Nestled in San Antonio, this attractive entire house for $295 per night is a great option for your next break. This peaceful, five-acre gated estate is located in the heart of San Antonio. Hundreds of surrounding oak trees will make you feel like you are in the Texas Hill Country. The estate is family friendly and includes a swimming pool, tennis court, basketball court, and playscape. Whether you are looking for a relaxing retreat or plenty of room to let the kids run, play, and swim, The Garden House and its sprawling grounds will fit anyone's needs. The Garden House is a 1,800 square foot guesthouse with mid-century modern and transitional décor. The Garden House accommodates 6 people, has a spacious living area with a TV, a dinning area that seats 6, and a fully equipped kitchen. The master bedroom includes 1 king bed, and the guest room includes 1 queen bed. A second living area includes a card table, bar, and queen size sofa bed. The Garden House boasts equally impressive views of the surrounding oaks trees with two calming water features. From the peaceful back deck, you can enjoy a distant view of the San Antonio downtown skyline. Also available for rent is The Ambassador House. The Ambassador House is the main house on the estate. It is a mid-century modern home with 5,000 square feet that comfortably sleeps up to 12 persons. The Ambassador is beautifully furnished in mid-century modern and transitional style with modern artwork. The master suite includes 1 king bed, coffee bar, sitting area, walk in closet, and private bath. The other 2 bedrooms include 2 queen beds each and a shared bath. The study accommodates two more persons on a twin size daybed and a pull out twin bed. The study also has its own full bath. The Ambassador House also includes a game room with a TV, bar, and pool table, a formal living area, a dining room with seating for 8, and a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast nook for 6. We want your experience to be exceptional. A maintenance/grounds keeper, who resides on the estate, will be available to assist in making your stay as comfortable as possible. *The Ambassador and the Garden House rent independently of each other and may be rented to separate, unrelated parties. All renters and residents on the property have access to common areas such as the pool, tennis court, basketball court, and playscape. When more than one group is staying on the property, we ask the two groups to communicate with each other via text or email to coordinate use of the pool or other common areas. This way each group will have time to enjoy private use. There will be cleaning supplies available at the pool for your convenience. *Tennis rackets and balls, pickle ball paddles and balls, and basketball are available at the property.

Apr 2017WE stayed four nights at the Garden House. The property was very relaxing as we were surrounded by a "live Oak canopy" jungle full of various types of vegetation (some tropical). Loquat trees bearing fruit everywhere, several types of birds (cardinals, finches, blue jays) singing, squirrels, stray cats, and several deer were seen on the property numerous times while we were there. The home was furnished with a comfortable bed, lots of windows that had adequate treatments to close off the outside but we never did, no one could see in for all the trees. We hosted a dinner party for six and had service enough and cooking supplies/utensils to prepare a nice meal. I worried about parking in front of the house because it might block the road but we managed to get over to one side and there was enough room for a vehicle to pass. Good water pressure for a nice hot relaxing shower. Laundry room was very large and had soap for clothes and dryer sheets available. The deck was built around the trunks of two mature live oak trees and there were fans to circulate the air. Although the time we spent there the temperature was so cool we even had to turn the heater on one night. We did not go swimming (pool towels provided) or play tennis but there is that option, rackets and balls are also provided. All in All a nice home to get away... a real escape, conveniently located near loop 410 west and I 10. There is a medical center pretty close to the property and aside from hearing the occasional siren it felt like we were off in some secluded ranch...not in a city of over a million people.

Jun 2018We rented the Garden House and the Ambassador House for a family celebration. Perfect in every way, great space, beautiful setting, it is like having your own personal resort. Marco makes everything easy, everything you need to know is provided in advance, and onsite caretaker handles anything that develops.

Jul 2017We recently used the property to celebrate my wedding weekend and it was perfect!!
We used both houses to accommodate the wedding party. We were able to have our rehearsal dinner Friday night and then transform the backyard into our reception space Saturday evening. From start to finish, the entire thing was better than I could've ever imagined. I was concerned about it being too hot or bugs taking over, but all of the trees provided plenty of shade for all of our guests. The backyard is so spacious. There was plenty of room for the guests to roam around freely and even space for the kids to run around and play. When the sun starts to set the back patio area is lit up by globe string lights with a few spot lights in the trees so the ambiance was beautiful. Once all of the guests had gone, the remaining wedding party and their families got to enjoy the pool. They all loved it!
Everyone has said nothing but great things about the property. All of our wedding guests absolutely loved it! Even our wedding photographer fell in love with the house!
Marco and Edgar were a delight to work with. Marco was always very responsive and helpful! I met Edgar sometime last year to look at the property and he was more than accommodating. Anything we needed or any questions we had, he was there to help us out!
Our wedding weekend could not have been more perfect! And I can't say enough good things about the property and the owner! Can't wait to go back again!

The Garden House is perfect for our needs: an oasis in a big city yet centrally located (it takes us 17 minutes to drive downtown; 1 hour to Fredericksburg; 12 minutes to our daughter's on the NW 1604 loop & La Cantera); nicely furnished; huge master suite; gated property in gorgeous historic neighborhood; etc. There is a property manager on the plantation site, Edgar, that is totally customer focused. We would not consider staying anywhere else

Aug 2016We had a great four night stay at this wonderful home. It is a gated property with two homes available for rent - we stayed in the smaller garden house - and the property is like an oasis in the center of San Antonio. Once you enter through the gate, you feel as if you are in a beautiful park. The setting is green and lush, and very quiet. The home was well-appointed with everything that we could need. The rooms are spacious. We watched deer in the backyard on the first night. We were in a perfect location to visit the Riverwalk, SeaWorld, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and a movie theater with our son, daughter-in-law and grandson during our long weekend stay. Shopping nearby. While on the grounds, our grandson could swim in the pool.
We are frequent users of HomeAway and VRBO and this is one of the nicest properties we have stayed in. Highly recommend. We would definitely come back again.

May 2017This is a wonderful property. It's beautiful, inside and out, with a back deck looking into the trees that makes you feel as though you are deep in the woods - not a half mile from a major freeway. The inside is well decorated, comfortable and was very clean. The owner (or owner's rep), Marco, was incredibly responsive (usually five minutes or less to respond to any inquiry) as was the onsite property overseer, Edgar. The location is central - 15 minutes from downtown and I assume a similar distance from Six Flags/Sea World. If this property is available, we won't stay anywhere else when we return to San Antonio.

Nov 2016The Garden Home is a wonderful place to kickback and relax. The trees around the home in this gated compound are awe-inspiring. We had dinner with family and friends one evening and had everything we needed in the kitchen to cook a meal of beef tenderloin, fresh asparagus, potatoes, and banana foster for dessert. Bedrooms were comfortable and bathrooms were well supplied. It's was hard to believe that I-10 and loop 410 were just blocks away. We will definitely come back. Jose

Aug 2021Serene and delightful, this house is beautifully appointed and a joy to spend time in. Deer roam as if it’s their property :) The conveniences of the city are less than a mile away, but you would never know it. The property manager and on-site caretaker are available and responsive to any question or need. We plan to return as soon as possible.

Jan 2019Our family stayed here during New Year's Eve and loved it. The house is so spacious and beautifully decorated! The 5-acre property is spectacular and I recommend renting the Ambassador House also if you have a big group. While on the property we saw lots of wildlife which was so cool. A gray fox, a huge white-tailed buck, two great horned owls and a cara cara bird of prey. I highly recommend this sweet home.

Apr 2016Our family spent a wonderful week in this garden house, which is indeed in a garden-like setting but is not small at all. Its 2 bedrooms are large and comfortable with huge modern bathrooms and doors to the back deck and front patio. With 3 kids, we converted an extra room into another bedroom for the kids. The house has a modern kitchen, laundry and living space. Loved it all, although we did have trouble finding a cutting board since there are so many drawers and so much space in the kitchen. The property manager and caretaker were both very helpful throughout our visit. Highly recommend! We don't know if and when we'll be back in San Antonio but will stay here again if we do.

It’s located 10 mins from everything we needed - Med center, the rim, golf courses, restaurants, etc - yet surrounded by trees and wildlife in a very nice neighborhood. The bed was amazingly comfortable, and the deck where you can sip morning coffee while deer feed and birds chirp was the most peaceful way to start your day! It was perfect for recharging for the week. We will return - it has everything we look for in a rental.

Dec 2017My extended family - 11 adults and 10 children - recently rented the Garden House and Ambassador House. We had plenty of room for everyone to spread out. At any one time, we had people playing pool, watching TV, playing board games, and chilling out with some quiet time. The kids all loved the tennis courts and deer watching.
The property is very quiet. It is located near shopping and not far from the downtown attractions.
We managed to cook Christmas dinner for all 21 of us with the dishes and utensils provided plus a few big roasting pans from the grocery store.
My crew can be hard to please, but everyone agreed it was a great house for our large group. If we decide to spend another holiday together in San Antonio, we will be renting here again!

Apr 2018I reserve my five stars to places that enhance a vacation all on their own, and this one fits the bill. A huge guesthouse with a great kitchen and all the cooking tools you need. Large treed grounds, and a feeling of being guests to the Manor House that takes centre stage. All within easy distance of downtown. After each day of activities, this was a great place to come home to. And on site staff and management were very accommodating to our every need.

Even though the house is older and could undergo a renovation, we appreciated it how it is because you rarely see old floor plans anymore. I loved all the large windows and all the entryways. Every room has a view of the property so even tasks like washing dishes or folding laundry were pleasant. I think that if the house was renovated it would make it way above our price range so I'll be happy if they keep it how it is bc we really felt like we walked back in time as soon as we went inside. It's cozy, beds are very comfortable, you wake up to the sound of the water fountain outside your window and you simply can't get this experience in a hotel for that price. I have 5 kids so in a hotel we are always on top of each other and at the house everyone had room to move around, we cooked some meals and comfortably stayed for 4 days and 4 nights. Also, it is literally a min away from the freeway and close to all attractions. Most of our drives were 20 min or less. In the mornings we got lucky enough to see a family of deer walking through the backyard and at night when we got home from our outings we relaxed in the back balcony. Can't wait to book this property again for our future stays in San Antonio. Thanks again for letting stay at the Garden House
