. The house is clean, full of cool art and relics, and stocked with pretty much everything you need, except ice and water. We noticed that others here recommended bringing in your own water, and glad we did, as the well has a bad smell. But it wasn't really a problem. Anita, the host, is very responsive and cordial. The local neighbors were friendly and helpful. We even heard the local wild peacock the first night we arrived! The big issue with this home is the air quality. It is an old house by the sea, so I guess it's not a surprise that it has a musty smell. I thought we could get used to it, but several members of our family have asthma, so it became a real problem by Day 2. My husband didn't mind it, so, if you aren't sensitive to mold or have lung issues, then it probably won't bother you. We had to spend a lot of time on the deck, but that wasn't a problem since they have a bunch of really comfy chairs to lounge on. (We did notice the upper deck wobbles when you walk on it and that made me a bit nervous) The house is definitely in need of some TLC in terms of maintenance, but it is one of the coolest homes I have spent time in. Would be great for a group of friends or couples. I imagine the owners had a lot of fun in this home over the years -- I heard stories of a beach club and neighborhood clam bakes that harkens back to its glory days. The marshes and bay waters are beautiful and endless, though there's not much of a beach -- it feels more like a lake. The yard is nice and the kids played in the grass. We went to Fire Island to the beach to swim about 20 mins away. It was nice there and they have a bar/restaurant on the beach. All in all: a home with great bones, a great location but not great air quality, even with all the windows open on a cool, beautiful day. If you don't mind that, then you will love this unique home and nature sanctuary.

The views are wonderful! Home is stocked with all you could need to enjoy your stay. But the home is full of mold and the odor is unpleasant. And I am being nice. The water must be well water and needs attention because it smells like rotten eggs. And the showers have no water pressure at all. The home is damp and the A/C units in the windows make the home damper. The driveway and parking was an issue. I never leave bad reviews but for the amount of money I payed this home is not worth it. It was not comfortable and I am totally bummed out. And I am sorry to feel this way.

Our little getaway was magical courtesy of owner Anita who checked us in with her sweetheart pooch. My husband and our 13 yr old lab, Eva, enjoyed breathtaking sunrise to sunset views of the bay and fire island. Wonderful seafood from nearby Mastic. There was no reason to leave the house. We had friends in one night and rushed back from others in East Hampton to relax and enjoy our piece of heaven as the sun went down. We can’t wait to go back!
