Fantastic hotel on the heart of old Chania and just a minute walk from shops and restaurants. Clean, modern, comfortable. Parking can be a challenge, but that’s to be expected when staying in an old city that wasn’t built for cars.Read more

The room we stayed in was lovely. Very spacious, with lovely veiws from the windows and a little balcony to sit out on.
The bed was incredibly comfortable with lovely linen and extra pillows. Nice towels and we were provided with beach towels which was very helpful.
Tea and coffee making facilities were provided and some plates and cutlery.
Our room had a glass floor at the foot of the bed so that the original monastery staircase was visible. The conversion was very sympathetic. We would have like some more information about the monastery and its history.
With the windows all open at night we were lulled to sleep by the sound of waves in the harbour. There was also some noise from local restaurants, but it didn't keep us awake. The central position was great to explore and we were able to park on the street outside.
We didn't meet Vangelis, but he was available on the phone and called several times us to make sure everything was ok. As we had been to Chania before we did not need lots of guidance.
I would strongly recommend staying at Madonna del Mare.
The house keeping seemed to be cancelled due to Coronovirus, which was a shame because part of the joy of being on holiday is to come back to a clean room every day. The other hotel we stayed at, still had staff cleaning the rooms.
When I phoned to ask if we could have a broom, Vangelis was helpful and sent someone to sweep our room while we were out. They emptied the bin, but did not do any other cleaning, leave fresh towels etc.
We wish some nice plastic tumblers were provided as we were worried about knocking over glasses of water into the stone floors in the night and smashing them.
Wish a dust pan and brush was supplied in case of accidents and to sweep sand out.Read more
