Poorly managed, good potential
The location, it holds a lot of potential if correctly managed. The staff were very friendly.
It seems to have had a great past, but it’s now poorly managed and has been left abandoned and with minimal investment.

Good
The resort is quiet and beautiful. They have a wonderful coastline. The staff is nice and helpful, partly seems to be new in the business. You can book the tours directly at the resort for better prices than at other websites. The volcano tour is amazing, but the travelling is very advantures.
You are not able to close windows in the bungalows, therefore in this season for us at least was cold. We needed extra blanket and we got it;) There are a lot of mosquitos, useful to have spray against.

Very good
The staff was exceptionally nice! Ni-Vanuatu are the nicest people i have ever met. They always asked me if i need something and were always there for the people. Airport is very close (2 min by car). Bed is super comfortable!
The resort is too expensive for what it has. Seems like it was a really good resort but the cyclone damaged a lot of part and it still need time to recover. However, when i was there, there were some construction going on which is a positive sign.

DON'T BOTHER, you're just the Manager's ATM!
Comfortable bed, hot shower, cupboard space...and the staff were nice. Resort itself was nice but no-one around to man the facilities, so what's the point. Tours were good but were well overpriced from the Resort and there was lack of communication between the two. Best to go through Vanuatu Tourism Office or the tours Facebook pages.
So much to mention! Constructive criticism to Mike who runs this resort...make sure your bar, restaurant and facilities are fully stocked and if you can't provide it...take the signs down or provide more staff to run it properly. The staff are lovely but don't know enough about their jobs...pay a professional to train them on all aspects of the hospitality service. On arrival were told we just missed the introduction, but still not given an introduction. Asked how to get to the beach and told there was no beach, just rocks! Went to the bar for a glass of wine, told 'sorry we don't have any, but we'll have some tomorrow' Tomorrow never came! We had to walk to the resort up the road to buy wine every day. Tea cup/saucer in our room but no tea, coffee, sugar, milk or kettle, so had to ask for them. Powerpoint was loose, kettle cord taped with electrical tape, didn't switch off and the cord and handle were hot, and it leaked. Ordered fish & chips for dinner and then told 'sorry we don't have any fish' but another group who arrived 20min after us, ordered fish without a problem. Resorts usually supply a buffet breakfast, this place didn't, but instead you got a cooked breakfast. Wasn't the best so asked for toast the next day, it took 1/2 hr and we were the only one's there. Next night, still no fish so we ordered lobster w creamy coconut sauce...sounded nice...no sauce and was overcooked and rubbery...inedible! We did 2 tours through this resort, the first was the Ultimate Volcano Safari Experience which had a lot of things on our bucket list. Told we could change it, as we were the only one's doing this tour, so asked if we could go to Yakel Village instead of the cannibal village. Ended up at the cannibal village and didn't go to Hot 'springs, which was also part of this tour. Incl. lunch & told BBQ fish dinner...what we got...lobster!

Pleasant
The hotel is on the West side of the island, really close to the airport and they include transfers, which are on time. The staff is nice, but they don't always clearly communicate things. They can organise different tours around the island, which are really good, but they don't always explain what is happening when there are changes and which things are flexible. For instance, we ended up doing the cultural combo and the volcano in the same day, but no one explained this was an option and it didn't look like one from their excursion list.
The hotel is very expensive for what it is. There has been some obvious effort to build a nice resort in the past, but it is not being well maintained. The food at their restaurant is overpriced and some options aren't great. I got food poisoning the first night we had dinner there. Water bottles are charged at 400 Vatu when there is a little shop around the corner selling them at 210. The room has mosquito nets, but there are many holes in them and therefore we found bugs in the room every day. The shower doesn't have warm water. It is either cold or boiling hot. We had our tour cancelled on our first day due to the weather and it took several hours and us standing in front of reception for a while for them to communicate it as they just kept telling us to wait for the guide to come, even though it was obvious the delay was too long. On our second day, we were told to wait until the guide arrived and when we went to reception again we were told the guide had been there for a while, but no one had told us. There is nothing to do at the resort. The swimming pool is not in a usable state and the sea didn't seem safe to snorkel.

Passable
Location is very good (close to Airport), staff are very friendly and helpful. Prices for day tours are reasonable.
We booked Garden view bungalow for 2 nights. First room has a defected light so the staff helped us to change to another one. 2 or 3 finger long cockroaches to welcoming you into the room is not too bad actually, it is a remote island, what else are you expecting? But some small (maybe) animals chewing and crawling on the roof during the night is a bit too much. You will have a feeling that if they continue trying, eventually they will make it into your room through the single layer cardboard roof. What made us a bit unhappier is, when checked out, the bill showed different price from the menu on blackboard in the restaurant, and for the beer, they never showed a beverage menu to us (understandable concerning we might be the only guest in the entire resort during that night so they are very relaxed), but charged differently from what the waitress told us. Anyway we are here for the volcano adventure, not for an indulgent holiday, so if you are same like us, please adjust your expectations accordingly.

Not well maintained and managed resort - disappointing at best and definitely overpriced
it’s close to the airport and the resort offers a variety of tours
The hotel was a bit of a joke. We booked for 3 nights but because of a cancelled flight only arrived in the morning of the second day. The receptionist told us we can’t go into our room (which we already paid for!) because another guest is sleeping in there that was to leave on the cancelled flight- although there were plenty of empty rooms she could’ve given us we had to wait till we could actually get into our room. The hotel amenities have seen their best days: pool was unusable as it wasn’t cleaned and maintained, there are no chairs or lounge chairs to comfortably sit down and relax/read a book, and our stay ended with no running water on our last day (ie we were not able to shower or use the sink or get tee or coffee). The food in the restaurant is overpriced; it was okay in taste (although a few of the items kind of tasted the same). The menu is about 30-40 items long but only 5 items were available throughout our stay. The breakfast included coffee/tee, fruits and a plate of bread/eggs/beans/pancakes. On our first day, all of those were available. On our second day they ran out of fruits, on our third day they ran out of fruits, pancakes and coffee. They ran out of coffee in the afternoon the day before (we tried to get afternoon coffees), so there even was a chance for the staff to buy more coffee for next day’s breakfast but somehow it didn’t occur to them. It shows their little foresight and short term thinking about guest experience.
