Perfect hostel to meet other travellers

Staff is amazing, creates good mood and makes sure people meet each other and chat in the bar area. Perfect for solo travel! The bar is great to discover local products. Restaurant recommendations were amazing!

Feels like staying at friends

Roku hostel is an exceptionally friendly place to be, as many others already said: Mako being a great host and her adorable daughter being a little ball of sunshine. The facilities were simple, but absolutely sufficient for us - just what you find in many Japanese houses. We stayed in a private room for 2, that was small enough to only be equipped by 2 futons, but we did not need anything more. There is not a lot of sound isolation, but everything was really quiet during the night. Mako also has a little cafeteria with delicious drinks and great breakfast.

Un très agréable séjour à Hiroshima dans un hôtel sympa et confortable.

L'accueil était très agréable. L'hôtel propre avec une décoration très sympa. Ambiance cool. J'y ai passé 4 nuits. J'ai pu laver mon linge : c'est un plus ! Pour moi, la couette était trop chaude, mais c'est un détail. Le train est à deux pas.

Short and Sweet

It was a cool hostel. Just needed something close to Hiroshima station and it was perfect. Mako was a great host and offered to help me with my Japanese. Although I wish I could’ve stayed up a little longer to talk with her. I had to get up super early.

Perfect Social Hostel Experience

Great hostel! Such a comfortable vibe, the only place I stayed in Japan that truely felt like a hostel. The welcome drink each night was very inviting and created space to meet all the hostel guests and have a fun night! Both nights I stayed, we all arrived as solo travellers but went out to dinners/drinks together! The host and her daughter are a delight and it feels like your a guest at their home. A highlight for my trip in Japan for sure.

Gran experiencia!

Una de las mejores experiencias en Japón, Mako es muy atenta, súper simpática, siempre se está riendo, se nota que tiene experiencia con la gente extranjera, se parecía mucho en su comportamiento a nosotros. El alojamiento es muy agradable, de estilo japonés y a la vez un albergue europeo. Te regalan una bebida de bienvenida y de esta manera te animas a estar en la recepción/bar con todos los huéspedes, todo muy amigable, acogedor y muy barato. Me encantaría volver!!!

Super nette Gastgeber und super heimelig!

Wir haben auf Futonbetten geschlafen und die waren wirklich super weich und bequem! Selbst mein Freund, der eigentlich dicke, sehr weiche Matratzen bevorzugt, hat hier sehr gut geschlafen.

Da die Zimmer jeweils nur mit traditionellen Papier-Schiebetüren voneinander getrennt sind, hört man Geräusche der anderen Gäste. Auch die Treppe in den zweiten Stock ist sehr schmal und steil, sodass man beim Hochtragen der Koffer aufpassen muss.

You get a free drink in their own bar every evening which is the best part about this hostel as it makes it really easy to talk to other people. Also the staff is really nice and helpful.

Such a nice hostel with a really good vibe to it. It’s family run and you feel apart of it which is always really nice when travelling. The area downstairs makes it easier to meet others. All amenities very clean and the staff were great. Such a nice spot. I travelled solo.

It’s a little bit further out the centre but it’s still well-connected by bus and train or you can walk.

Homely Haven

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming hostel, located just a 5-minute walk away from both Shin-Hakushima and Hakushima stations. The convenient location made exploring the city a breeze, allowing us to easily hop onto public transportation to reach various destinations. One of the standout features of this hostel is the owner’s excellent command of English, which instantly made me feel welcome and ensured smooth communication throughout our stay. The warm and inviting atmosphere of the hostel truly made it feel like a home away from home. We were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness and comfort of the room we stayed in. It provided a much-needed respite after a day of exploring the city. The room’s layout and amenities were well thought out, creating a cozy ambiance that contributed to a relaxing stay. The massage chair at our room was a fanstastic bonus that added to the overall comfort and relaxation of the hostel. Our experience at this hostel was undeniably positive. From its strategic location to the hospitable owner, comfortable rooms, and inviting atmosphere, it ticked all the right boxes for a memorable stay. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or new to the hostel experience, I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Excellent stay with very friendly hosts !!

Mako was an incredibly friendly and kind host ! The beds were comfortable and the temperature at night perfect. Also, the bathroom and toilets were very clean

Having a small suitcase is quite necessary, since there isn't a lot of space to store the luggage above the beds

A really nice hostel in a good location in Hiroshima

Had a really nice private room. Good shared bathroom facilities. An excellent location, just 1 stop on the train from Hiroshima station, and a 30 minute or so walk into town.

It was a homey place and truly one of a kind.

I loved the sense of home and community it gave. Mako was so friendly and helpful, and her daughter was so fun and cute to be around. It reminded me of summer camp. There were also many amenities included. I liked that we could buy 1-day bike passes there as well.

The restrooms and rooms at times had an unpleasant smell and could be cleaner. I had gotten a few bug bites in my bunk. The main bar area was sometimes disorganized due to toys and other things.
