Absolutely no exceptions. "Walk to New Hope!" Situated on one of Bucks County's most fabled properties in the historic hamlet of Phillips' Mill, PA and just 1 mile from downtown New Hope, PA. sits this private Medieval English village. This area has loads of great restaurants, wineries, art galleries, museums, antique stores, live music , theater and cabarets, boat rides, bike trails, old steam engine train rides... (See about our second cottage) Note: Please don't inquire about one night stays.) Relax and enjoy a glass of your favorite wine in the sunken Italian garden: Four large ornate stone pedestals were imported from a palace in Italy by Morgan Colt in the early 1900's and barged up the canal to Colt's residence where they have been standing at each corner of the sunken Italian garden for the last 100 years. If you don't feel like cooking dinner, just walk out your door, down the cast-stone walkway, through the beautiful garden courtyards and through the large Medieval iron gates, where you will come upon The Inn at Phillip's Mill, also built by Morgan Colt and arguably 'the most romantic restaurant in all of Bucks County' (For weekend dining, you must call ahead for reservations. Note: Once you have booked your stay at The Gothic Cottage, we will provide you with an information packet about your stay that will also contain the restaurant's reservation phone number. (Note: Sorry but we ABSOLUTELY can't do one night stays) Secluded yet so close to so much: This is a great location aprox 1 mile north of downtown New Hope, and Lambertville which are famous for their numerous fine art galleries, wineries, great shopping destinations, antique stores, polo, great restaurants, boat rides, walking trails, bike trails, live music and live theater at the famous Bucks County Playhouse... Another high point of staying here is that the village sits on the banks of the beautiful Delaware Canal which gives you instant access to the canal towpath where you can walk, or ride your bikes (1 mile) to historic downtown New Hope, PA, Lambertville or Stockton, NJ. The Gothic Cottage has private off-street parking for you and is available all year round so you can make this your new home away from home. (Note: Sorry but we absolutely can't do one night stays) The Gothic Cottage is perfect for weekend getaways, week long vacations or temporary lodging and can comfortably accommodate two people. Extended stays, include weekly house cleaning services. Unique Benefits of this Cottage: If you don’t feel like cooking dinner, just walk out your door, down the cast-stone walkway, through the beautiful private garden courtyards and Medieval iron gates, where you will come upon The Inn at Phillip’s Mill, also built by Morgan Colt and arguably “the most romantic' restaurant in all of Bucks County. This was my second time visiting and I'm sure I'll be back! I have a dust allergy and Kurt and Eleanor were kind enough to provide an air filter to enhance my comfort. Kurt showed me some awesome family heirlooms and shared the history of the property, which is fascinating. I was able to easily walk on my own down the canal tow path into town, explore, and head back with no trouble. If you want a quiet getaway to yourself, this is it!

I had an absolutely amazing weekend stay. The cottage was so charming and cozy, a perfect place to escape and relax. Eleanor and Kurt were such kind and gracious hosts, I thoroughly enjoyed being shown around the property and learning its history. The cottage is incredible, like stepping back in time, a magical little hidden gem that is perfect for a quiet and peaceful getaway. Quaint and clean, with one of the most comfortable beds ever, conveniently located just minutes from New Hope. Thank you, Eleanor and Kurt, for being so warm, friendly, and welcoming, and for giving me a tour of your home, showing me your amazing family heirlooms and treasures, and sharing your family’s history and the history of the art colony. A truly unique and magical place. I cannot wait for my next getaway visit to your cottage!

Host greeted me with " welcome to Harry Potter". Lots of history in this little escape from every day life.
A bit far too walk to downtown New Hope- almost 2 miles. But close to beautiful walking paths. Very comfortable.

Our stay was a unique experience in a small but cozy cottage with a very interesting history which our hosts Kurt and Eleanor were kind enough to share with us! We had a bit of trouble with the short doorways and the small shower,( my husband is tall), but the bed was comfortable and the kitchen had all the the basics necessities. Close to restaurants, shops and theaters.

My dear friend and I had the most wonderful time in New Hope. This cottage was the perfect place for us to unwind, relax, and find peace of mind. Kurt and Eleanor are lovely and passionate about their property. The property is beautiful and has so much history behind it. Thank you Kurt and Eleanor for welcoming us to your home and making us feel safe and comfortable during our stay!

This location proved to be even more pleasant and inviting than we expected and our expectations were already high. Charming, clean, and exactly what we needed for a few peaceful days to celebrate my wife's 75th birthday. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

The property has beautiful flowers and foliage that gives it a cozy, peaceful and romantic feel. The one bedroom cottage was the perfect size. It was a beautiful old English style cottage and so clean. We would definitely come back again. Oh and the owners were very helpful and friendly.

Eleanor and Kurt were exceptional hosts. They were so warm and friendly, showed us their home and some of their treasured possessions and gave us great insight of the town, its history and wonderful suggestions of things to do while visiting
Our cottage was comfy and cozy and really added to our overall weekend experience enjoying the holiday season in New Hope and Peddlers Village.

Eleanor and Kurt are great hosts. It's a cottage, so it was quaint and comfortable. We also enjoyed the convenience of a kitchen with a stove, keurig coffee maker (pods supplied!), and fridge. A sort ride into town (New Hope) or Lambertville NJ (which has the best ice cream in the world at Oh Wow Cow). As has been highlighted in other reviews, the space is small and older, so if it's luxury and modern conveniences this isn't your place. This is a place for you to experience a piece of history with great hosts and convenient access to New Hope and the D&R Canal!

Eleanor and Kurt were nothing short of amazing! From taking us on a tour of the property and telling us about their family’s history, to even going as far as helping us operate the TV, they were wonderful. The cottage and property were absolutely beautiful and clean!! We felt so welcomed and enjoyed our stay immensely. We can’t wait to return!

This collection of quaint cottages is nestled in well landscaped garden almost midway between New Hope and Stockton. Kurt and Eleanor are welcoming hosts and are ready to share the interesting history of this former (and possibly future) artist's colony.

This property was exactly as advertised. Definitely rustic, most definitely beautiful and very relaxing! If you are leaning toward fancy and modern this may not be your spot, but if you appreciate history and old architecture this is someplace to check out! We were able to get into downtown New Hope easily and access the towpath quickly. Our hosts were very cordial and knowledgeable about the grounds and the area.

This is an opportunity to stay in a very unique little English village. Felt like we were in Europe the hosts are very delightful and friendly. You get a history of the area and a tour of the. Others house which is like a museum. Highlight of that was the upright music box, never have seen anything like it and the sound is beautiful. Our cottage could be called quirky. Low ceiling, little step downs, and lots of interesting art and items to see. But all mod cons you need. Very thoughtful placement of motion activated lights so no one trips on their way to bathroom at night! We were very comfortable there and it’s a very easy drive into new hope. Even had a very friendly next door neighbor. It was just what we needed. Oh and the TV set up is pretty awesome. You can watch anything in any country!

Eleanor and Kurt are wonderful hosts and their knowledge of the history of the property and the surrounding environment is impressive. They made our stay there special and even gave us (and our friends who came by to visit us) a tour of the village sharing all they know about the property, including the furnishings inside the cottages. We will be back for a return stay!

Weekend getaway
If you're looking for a nice quiet spot to relax in, then this might just be it for you. Our cottage was cozy and just what we wanted. Eleanor and Kurt were both charming and informative. After our arrival Kurt gave us a tour and brief history of the cottages.
The cottage we were in was clean, neatly arranged and charming. Do not expect a big place. but while it is small it is also very comfortable.
I would recommend it to anyone looking for a different setting than just a hotel type setting.

If you are looking for upscale, updated, huge spa-like bathrooms...the Gothic Cottage is not for you. If, however, you want an experience like none other...where you feel that you've entered a story book...or an historic English Hamlet...complete with beautiful overgrown gardens perfect for relaxing with wine and cheese...and stone pathways...then come. If you want to take a million photos of the quirkiness of this place...then come. If you want to truly escape from the real world...to relax...or de-stress...then come.
Experience the magic! As an added bonus you are just steps away from the Pennsylvania Canal towpath...where, at the end of a leisurely one mile stroll, you find yourself in the "way too fun" town of New Hope. Artist studios. Restaurants. The bridge to Lambertville. All within walking distance.
This is not a place to "spend a few nights"...this is a place to absolutely enjoy the moments!
