Situated in Volcano, this lovely house for $179 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Volcano Hale Mauka welcomes you to a lovely private cottage nestled in the middle of the rainforest! Our house is very clean and well appointed. Hale Mauka offers you a place to come home and relax after a long day out exploring and playing. Rates are for up to 4 guests. Do not exceed occupancy of 4. SOAK in our 110 gallon tub for TWO with private rain forest views! Our tub is so insulated that it stays warm for hours! Who needs Jacuzzi or Spa? .. Our two bedrooms are each appointed with comfortable beds. A California King Tempur-Pedic mattress in one bedroom and a queen size pillow top mattress in the other. Enjoy that morning Kona coffee or glass of wine in the evening on the Lanai outside while enjoying the sounds and magic of the rainforest.. You won't see anything but huge fern trees and many birds and our local Kalij Pheasants when you sit on our Lanai! We have an amazing fireplace to take the chill from the house on those chilly rainforest evenings, and we supply a starter amount of firewood. Enjoy the Smart TV that you can watch your favorite Netflix, Prime etc. movies. We also have a few DVD movies to choose from if you just want to just chill at home. Three sky tubes in our ceiling offer moonlight or sunlight into the kitchen and living room for ambient lighting. Volcano Hale Mauka offers you 2 Kayaks with instructions for transport. The Village and National Park are less than 3 miles away. You can also explore our artist community and dine at some ono (tasty) restaurants here in Volcano. Our kitchen here at Hale Mauka is perfectly set up with everything you will need to make that meal at home or use the outdoor gas grill. Our dining room that is almost completely glass with views of the beautiful rainforest! It really just doesn't get any better then Volcano Hale Mauka!! Easily the coolest vacation rental we have stayed at. Exceeded our expectations in all aspects. The place was super clean and had a warm feel inside and out. The fireplace is magical and makes the house nice and toasty. We would stay again in a heartbeat! Thank you for making our Volcano stay better than we could have imagined!!

Stayed here 3 times. First time with this manager. We love so much about it! Close to everything, private. ( not too quiet but the manager cannot control that). Great temperature, deep deep tub, huge tv, relaxing sofa, super mattresses. We could go on and on. We love this house!

Such a great house, perfect for visiting Volcanoes National Park, Keaau, Pahoa and Hilo. We were here for 5 nights, which is a good, long time. Very secluded and jungle-y feel, the house was extremely cozy and welcoming after long and full days. But one day my mother in law stayed in while the rest of us went out, and she was extremely happy. Would highly recommend.

This house was EXACTLY what we were looking for and needed. The location was great for our trip to Volcanoes National Park and Mauna Kea. We also took day trips to some other locations. While the house was more of a place to rest and relax and we spent more time away from the house than in it, the house fit our needs perfectly. Peaceful, clean, very comfortable sleeping arrangements, and a great DVD selection!

This place exceeded our expectations in every way! We loved this place! It was even better than the listing. Quiet neighborhood, close to the national park, and short drive to Hilo for supplies. It was tucked away in a beautiful, enchanting cloud forest, surrounded by tree ferns and tropical plants. The home was spotless, comfortable, and well stocked. We loved the decor- felt like home, with personalized touches and mementos. Spacious, but still cozy. We loved all the different lanais. The beds were great. My husband has a bad back and he liked the mattress better than ours at home (what kind is it?)! I hope we can return some day!!

My wife, 10 year old daughter, and I stayed at the Hale Mauka for two nights and we loved it! The property is very clean, and the amenities like dishwasher and washer/dryer are incredibly clutch. We used this property as a jumping off point to explore Kilauea and you couldn’t get any closer with these amenities than this. Also, with a full kitchen and screened in porch dining room, we ate dinner in what felt like the middle of the jungle for two nights. Very cool! Pros: location, cleanliness, big soft beds, amenities Cons: none!

The property was as described with comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable living area and nice outdoor furniture to enjoy the sounds of the rainforest. The property was very convenient to Volcano National Park and Volcano village restaurants and also an easy day trip to see sights around Hilo. Our two favorite activities in the area were the Kilauea Iki hike in Volcano National Park and Hawaii Tropical Bioreserve near Hilo. We also enjoyed several meals at nearby Ohelo Cafe. It was a nice touch to have the manager check in on day of arrival to make sure we had arrived safely. If you're arriving after dark, there are no lights in the area, highly recommend you take the management company up on leaving some lights on! I would not hesitate to recommend or stay at this property if we're in the area again.

Great location for visiting Volcano National Park. I’m very glad we stayed for 3 night so that we could explore the area and do some hiking. This is maybe our favorite vacation rental ever. Close to the park but felt very secluded. House had everything you could need and more.

This cabin feels roomy for a small family, and has character and style. The decor is cool and tasteful, the spaces made me wish we had a longer stay. There was enough room for us to each have some restful time to ourselves, but a lot of little spots to spend time together, too. We were hiking around Volcano NP almost the whole time we were here, but it was really great to come back to the house at the end of a long day. My daughter loved exploring around the house, and had a lot of cool things to show me outside. There was a real sense of privacy while also feeling open to the woods. This place is great, and we hope we’ll be able to return someday!

Great location for more time spent near Volcano & Village. All 4 guests were more than pleased with the property. Property managers went beyond the call of duty with a special request to make the stay special and memorable. Only recommendation is that "half bath" description is a stretch. Toilet shared mud room and was open (louvered pocket door and opening at ceiling above door) to the kitchen. Suggest adding a vent fan to exterior and closing opening at ceiling with glass or glass block. "Super" full bath (including separate shower & soaking tub plus high-end toilet) made up for it.

I received a text from Sabrina on the morning of my arrival, introducing herself and instructing me to get in touch should anything come up. The house was clean, well appointed, and well explained. The house book was very thorough, so read it well. I spent most of my time at the volcano, which was a five minute drive up the highway, and it was super nice to come in after a chilly sunrise hike, start a fire in the fireplace, and make a hot cup of tea in the giant mugs they provide. I’ll also add that a lot of properties in volcano have cleared a lot of the close forest away from their houses. This house is practically hugged by giant tree ferns and ohia trees. It makes it feel like a hidden rainforest cabin. The weather was clear the entire time I was there - a rarity - but I could easily imagine loving that cup of tea in the huge porch while the rain came down on the ferns. I was lucky to find availability here for the exact days I needed — it was entirely booked up otherwise — so if it’s available for your visit, take it.

Very well appointed, clean, spacious, great enclosed lanai dining with adjoining gas grill which we enjoyed. Beautiful lush ohia and hapu forest surrounding the home and well kept. Not too many Coquis! LOL. Only thing is the driveway entrance is quite narrow and could use a little more wiggle room to turn your car around out front. Overall, we totally enjoyed the quiet life.

Communicating with both Shawna and Sabrina were very responsive and pleasant. I arrived in the evening so it was nice to see that the lanai lights and house lights were left on especially while walking up the short flight of stairs with my luggage. I liked that there was a bottle of hand sanitizer on a table outside the front door. The home was spotless and beautifully decorated. I loved the bathroom with deep bathtub and bidet. The beds were clean and comfy. The dining table on the enclosed patio area was lovely. I loved sitting on the front lanai listening to the birds in the morning and not having to deal with mosquitoes. I would most definitely return! Mahalo!

The house was everything we wanted and more. 5 Minutes from volcanoes National park. Everything was modern and clean and everyone had more than enough room. We actually had my infant son on the trip and we didn’t really have to baby proof anything, just moved a couple things into a room with a door. It was the perfect stay. There were flashlights and binoculars available, board games, a wide variety of movies, And our property manager Shawna was always available for communication. The welcome book was also very informative. I highly highly recommend this place. 10/10.
