Very laid back and lots to do

We had a leak inside the room. And I was surprised how early the bar closed:(

Loved that we were near the water. The pool was great with it always having cool temperature and we were very surprised that the kayaks and bikes rentals were included in the stay at captain pops.

The location

The room had a door to the room next door. Not only could we hear their every conversation but even their snoring at night!!!

we liked that it was im the middle of everything. we went to the gift shop. we also sat outside for a while.

we made reservations about 9 months prior. we got close to Captain Pip's a day early so I called and they got us in a day early. The room was very nice and we sat out in the evening . The second day we had to move. My fiance is disabled. We had asked for a room overlooking the water. Instead we got a room watching construction workers on the road. No deck or anything. The stairs were very difficult to walk up which was very disappointing. There was no table and chairs to sit at so we didn't hang around much. When we did leave there was no parking stop for us when we came back. we went to the office and was told to use the big parking lot up front. We couldn"t do that. to walk from there, then to go up the big flight of stairs. The only sink we had was in the bathroom so it was even difficult making coffee. we talked to a couple people there that made reservations after us and they got beautiful rooms. I don't understand why that happened. this was our 1st vacation in years and I was very disappointed. we really studied all of the places to stay before we decided on Captain Pip"s. It sounded wonderful. All we wanted to do was get out of there. It really made our trip disappointing.

Even for an older building it was an excellent location and porky's restaurant was the best beautiful view for on the bay side. They had so much offered for entertainment. It was very good.

Whatever the fragrance was in the room was pretty strong. It didn't stink but it was very perfume for people with allergies. It bothered some but not others but other than that the room was old but very big. Very quiet location.

We liked the Marina and we took a tour out to snorkel.

The AC was loud but we were lucky to be able to turn it off at night and slept with a fan. much quieter. It would be a bit nicer if the seating outside the Stingray room was spruced up, and more inviting.

Lovely homey feel to room.

Had to ask for more towels. Sheets not changed during our stay. Room not cleaned at all.

We stayed in the Tree Top Guest Room and it was very clean. The bathroom had a surprisingly large shower. The bed was a little soft for our liking, but still comfortable. It was nicely equipped with an apt size fridge with freezer, microwave, coffeemaker, and toaster, as well as plates, cups, and utensils for two people. The location was well maintained and had lots of chairs/loungers outside overlooking the marina for enjoying the view. It was a convenient and easy walk to Porky's Bayside Restaurant, with good food and drinks for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

There was a small table in the room, but it had bar stools instead of chairs so it was not usable for sitting to eat or work.

Capt. Pips is a wonderful location on Marathon Key. The facilities are great. There is plenty to do at Capt Pips itself, and it is a very easy 1 hour drive to Key West.

There is poor lighting around the units and some uneven ground. It was difficult to walk around for someone with visual impairment.
