The home was comfortable and had all items needed for a great stay! Ken and Cyd were absolutely amazing. Even with less than ideal weather they made our vacation relaxing and enjoyable with their wonderful home and hospitality!

Great place to stay while exploring Acadia

Comfortable, clean, and cozy. Cyd and Ken are the BEST people, and their carriage house was perfect for my wife and I. The bed was comfortable (we find this to be a common problem with some rentals), and the space was immaculate. We did a lot of hiking, and coming home to a fire (inside or out) was a great finish to our days. It’s truly nestled in the woods, and you can walk to trails. Very quiet at night…very peaceful. We will stay here again the next time we head north!

My husband and I chose the carriage house due to its proximity to Acadia. We were very pleased with the accommodations and amenities. We also met Cyd, who was so warm and welcoming. Cyd and Ken provided a list of off season restaurants, which was so helpful for the time of year we went. We would definitely stay here again if in the area!

My husband and I visited the area for five days and we could not have asked for a better experience at the cottage. We were able to cook some meals in the well appointed kitchen and relax at night with the gas fireplace. We walked to one of the Acadia trails on our first day and watched the sun rise. We visited many parts of the island and found the location to be very convenient. Our hosts were responsive and answered all of our questions. Highly recommend this gem in the woods!

This is a must see. The property owner was a breath of fresh air to communicate with and hugely helpful in so many ways! If we needed help with nearby attractions or just figuring out the WiFi she was there! The property was perfectly appointed and extremely comfortable. The property bc is located close enough to things to do and places to go get remote enough to have complete peace and quiet. We LOVED our stay! Thank you!

There is nothing to 'not' like about The Carriage House. It is nestled in the woods, a short drive from the road, with easy access. A grocery store is a short drive away, the small town of Sout West Harbor another mile or two further. The living area (upstairs above an empty two car garage), is unbelievably spotless, immaculately cleaned and maintained. Everything you could possibly need is provided, so thoughtfully appointed. A lovely log fire, operated by a thermostat, runs on propane. Originally, I was looking for a log fire. However, this is so much easier and equally as effective, just perfect. Bathroom is shower only which suited my wife and I, and what a good shower it is! And last but not least, the wonderful hosts. They live in a gorgeous house not too far away. You must meet them, two of the loveliest people you could imagine. Thanks to them for making this stay so exceptional. The hiking and driving maps in the house and a great recommendation to an amazing restaurant in Bar Harbor (Havana), were especially appreciated. We will definitely be returning.

Lovely upstairs suite suitable for two people. Management folks were gems: friendly, very attentive, and helpful. Site's location is in a quiet area with walking and easy access to coastal sights.

We had a wonderful time! Cyd and Ken are lovely people and were ready to help with advice or anything that we needed. The Carriage House was perfect for us. It had everything that we needed to cook our own meals. They thought of everything! It was nice to have such a quiet place to retreat to after a day of hiking, biking, and exploring Acadia Park and the various harbors. The trails from the house were an added treat! Definitely hope to return!

We did not cook very much as the nearby restaurants were very convenient and the ‘typical’ Maine lobster pounds so enticing. The kitchen area however, though small, did not lack for anything you might need to prepare your own meals. We went to MDI for the hiking in Acadia and this was a perfect spot to come back to recuperate! Quiet, beautiful flower gardens, comfortable and restful. Oh, and the hosts were just wonderful! Looking forward to a return trip!

The carriage house was perfect for our trip. The hosts are very thorough and easily available without hovering. The house was clean and comfortable and the flowers around the house were just beautiful. The location is great, it’s on the quieter side of the island but less than 2 minutes to groceries, restaurants, gardens, Echo Lake and much more. There is hiking from the house, we didn’t a chance to walk that one but it’s on our list when we return. The house was private and surrounded by lush woods which was perfect. Downtown Bar Harbor was 15 minutes away on a scenic drive. There are also a couple of flower gardens within minutes from the house to enjoy. Don’t miss Ship Harbor and the seawall, they are 5 minutes away and not near as crowded as the park loop road area. Loved the island and the carriage house, definitely recommend.

Cyd and Ken were perfect hosts and provided us with all the resources we could need to plan our Mt. Desert Island adventures. The location was ideal! As a cozy, comfy hideaway with beauty and privacy, the Carriage House offered us the perfect place from which to explore Acadia and surrounding areas. Not only was Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mountain easily accessible, but we went for day trips up to Bangor, over to Deer Isle, and across to Schoodic Point with ease. The cottage was beautiful and immaculate, and the hosts were friendly and available but not hovering, so we felt they offered all the resources we needed from hosts, but also the privacy we craved. The cottage had all the little extras one would hope for. And driving in to their place feels like you're driving into a state park, it's so beautifully situated among the pine tree woods. We highly recommend! Thank you to Cyd and Ken for their graciousness.

I am a Maine regular and have stayed in various locations and VRBO accommodations - this is one of my top 2 picks statewide. If your itinerary calls for a trip to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor or other downeast activities, PICK THIS RENTAL. Ideally situated in the woods, off the main road just far enough that you can hear the wind moving through the trees and set in a small clearing allowing amazing views of the stars on a clear night. (side note: a beautiful doe/deer was on the lawn grazing one morning when I looked out the window) The house is well stocked and appointed with comfortable furniture. My favorite feature was the cozy "wood" stove, which operates on a thermostat, and was glowing softly each morning when I arose to the chilly December sunrise. (*no wood necessary). Cyd and Ken have thoughtfully prepared the house for lazy stay at home days too... a fully stocked kitchen with gas appliances, DirectTV and loads of magazines and puzzles. I saw a small grill in the garage, but I did not use it. You can pack light because there is also a full size WD downstairs. The village of Bar Harbor is 9 miles away. You can literally hike right off the property. There are plenty of antique shops and other conveniences in Ellsworth, which is about 23 minutes drive. Portland International Airport is about 3.5 hours away - Bangor Airport is closer, but I've never flown into it. All in all a fantastic find! I am already looking at reservation dates for 2022.

Fresh flowers, chocolates, sparkling clean everything! No, this is not dream; it is really a place you can escape to, secluded, yet convenient access to nature's wonders. Plush bed, with oversized pillows! Soft luxurious bath towels. Thoroughly outfitted kitchen with new appliances. Fast WiFi and TV that works perfectly! Cuddle up by the fire on the loveseat, couch or wicker chair. Breath a deep sigh because you may just be in heaven.

We really enjoyed staying here on "the quiet side of the island." The space had everything we needed. Unfortunately there was little open in Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor was a zoo. Enjoyed hiking Gorham and Penobscot Mtn and riding ebikes for 43 miles on the Carriage Roads. Would definitely stay again.

I'm not one for review writing, but this place was great. Quiet and peaceful, yet a short drive to a lot of Acadia's hiking trails (and a short walk to a few). Cottage was comfortable and included all amenities as well as a treasure trove of information of local points of interest.

This carriage house was the best deal for us on our trip! Cyd & Ken provided so much info on hikes, resturants and suggestions that we really didn't need to plan ahead! The space is cozy but really only intended for 1 or 2 people, which was totally fine for us. Space was cute and clean and great to chill after a long hike. For first-time vistors to the Bar Harbor/Acadia area, we LOVED our stay here in SouthWest Harbor. Perfect little town, and you can still drive into the busier areas of the island.

We just loved the property and it's location, which was convenient to hiking trails, water and mountain views, and also close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The cottage is fully appointed and very comfortable for a couple with all of the required amenities. We'll definitely be back to this location... thank you Cyd and Ken!
