The Soho Grand was just right for us. It is situated close to parking garage and our son's apt.
We liked our room very much; it was not too small and was on a corner with plenty of light and views out onto the surrounding buildings. The bathroom and shower were quite nice and comfortable. Czytaj więcej
I think the hallways and lobby could do with more lighting; they were ridiculously dark! The lighting in our room was very good, although one of the bathroom lights was not working; perhaps it just needs a new bulb (Room 1010).
I think you could provide 2 glasses or cups in the bathroom, not just one big mug. Also, 4 Nespresso capsules instead of 2. Czytaj więcej

When we booked, we picked the larger king room
based on the possibility of being able to have a bath as listed in the amenities section. Turns out there isn’t a bath in any room aside from the suites; I was informed of this in response to my request but it was still disappointing as we paid more for that reason. Perfect getaway!

No one helped me with my bags, there was rarely anyone on the ground floor to even help with the door or guidance of any kind. I was given a glass of Prosecco when I checked in, but when I told the receptionist that I couldn’t carry it with all my bags, she said “you can do it!” Instead of being helpful in any way or calling me a cart or helper. There was no price list with the mini bar. The deal chair was terrible uncomfortable. There was super loud construction work in the building all day on Monday. Called gilligans for room service, they were closed without notice, I only found out because I overheard the security guard telling someone on their way out to pick up my seamless order... which they would not send up to my room... I travel for work very often, and have stayed in many NYC hotels, this one is absolutely not worth the cost in any way. Czytaj więcej

We loved the property in general, but I wasn’t best pleased with the cleaning staff. We were happy to tip those that helped but on one of our last days, the cleaning lady waited outside our room for us to go out for the day and literally said ‘it was a pleasure working for you and I’m here until 3pm so feel free to bring me the tip as I’m not working over the weekend’ WHO SAYS THAT! until that moment we were going to tip but the fact that she made us feel so uncomfortable and waited outside our room just to make that comment put us off completely. She even knocked before that to ask how long we’d be even though we put the ‘do not disturb’ sign in the door as we had lots of shopping out so didn’t want everything moved around. Your staff need to be trained to not expect tips. They don’t work for the people staying at the hotel, they work for the hotel and if someone is happy with the service, they will tip as they please. There was very noisy construction and I wasn’t warned about this before booking, not a peaceful stay to say the least
The mini fridge did not work so all drinks inside if it were warm, when someone came to try and fix it they said ‘that’s just the way it is’ so I was left with a deficient fridge the entire 9 day stay
One of the staff working at the entrance of the hotel had major attitude and was not a pleasant person, you could tell they didn’t want to be there.

How they manage the payment ruined everything even my whole summer vacation!
They hold 2989$ when i came in they told me 2200$ for the accommodations & around 800$ as a guarantee to what will you spend in the hotel.
I woke up tomorrow I see them trying to get another 2898$ from my card. I said maybe a mistake. The next day they tried to take 1000$
i called them to find out they told me you need to pay 200$ every night you are staying!! They even didn’t call me and explain to me this they just go ahead and trying to steal my money without any authorization or my knowledge!!
They tried so many amounts soo many!! Once 3000$ once 1000$ once 400$.
This is causing me a lot of problems and consequences to my other stays in the city. My trip was ruined because them. Worse summer vacation ever. This ended me to cancel the rest of my trip and going back to my country.
Before soho grand hotel I stayed at 1 Brooklyn hotel, equinox hotel, and the Plaza hotel and had no issues with payments!!
However before my stay ended at soho grand I called booking they cancel my stay to move to another hotel. When I got to my home country I saw them release the first 2898$ and they hold 1500$ again and trying to get 1600$ from my other card. They stay should cost 1608$ if you already hold 1500$ why you trying to get another 1600$.
If you are not trying to steal me you guys really have payments issues should solve before you ruin your guest stays!!!!!!
I have the records to all the payments I filed a complaint at the DCWP.

Well there were no door men and basically no one spoke to us majority of our time at the hotel.
We had to find our own way to reception and even then hardly a welcome or any enthusiasm let alone help with our bags - had to take them to our room on our own too.
Hotel was so darn dark I couldn't see a thing.
Room was so darn small and very average to be honest with small window.
I needed to make changes to the reservation and again hardly any communication with front desk - empathy and conversation was seriously lacking I got a better response from an email and via booking.com

Awful service. Had to wait a few times 20-40 min for the bellboy. Entrance was ugly. Hallways were noisy and outdated / worn. Room was tiny, even by New York standards. Could hear everything from adjoining rooms and hallway. Staff was rude to us about finding seating in the lobby / bar. Location is prime. Decoration and finishings in rooms are very nice. As far as I could see, they've renovated the bathrooms as well since the last time I've stayed there before Covid in 2019. Lucky if you have a room with a view. Czytaj więcej

The property is in dire need of an update certain places. I haven’t been to the Soho Grand for 8-10 years or so and parts of the hotel (elevators and room) are in need of some major TLC. The reception and concierge seemed really understaffed. Czytaj więcej

The hotel is great, but when I arrived the day before the staff let me know some work was being done, this is typical in big city hotels so no worries. But at 6am they began picking, drilling, hammering so much that pieces from the ceiling started to fall in my room. I was of course startled out my sleep by this.
