The house and property was even better than advertised and the host family was so easy to work with. The kitchen and living space had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. The view of the Duoro valley was spectacular and the outdoor living spaces perfect to enjoy the view andvrural life. The vineyards, vegetable garden, fruit grove, and hen house were an extra delight. While we didn't use the game rooms and beautiful pool because we were busy exploring the valley, they looked inviting and would be perfect for entertainment and relaxing. We can't offer enough positive comments on our stay at this property. It would be highly recommended for those visiting the Duouro Valley or wanting to stay a short distance outside of Porto.

Stunning position and lovely to sample some of the garden produce and eggs, and the wine of course.
The local railway was useful to visit up and down the Douro Valley as a break from driving along the steep and winding roads.
Our flight to Porto arrived quite late. I would recommend stopping at a supermarket on the way for provisions.

This was a beautiful house with gorgeous views, a refreshing pool (although a little cold at first, but no complaints), access to fresh veggies from the garden and eggs from the chicken coop.
We loved our stay at Guilhermina’s house. We were greeted at the property by her son Pedro, who provided a complete tour of the house and property before Guilhermina joined us. He showed us where everything could be found, how to use the dish washer and washing machine, and where to find fresh vegetables and eggs. They even provided a bottle of their property wine and a local loaf of bread.
We took them up on several of the restaurant and winery recommendations as well. I would definitely stay here again if we ever get a chance to return to the region, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay in the valley.

Spacious property with the most amazing views over the Douro Valley. We enjoyed a relaxing week here after spending a few days in Porto. The villa has everything needed for a self catering holiday including a well kitted out games room & infinity pool.

Can’t say enough about our peaceful experience at this home. It is incredibly well stocked—including wonderful veggies from the organic garden. The views are magnificent. Pool is great. I have never stayed anywhere that I enjoyed as much. Also had a bottle of their homemade wine from the organic vineyard on the property. It was also wonderful.

What a fantastic location and property in the Douro Valley. The views across the river are amazing. This is a fully functioning organic farm. We collected fresh eggs, berries and other fruit, potatoes, onions, etc. The host has done an amazing job remodeling an original rock house with a completely modernized interior. We highly recommend this property.

We loved our stay at this wonderful Quinta and wouldn't hesitate to come bac!. It has the most amazing views... Pictures do not do it justice. We were here in early April and enjoyed the start of spring with lots of beautiful flowers and delicious fresh oranges (and fresh eggs straight from the chicken coop!). The home is spacious and has lot of storage and all kinds of extras. As a family we loved playing pool and having a big telescope to view night sky was a huge hit! The pool was still quite chilly but some of us got in on a beautiful 78f sunny day. We grilled outside on the open fire most nights. It was a great base to explore the Douro Valley along with day trips to Porto and Pinhao. Our hosts Pedro and Guillermo were wonderful to work with and very responsive to any of our questions. I would highly recommend staying here and hope to come back some day!

The highlight of our trip! Even though we were a little early in the season, the coziness of the property, the surrounding area, the amenities, and the views were all top-notch. Such a wonderful place for kids and adults alike. Highly recommend.

My wife and I stayed here with another couple for several days during a trip through Portugal. The view from the property is world class. The house itself is a timeless treat with plenty of things to explore and enjoy. We found ourselves not wanting to leave the property, and we took advantage of the garden and wine produced in the vineyard to make meals at the house instead of going out to eat (there is a nearby grocery store). On top of this, our hosts were friendly and accommodating and made it smooth and easy to stay.

Fantastic property with beautiful view of the river and valley. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend this property. Our host welcomed us with a bottle of wine from their vineyard, oranges from the tree outside the back door and loaf of local bread.

We had a "too brief" stay here with our two adult children and one of their partners. We were blown away by the views as soon as we arrived! They definitely lived up to the pictures on the listing. Guilhermina and Pedro were very quick to respond to any questions and Alexandra did an excellent job introducing us to the property, with Pedro on speakerphone to explain everything in English. We really enjoyed picking and eating fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden and even retrieved a few eggs from the hen house. We would LOVE to return one day for a longer visit!

Fantastisk udsigt !
Dejligt hus i rolige omgivelser. Super dejligt at man kunne bruge alle husets økologiske frugter og grøntsager, dem havde vi virkelig gavn af. Specielt appelsinerne. Huset er godt indrettet, men inventar og havemøbler er dog godt slidt. Køkkenet er vældig godt udstyret. Komfur, ovn og opvaskemaskine samt vaskemaskine er af ældre dato og trænger bestemt til en opgradering. Pool og udeområde er spektakulært. Hvilken udsigt !!!. Vores værter var søde, altid behjælpsomme og til rådighed hvis vi havde spørgsmål. Vi kunne ikke ønske os en bedre vært.
Stedet producerer i øvrigt deres egen vin, og den kan vi virkelig anbefale.

Can’t beat the view!
Second time staying at this property. Owners are very accommodating. Everything we needed was on hand including picking oranges from the tree for fresh squeezed juice every day. Be sure to check out the notebooks for what to do and where to eat!

A Splendid Holiday
I am normally loathe to give superlative evaluations on vacations homes, because there are always issues, big or small, which prevent such assessments. The stay at Sao Tome de Covelas, hosted by Guilhermina Castro, is the exception.
For anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful, relaxing and comfortable holiday at a functioning and fully equipped farm house and farm ensconced in winding hills, with a panorama to take your breath away, this is the place for you. This is a rare case of advertising pictures not being able to reflect the beauty of the place.
We took long walks in the hills, savoured the house wine and enjoyed visits to communities. and cities, nearby and far. The house is equipped with all amenities and supplies - including a greeting basket of fresh vegetables - ensuring that one is immediately comfortable and feels at home.
What to say of the hosts? Guilhermina and her son Pedro were without fail, present, helpful, courteous and gracious, making this one of the best, if not the best, holiday we have ever had.
I write this review with some trepidation, for I fear that the next time we will want to visit the premises will be fully booked. Nevertheless, noblesse oblige, I must assert: this is a marvellous place to stay, in the care of hosts that will do the utmost to make your experience worthwhile.

Amazing and beautiful organic winery with own pool
We really love this amazing and beautiful organic winery with its own pool. We can really recommend the place highly. This is the 2nd time we visit the house. The house has the most beautiful location in the mountains of the Douro region overlooking the river. The beautiful view can be enjoyed from a wonderful terrace where there is sun all day long. The house has several terraces and gardens, all of which are very beautiful. There own Pool garden with sun loungers where the beautiful summer days can enjoy in peace and quiet.
The house is fully equipped with everything you need. This Quinta is a working winery and farm. It is wonderful that they allow you to harvest from their farm. We enjoy lettuce, potatoes, onions, herbs, garlic, cherries, strawberries, blueberries and fresh eggs. They also produce their own vinho verde which tastes great and I recommend buying a few bottles.
There is a supermarket and bakery approx. 10-15 minutes away by car.
The owners are very sweet and helpful.
A good piece of advice - use the GPS coordinates when you need to find the house.
We will definitely be back again.

Excellent house with amazing view
We had a fantastic stay in the house that really offered everything. Most of all we enjoyed the stunning view of the river Douro from the different terraces. We had difficulties finding the house, but the owners were very supportive. It was a pleasure picking up fresh eggs and fruit every morning and vegetables every evening - not to mention the bottles of the white wine of the vine yard. We can warmly recommend this house!
