Amazing relaxing experience, treated so well during our stay there. We had the kaiseki multicourse dinner which was delicious and tons of food. Booked the private onsen and a massage in our rooms. Comfortable sleep on the traditional futon beds, what an experience overall. The breakfast was no worse than the dinner!
Nothing, all was great!

Like the staff services and onsen provided. Additionally, food is served in the tatami room for 6 of us.
Room a bit small for 6 of us.

We came via the Rokko-Arima Ropeway and Cablecar direction. It took us another 1km walk to the location. We were rewarded with breathtaking scenery throughout the rides and walk.
Upon checking in, we were fortunate enough to be upgraded to their largest suite with in-room onsen that operates 24hr at a reasonable rate. Another reason for the upgrade is that the private bath was fully occupied.
The upgraded room was located at level 6, which is a level below the public and private bath floor. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and zen! Room was equipped with full facilities and massage chair!
We were served with Kaiseki dinner in our room on the tatami floor just like how locals have their exquisite meal. It was terrific, really a worthy once in a lifetime experience. Next morning, Japanese style breakfast was also served in our room. Really love the experience! Follow us on insta @lionelziqian to have a full view of the room and experience. :)
Nothing.

Very comfortable. Like most Ryokan with all the necessities.
Less secluded and less of an open air outside Onsen where you have a view. No view even though in the 7th floor.

The staff are so courteous and kind. They are very professional and accommodating. I had a private outdoor bath (with the golden water) which was the best part of my stay. I am too shy to do the public Onsen (where everyone is nude) but I love spas and wanted to relax while doing business in nearby Kobe (Arima Onsen to Kobe: 30 min taxi = $80, or train for 1 hour for about $10). The spring water is warm and salty. Nice bathroom products too.
It is very overpriced. I have never paid so much for a hotel (even Iceland’s Blue Lagoon was cheaper when I went), so I was surprised at the lack of attention to the design. For the cost, this should be a very nicely appointed hotel (I stayed at a much nicer place in Kyoto that cost half as much and the experience was so much better). Although the traditional furnishings are nice, the room decor is mostly outdated — so 80s, so much overhead light. The place could use a design refresh and they could maybe include some bottled water or something in the fridge. It’s advertised as only a 10 minute walk from the bus station, but that walk is pretty much vertical—I walked up a mountain in 95-degree heat with a 20-lb backpack on. When I got there, I learned there was a free shuttle, if you call. I wish someone from the hotel would have told me this before I arrived, as I have breathing issues and thought I was going to pass out. The dinners and breakfasts were delicious and the servers so so great, but the portions are gargantuan. I could eat less than half of what was served and I felt bad for wasting. They could reduce portion sizes as it feels wrong to waste so much. Also, their website says it’s Kobe beef. It isn’t. I wouldn’t stay here again.
