Great Beach Front Retreat!
Wonderful beach-front home with water access on both sides. Very private, awesome owners - super great to work with. Owners are a simple phone call away, know the islands and the property better than any other. They gave us great advice for meals, entertainment, boating, wildlife, fishing. You will not be disappointed to stay here. we are definitely going back! Paul G Read more

North Captiva Secret
When I asked my wife how to review our stay, she said “It was awesome! The beach and views are spectacular, place was perfect and clean, and the owners were very helpful and accessible!” She then followed up with, “Wait, don’t make it sound that good, I want it to be our little secret and available next time we want to go.😊” Seriously though, we thoroughly enjoyed our short (5 days) but necessary respite from Covid quarantining. Our party consisted of 3 couples, and the house provided more than enough room for us to hang out comfortably inside, on the wraparound deck or the sprawling beach. We rented a pontoon which was necessary to get around to other islands, used the provided kayaks and fishing gear, and had great luck collecting numerous seashells while walking on the unpopulated beach. Lionel, Suzanne, Tanner and Tyler were exceptional to deal with when we needed information on places to go and what to do during our stay. They even offered to grab us a couple extra groceries that we forgot. Maybe not standard procedure? But very helpful and appreciated. We have never had a better experience than on this vacation with a rental property. I’ll admit that North Captiva may not be for everyone, if you are used to a “resort” style vacation. But if your looking for a beautiful, very casual, relaxing escape, this is a place worth considering. Just don’t book it when we want to. Read more

So Easy to work with.
We unfortunately had to move our dates once and then postpone until later date due to Covid. Lionel was soooo easy to work with and accommodate my family to make the adjustments easy on our end. Read more

Beautiful unique property
We stayed for three days with our four small children at this amazing beach house. The owner is extremely responsive and helpful. The location is breathtaking and we did not go a day without seeing dolphins and manatees. Renting the boat daily helped us grab a pizza or ice cream with the kiddos and explore the area. Fishing off the dock was a morning activity. We hope to visit it again! Read more

We have rented beach houses for many years and this property surpassed them all! We traveled the last week of January for a winter get away. Although the water was a little cool there was more than enough to do. Fishing (more catching than fishing) Redfish pass or off the dock was plentiful and easy even for Jayne and my 8 year old:) Shelling was awesome on our morning walks we always planed to walk to the other end if the island but 1/2 way there we had all the shells we could carry. We seen dolphins playing daily along with moonsets and the sun splashing into the Ocean directly in front of the house. Our 8yo was in front of the house all day every day and we knew he was safe because we were nearly all alone. The boat was easy to navigate with the GPS system. We felt like we had the beach entirely to ourselves. If your like us and don't like crowed, loud beaches (Myrtle comes to mind) then this is a destination you must see. 4 Kayaks, badminton, fishing poles, board games all were used but sitting on the decks was my favorite thing to do. Thank you Lionel for sharing your beautiful home with us. Jayne is already looking dates to return. Read more

A very, very special place
We have had the good fortune to have had holidays in many places on most continents, and have found this to be an exceptional spot. For a week in February there were 7 of us,- 2 grandparents, 2 parents and 3 teenagers. The following week, just us 2 grandparents. As a full family there was endless activity, with fishing off the dock (and cooking the Sheepshead fish for a superb breakfast), sailing the Hobie cat, skim-boarding, kayaking, swimming and beach games. After the children left, we had the joy of quiet walks along shell-strewn beaches, and endless fascination with the wildlife ( Ospreys, Sanderlings, Dolphins, Manatees, Egrets, Herons, pelicans etc...). The house sits 40 yards in from the Mangroves of the dock, and 80 yards from the Gulf waters. There is nothing else to spoil the view. In the morning the sunrise comes in from the Intercoastal Bay to the top bedroom, and the sun sets directly over the beach. There is no interruption of other buildings or people. Being there 15 days, we needed to provision regularly and found it best to take Lionel's boat to Jensen's Marina on Captiva ( 15 minutes). A $20 fee will secure a mooring for many hours, though you need to leave by around 1530 hours. This can be reserved in advance. The Island Grocery store is superb. Key Lime Bistro for lunch is excellent. The Green Flash restaurant is even better, with the advantage of a free dock. Both places are much better value, and better food than the rather over-hyped Barnacle Phil's on North Captiva. We did not need AC, though if necessary, Lionel can operate this remotely. The through breeze was superb, even though the weather was hot. We rented Lionel's boat, which was absolutely necessary to get to restaurants and stores, and it worked well. The house is very comfortable, with an immediate charm and sense of relaxation. Perhaps the pervasive memory will be of the early sunrises, and the long sunsets, when there is nothing to disturb the view and the sense of peace, except for the cawing of the ospreys and the low rhythmic pounding of the waves. Definitely a place to return to. On top of the beauty of the House, Lionel was always at the end of a phone to provide advice and practical help, such as arranging night time boat transfers, topping up the BBQ gas etc. A great host.  Read more

Best vacation ever
Unique and amazing place. Located on southern end of North Captiva (short walk to Red Fish Pass) where there are only a dozen or so houses. No roads or golf carts on this portion of island. Boat dock out the back with some of the best fishing around right off the dock and Gulf of Mexico out the front door with amazing views and private sand beach which is great for swimming with a sand bar close to shore. We saw manatee and dolphin on sound and gulf side daily. Our crew consisted of my wife and I, our 9 and 11 year old daughters and my 77yo mother in law. We all had a memorable time. Lionel the owner is a great guy and readily available if needed. House is well equiped with gas grill, kayaks, Hobie cat, fishing poles, corn hole, boogie boards and any number of beach toys. The views are breath taking everywhere with sunrise out the back and sunset in front. We opted to rent Lionel's boat as well and it is in fine working order with GPS to help with navigation. We found having a boat at our disposal enhanced our fun. We fished off the boat often, with live bait available at South Seas, a 5 minute boat ride away. We also took boat rides to eat at Cabbage Key, Barnacle Phil's and Captiva (Jenson's Marine a good place to park with easy walk to multiple restaurants). We checked out northcaptiva.com before our arrival which has some great tips for provisions. You can fax a grocery order to Coral Shores Publix ahead of time and they will have it all packed up and boat ready. This place really is magical. We are already planning to go back next year! Read more
