Nestled in Newry, this attractive house for $259 per night is a great option for your next trip. Only a 5 minute drive to Sunday River Resort's South Ridge Lodge, this new log sided 'cabin' is located in the very upscale neighborhood of Powder Ridge in Newry, Maine. NEW for 2023-2024 ski season, the cabin will come with a PARKING PASS for the lot next to the Whitecap Lodge. The entire front of the house is glass and displays three levels of spectacular views of all eight peaks of Sunday River Resort. Completed mid-December 2013, it boasts over 1500 square feet of living space spread out over three floors. This vacation rental enjoys a mix of modern facilities combined with antiques and rustic high-end decor. There are two bedrooms and two full baths as well as a loft with a bed and futon and a bunk bed in the lower level. The comforts of home include all brand new amenities such as: WI-FI, two flat screen Smart TV's, YouTube TV, DVD player with movies, stereo system with in-ceiling speakers, pillowtop mattresses, two sitting areas facing the mountains (one with a woodstove), a full kitchen complete with dishwasher, refrigerator, oven, microwave, KEURIG Brewing System and two new charming full bathrooms decorated in Rustic Moose and Bear style. It even has a washer and dryer for use by guests. This is an all year round property to be enjoyed fully in each season. You will find downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice skating and tubing in the winter, all within 2 miles of the property. Golfing at the prestigious Sunday River Golf Club is only 5 miles down the road while the Bethel Inn & Country Club course can be found in downtown Bethel, 7 miles in the other direction. Hiking in this area of Western Maine is a real treat with many trailheads located at spots like Grafton and Evans Notch State Parks. If you are coming to the area for one of the many unique WEDDINGS held every year, why not make it a family vacation and explore all there is to see and do. Go swimming at the 'S' or Frenchman's, both on the very rural end of Sunday Road, take a chair lift ride to see the unbelievable fall colors, try your hand at The Tough Mountain Challenge or The National Wife Carrying Championship. Or just sit back by the WOODSTOVE in the lower level family room, kick off your shoes, have a glass of wine, pet your dog and watch the stars and the weekly FIREWORKS display. I stayed for 2 nights with two other moms and our 14 year old daughters. The place was adorable and super clean throughout. The layout was amazing. The girls got their own spot in the lower level which was nice. Having 2 showers was key! I would definitely return. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because there was not a hot tub and there was not a parking pass as advertised. Everything else was better than expected.

We stayed at this house in September for a family wedding. Everyone in the group loved the house. It was so close to the venue, breweries, golf course, and had amazing views of Sunday River. The hosts were very helpful leading up to our stay, and everything was perfect.

Tom and Kim are excellent hosts who have allowed us to have our fourth family trip to their amazing cabin! This annual vacation has become a staple for us because of the unique topography of the region, the numerous outdoor activities and yes, the incredibly comfy and fully appointed cabin surrounded by beautiful mountain views and nearby to good ol’ fashioned swimmin’ holes and hiking. Thank you again!! Looking forward to returning…our girls absolutely love our Maine trips because of you.

My wife and I booked this property for a long weekend with my sister and mother who flew in from out of state. It was the first time we had all been together since before Covid. The property was clean, spacious, and located near all that the area has to offer. The views of Sunday River were spectacular!
It was almost the perfect getaway.
There was only one issue, which I feel is necessary to mention, but is no fault of the owners. Next door is a HUGE vacation/event rental called The Heights. Saturday morning we went out for some hikes, followed by lunch at the Sunday River Brewery. We had planned to spend the afternoon at the house and hoped to enjoy the balcony and fire pit so we could catch up a bit. Upon returning to the house we found that the event rental had some massive party going. The music was so loud that even with the windows and doors closed you could clearly hear the music inside. Needless to say, we didn't get to enjoy the balcony or firepit that day and the music continued that loud until 10:00pm. It was dead quiet during the rest of the stay, but this is something that you might want to consider if you are looking for absolute peace and quiet.

This was our second consecutive year staying at the Artist's Cabin Retreat in January. It was even better than the first time around! it snowed the night before our arrival, similar to the previous year which was amazing. So after a great day of skiing (just up the road at Sunday River) or snowmobiling, we looked forward to getting back to the house just to kick back, cook and have a couple of drinks and enjoy the view of the mountain from the Living Room. Everything is very comfortable/cozy about the house. Looking forward to doing it again next year!!

We had a lovely stay. Somehow this cabin is compact and cozy and spacious at the same time. The location was great - Sunday River and all it's venues and attractions were a 10 minute drive. The views were amazing and with big windows facing south, the place was sunny and warm all day. Our visit was in September but this would be especially welcome during a winter visit. Our party had three family groups and there was a private space for everyone. Places to hang- fire pit, balcony/deck, living area and downstairs den- great for a multigenerational group. Lots of wood for a fire. Cool classic "moosey pine" decor. No weird smells. Will we come back? Yup.

7 of us rented the cabin for a wedding in Greenwood that we were attending. Unfortunately, due to Covid only 5 of us made it up to the cabin. We loved having coffee every morning on the Adirondack chairs on the porch with views looking over Sunday River. We really wish we could have had more time there and we will definitely like to come back someday. The owners were great and very responsive to any messages sent. We were able to add a dog to our reservation a few weeks out. They were extremely accommodating. What a beautiful space.

Had so much fun with friends! House was perfect for us. We cooked dinner every night on the grill. So many different water falls and hiking areas within a 15 min drive. Can’t wait to go back.

Our family spent a week exploring the area around Newry and this house was perfect for us. Big enough so we had our own space but small enough so we spent good quality family time together. The whole vibe of the 'cottage' made it easy to relax and it had everything we needed. And the owners were very responsive when we had questions. Would definitely go back again!

Family summer vacation
Cabin and view were absolutely beautiful! Vacationed with my family ages 77 to 18. All had a great time. Sad that vacation is over. We found plenty of things to do as long as you are willing to drive to neighboring towns. Only things I wish cabin had was a tv on the main floor for my elderly parents who couldn’t do stairs and AC . Mornings were cool but the rest of the day it was hot and fans did didn’t do much. Other then that awesome experience!!!

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin as part of our New England anniversary tour in the summer. The cabin was clean and very very well equipped. Kim was very helpful and always online available. We were probably the first Dutchies (NL) 🇳🇱We absolutely recommend the cabin. Wel’d love to visit it sometimes in the winter.

Great February Vacation
We had a wonderful time at the Artist Cabin! The location was so convenient - with kids in ski school the morning is always a rush and it was so nice to only be 5 minutes to the mountain. We had non-skiers with us as well and they enjoyed a cozy place to relax during the day. We enjoyed watching the groomers roam the trails at night and drinking our coffee with the beautiful Mountain View. Kim & Tom truly have thought of everything and give such great instructions when checking in. Our time flew by and everyone was sad to leave. Thank you for sharing your home with us we hope to come back!
