About this house rental
Situated in Historic Montford, this charming entire house for $100 per night is a great choice for your next break. This cozy two-level 1905 Carriage House was renovated over the last 30 years to function as a modern home while retaining historic integrity and charm (the main house burned down in the 70's). This was my architectural design studio while I lived in the cottage next door, during the construction of my new home on the front part of the property about 8 years ago (featured in Fall 2010 Fine Homebuilding magazine). Accessed by a quiet old carriage alley, within 12 min walk to our vibrant downtown and UNCA, convenient to I-240, yet in the middle of a registered historic neighborhood of lovingly restored homes and B&B's. Wood floors and windows throughout, tastefully furnished with leather couch, table for 6, W/D, fully equipped kitchen (incl utensils, pots/pans, cooktop, microwave, etc), (no DW), two sets of linens, comforters, etc., CATV, wireless internet, and all utilities included. 12mb wireless network is private, but shared with the cottage next door. The House is on two levels, with the larger master bedroom and bath (with shower) on the lower level (unfinished storage bay is adjacent), with a door outside to the covered stone patio. Other rooms are upstairs, including a second bedroom and bath, with clawfoot tub, the living area spilling out to a large elevated deck tucked under a mature tree canopy, surrounded by lush landscaping creating privacy and shade. The Carriage House is adjacent to my circa 1940 rental cottage (#431599) 30 day minimum, unless gaps between reservations allow shorter stay. Also within 10 min walk to Wholefoods grocery, several neighborhood restaurants, parks, a historic cemetery, YMCA, etc. Perfect place to live while relocating. The driveway from the one-way alley is between two stone walls and is tight, so large SUV's or trucks require patience. Parking for three cars is shared with the cottage, so one car each unit is preferred.

Great home away from home!
We spent the month of March in Michael's wonderful carriage house. It felt like home for us and we wanted for nothing. The description of the house was perfect and it was all buffed and polished for our arrival. The location is wonderful. Every morning we walked to a neighborhood convenience store for a newspaper. We also walked into downtown Asheville frequently for dinners, lunches, shopping, the symphony and the Home and Garden Show. A large grocery store, Blockbuster video, the University of NC, the Botanic Gardens and any other amenity is only a 5-10 minute car ride away. Michael was a gracious host and helpful with our questions about the area. Even our cat Bella felt right at home! We highly recommend this facility. Cherie, Randy and Bella

We spent one month in the carriage house and enjoyed every moment. The house is tucked away down a narrow, flower-filled alley. It's super quiet (just some bird song to compliment your morning and evening), yet super convenient to downtown Asheville and the greater Montford neighborhood. You will need a car to see all of Asheville and the surrounding towns, but most amenities are within walking distance to the house (3 grocery stores, a cute cafe, cocktail bar, restaurants). The layout of the house was great for working from home, as there is wifi access on the patios and 2 bedrooms comfortable for separate Zoom calls. The house has all the basics, plus charm - we had want for little more. We'd definitely consider staying again.

Excellent Home Away from Home
We reserved the Carriage House for 3 months and liked it so much that we extended our stay for two more months. The location is excellent for taking in all Asheville has to offer. We hardly used our car because we could walk everywhere. Michael and Lisa gave us the privacy and independence we wanted but were available when we needed them. We became very attached to their dog, JJ, and even took him on our walks. All in all a very comfortable stay. We'll be back.

Fantastic Montford perch, cozy and central!
We give this rental unit our highest, enthusiastic recommendation. Easily walkable to downtown Asheville, and with two very different but equally satisfying eateries a block away, the Carriage House is an ideal landing spot from which to sample and immerse yourself in Asheville culture. UNC-Asheville is less than a mile away as well, as are some very fine grocery stores. The house is comfortable and the owners have it well-equipped for short- or long-term visits, If you're bringing work with you, the location itself is a quiet respite, even though minutes from "the scene." Montford is a pleasure to explore on foot, and the neighborhood is friendly -- we always felt safe anytime of day or night. Enjoy!

We enjoyed staying at this updated carriage conveniently located in Montfort. It was within walking distance of grocery stores (3), restaurants, downtown, and the visitors center. There was off street parking and our landlord was extremely responsive to our needs. We would definitely stay again. There is a ground level bedroom and on suite bathroom with another upstairs. Stairs were not a problem for us. The neighborhood is very quiet and we slept well.

Asheville at the Carriage House
We enjoyed our stay at the charming carriage house on Cumberland Alley. It was comfy with wonderful outside spaces to enjoy the cool mornings. All was as portrayed on line. The owner and the neighbors were friendly. Asheville was as fun as it always is! Definitely I would recommend it.
