Located in Iowa, this lovely house for $183 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Was voted the BEST Romantic Get-Away in Wisconsin!! The 1954 Red Railroad Caboose provides seclusion on five wooded acres located four miles from the Mississippi River. The Caboose features a conversation area, an updated kitchen, new bath and gas fireplace. A double size futon and set of bunk beds provide sleeping for up to four people. Relax on the outside deck or in the hot tub while surrounded by nature at it's best. Enjoy all the activities which nature provides, including trout fishing within walking distance. Local dining is plentiful and casual with the well known Great River Roadhouse overlooking the Mississippi River only a fifteen minute drive away. Sit in the cupola of the caboose and read a book or scope out the wildlife from the wrap around view. Pets: Pets are accepted with an additional, non-refundable charge of $40 payable at time of reservation. Pets may not be left along in the Caboose or on the property. Guest Clean Up: Bed linens and bath towels are provided. Prior to 11:00am check out guests are required to clean the caboose and leave it in the same condition as check-in. We had a lovely weekend getaway at the caboose with our dogs. Enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub, reading in the perch, and walking around the Rush Creek nature area!

This was an incredible stay. We booked a last minute trip to get away from the city and it was exactly what we were hoping for! Beautiful, tranquil and John was so wonderful. Great communication and very easy check-in process! We explored the surrounding area and local restaurants, wineries and dive bars - all fantastic. Everyone was so friendly. It's such a unique experience and we cannot wait to go back.

I stayed at the caboose in 2011 and always wanted to come back. I was so glad the caboose was still a rental property to enjoy and loved the updated bathroom and kitchen, as well as the deck and hot tub screened house. The property is quiet and secluded - you can't even hear any road noise save for the occasional passing car. The dense wooded lot is beautiful in any season. The caboose has all the amenities needed for a relaxing getaway and I love that is it dog friendly too. We explored the Great River Road - Pikes Peak State, Effigy Mounds National Monument, and got to see the Tundra Swan and other waterfowl in their fall migration along the Mississippi flyway. I can't wait to come back!

The Caboose is supplied with everything you would need. Very cozy and inviting. Secluded and quiet. Watching the eagles soar was amazing! Just what we needed.

As we turned into the property the caboose was everything you said it was and more. Although cold that day the caboose was warm and inviting inside. Everything was clean and orderly. We used both the bunks and futon (both comfortable). The bathroom was very updated. Didn't have a chance to cook, but kitchen was well stocked with utensils/ flatware/ etc. Check out very easy (just text Owner). Enjoyed our stay.

The caboose is a great getaway from anywhere! Beautiful, secluded location on a gravel road. Total privacy with a perfect mix of history and modern amenities. Even with a chilly rain, the hot whirlpool beneath a screened gazebo was enjoyable. Best to bring your own meals and cook them right there in the galley kitchen (other than within an oven) so as to make the most of your cozy stay right there at the property.

Our stay at the caboose was great. It provided everything we needed for our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and exploring the surrounding areas. What a beautiful part of the state! Side note. It’s wonderful that the property is dog friendly, but if you have an older dog that has issues with steps it is good to know the steps into the caboose are quite steep. I had to lift my older dog up the stairs. I would still highly recommend this unique rental property if traveling in the area.

What a great time for our family. The caboose and hottub were absolutely perfect. It is about a 15min drive down to the Mississippi where my partner and our son were able to do some fishing. Our daughter loved soaking in the hottub and watch the mama bird fly in and out of the nest to feed her babies. Love this place! Thank you

Wonderful property, very clean and well kept. Great place to get away from it all for a few days. We unfortunately had to leave early due to a family medical issue but John is an excellent host and went above and beyond taking care of us. Highly recommend!

This was our first trip to the Driftless Wisconsin area, and we are officially smitten. What a beautiful part of the country, and what a gem this VRBO is! Everything was just as described, communication was flawless, and we had a wonderful time. The caboose is, of course, tiny. But it it outfitted very well. The hot tub screen porch is amazing, and we spent all three nights of our stay boiling ourselves until the wee hours. Thank you so much for this amazing space! We hope to be back!

Such a great escape for anyone from the city. If you are looking for a quiet getaway this is the place. Beautiful property, fantastic hot tub, wonderful interior if you are looking to escape the heat for a bit. Location to several small towns is perfect.
