The best possible welcome to South Africa! Amazing hospitality.

I only had one night in Johannesburg, my first ever in South Africa. I’m so incredibly happy I stayed at Lucky Bean. I have traveled quite a bit in my life, all over the world, but never experienced such hospitality before. Before, during and after my stay at Lucky bean guest house Conway and Natasha were making sure I was looked after, safe and happy. They arranged airport pickup (Derick the driver was great!) as well as restaurant reservation (I arrived late after canceled flights etc) as well as an Uber getting back to the guest house. I felt completely spoilt. The staff at Licky bean were lovely as well and I could tell they really enjoy their workplace. Great vibes and generous breakfast. I couldn’t recommend a place more. Next time I’m back in Jburg there’s no chance I would stay anywhere else.

An oasis of calm in the chaos of Johnnesberg

Natasha and Conway were great hosts who went out of there way to make us welcome. We arrived in Johannesburg with no plan but Natasha helped us with restaurants and advised us on a sight seeing plan for the day. Extremely helpful

Amazing guesthouse, I highly recommend

The location is great, the guesthouse is lovely with lots of green and a swimming pool. Delicious breakfast. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

Excellent choice for a place to stay

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and made to order. The grounds were lovely. Great hot water. Nicely appointed room with all the comforts you would need. Safe in the room was a nice bonus. Strong wi-fi.

There was only one small issue. The portable heaters in the room kept breaking down. I think one of the electrical sockets was bad and kept burning them out. I went through 2 during my 3 night stay. That was the only issue I had. I really enjoyed my stay there.

Excellent host.

I had a lot of contact with Conway before our visit and he was most helpful helping us to decide what to do in Johannesburg and where to eat in the evenings. He also arranged for Cecelia to take us on a tour of Soweto - an excellent day! The room was spacious and breakfast very good

A beautiful calm haven in a great location.

Spacious, airy rooms with a huge bed and a great view out into the lush garden. yummy breakfast and very welcoming owners and staff who went out of their way to advise us on what to do - thank you for a brilliant first few nights in South Africa.

The staff member that welcomed us was amazing The owner also was there during breakfast It is a beautiful place They let us checkout at 12 because we were attending a church service at 1 oclock.

The room needs some airfreshners because it is a carpeton the floor The fridge makes noise at night,otherwise everything is upto standard

Beautiful Guesthouse!

The property was beautiful. The rooms were comfortable and big and tastefully decorated. We also loved the sitting area outside our room where we could sit peacefully, look at the garden and drink tea/coffee. The breakfast was great. Natasha and Conway were great hosts. The staff were nice and friendly.

The best kept secret in Johannesburg!!!

Property is beautifully kept, spotlessly clean, spacious, safe. And conveniently close to Milpark hospital where I have a family member in critical care. Going there after a long day spent at the hospital was… allowed me to destress in a warm, comfortable and welcoming setting. I’ve done the rounds of hotels up to the highest end, and I’ll go back to Lucky Bean Guesthouse any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

A wonderful oasis in central JHB

A gorgeous place in a tranquil green setting in Melville, a quiet residential area with funky little cafes and shops. Comway and Natasha were wonderful , welcoming hosts and went above and beyond to help. The room was stunning and had a sofa area with TV and a lovely bathroom with oth walk in shower. The decor was beautiful- tasteful and funky. The setting in lush green gardens with use of a small. Pool is a super relaxing plave to be. Also had a great selection for breakfast and solar power for those of you worried about thr load shedding. I forgot to mention... The beds!! Oh my!! So comfy, as were the range of pillows. The best 2 njghts sleep in ages. I would kd definitely recommend a stay here and it will be my go-to place if i stay in Joburg in the future. Thanks for an amazing time, Conway and Natasha!

Great value, comfortable bed, and lush gardens.

We only stayed one night at Lucky Bean Guesthouse but it was the perfect landing pad after a long journey. The bed was super comfortable and allowed us to beat our jetlag with a good night's sleep. Murphy was very helpful with check-in and gave great recommendations for nearby restaurants. The grounds are beautiful and lush and we loved the art on the walls.

A truly comfortable space made by the people and the location.

Conway, Natasha and Murphy were very accomodating and went above and beyond to assist us where possible. The guesthouse was clean, included delicious breakfast and despite the weather, the pool was nice. Melville is a nice location with plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes to visit. The recommendations by the hosts are top notch. They have a great understanding of what to do in Jo’burg, no matter what kind of trip you are after.

A minor thing, while the room was comfortable, the toilet is right next to the bed with little to seperate the two.

A wonderful quiet place to stay with helpful owners and great staff. Highly recommended.

The hosts, Conway and Natasha were there everyday, answered all our questions, and made us feel at home. Quiet garden setting was perfect for relaxing when not out seeing Joburg. The breakfasts that Muphy made each day were outstanding.

The load shedding was a bit of a problem but that wasn't the owner's fault. The owners took steps to minimize the impact of the of the load shedding on their guests. The extensive load shedding in the country has been much worse this year than in all previous years.

Simply Awesome!

The property is beautiful, Conway and his staff are amazing. The room was spacious and clean and we enjoyed hanging out with the other guests in the shared kitchen. The honor bar was a godsend! Highly recommended guest house!

Beautiful and welcoming place to stay in Melville

Beautiful guesthouse, big rooms, lovely pool area, great location in Melville. Conway and Sifiso were very welcoming, friendly and attentive to every need. Great breakfast and useful honesty bar, including selection of SA wines.

There's nothing not to like about this guesthouse.

A nice place with a wonderful host

The best part of Lucky Bean Guest house was the host, Conway. He was not only very helpful in having us plan our stay in JoBurg, but also quite accommodating to our needs.

Although there are restaurants and shops within walking distance, many were closed due to Covid. However, it is easy to use Uber and go to more distant places.

Our experience at the guest house was one of the best times we've had as a family...we needed some peace and quiet plus the hole garden looked beautiful and fresh the pool was a bonus.
