Our family enjoyed our stay at this cottage, it is very clean, very well equipped with every kitchen essentials you would need! Beds and pillows are comfortable.
They have catered to children with lots of activities to do outside, a fun tree house and toys and activities in the basement.
The spot on the water is stunning, they have a lot of great options to sit and enjoy the scenery. Kids loved the lily pad, water trampoline and sand pit.
This is an excellent spot for a family get away and some R&R!

Even better than expected! We arrived on Friday afternoon and Francine and Rob were there to greet us and help us become familiar with the property. During our three week stay we had family and friends join us. Everyone was comfortable and enjoyed the amenities…kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing etc. We loved gathering at the table on the upstairs deck for our meals and watching the sun set from the screened porch. With so many seating options and fire tables to choose from, every night by the lake was different. It was a wonderful vacation and our hosts were very helpful and responsive. We have great pictures and fantastic memories to help us relive our stay at Birchwood cottage.

Lovely cottage for the family
The cottage was just as described. Very bright, extremely clean and nicely decorated. The owners met us upon arrival and showed us around. They were very nice and seemed genuinely excited to have us at their cottage. The Muskoka room and deck on the boat house are a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy the weather and view of the lake.
The owners have put in a water trampoline, lily pad and launch zone which were a lot of fun for us all. The water was nice and warm.
The neighbours are quite close but were respectful, helpful and pleasant. It seems like a great community of cottagers at this spot.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

Memories
We had an amazing week in Muskoka and thoroughly enjoyed everything the cottage had to offer. Lots of fun activities for all ages . The top of the boathouse and screened in patio are the absolute best!! Thanks Francine and Rob for another great week of memories.

A great little gem in Muskoka. I rented there last year and came back for 2 more weeks this year. I love the dock , the upstairs deck and sitting area, and the indoor screened in top of the boathouse. New umbrellas and bbq’s are a real plus this year. This cottage is truly a gem. It was as advertised: Neat, clean, tidy, everything in working order.
It is a beautiful location on a fabulous lake about 20 mins from Gravenhurst for shopping/dining etc.
The property is lovely both inside and out with comfortable indoor and outdoor lounging areas. The upper indoor/outdoor patio by the boathouse was a special favourite of our family.
It is a great place for a peaceful, relaxing, family getaway.
We would recommend renting a motorized water craft from Muskoka Boat Rentals in Gravenhurst for some added fun and a chance to tour the other spectacular cottages on the lake.
The hosts are lovely and clearly have paid a lot of attention to details at their property.
The only thing that was a bit confusing was the VRBO/Fiddlehead Properties communication e-mails which seemed to come from different people each time, at first leaving us wondering who actually owned and managed the place.
Francine explained this to us and they seem to be working on correcting the automated communications. None of this impacted our stay, however, and it was nice to have Francine there to show us around upon our arrival.
The only other item I would mention (which is not a show stopper) is that the gas fire pits were difficult to get lighted.
We would highly recommend choosing this property as a vacation option for a family of 4-6!

House was very nice, water and location were great. House was clean. With lots of towels and extra essentials. First aid kit needs to be replenished. My son cut his hand really bad needed to use it however the kit lacked essential first aid items. But that's easy to fix. Would also be nice to get better kitchen accessories. (Tongs and spatula were not helpful in at all) . Incredible fishing off the dock we caught some big fish for dinner. (Would have been nice to have a fillet knife). House was humid. Trying to move air around with portable fans. No real cross breeze until very late at night. We had great weather so we got to sit out on the dock all day. Boating was sensational. Water was out of this world. Had great boat trips to town for lunch. All in all cute place. But very warm. Home owners were very responsive. Thank you for a great week!

Amazing Cottage, lovely Stay!
Birchwood Cottage was perfect for us as a family. It has everything you need, whether you want to completely relax and unwind or have an active vacation. We loved morning coffee/yoga on the dock, taking out the kayaks and swimming & boating. The rooftop patio on the boathouse is awesome, the screened porch is also there if it rains. Love the two fire pits!
Inside the cottage has everything you need, bedding was super clean and comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. It was very clean when we arrived and checking in was smooth. Location is excellent, it’s quiet and sheltered but also close to Bala & not far from Gravenhurst. Location on the lake is also sheltered, excellent for swimming and boating. It was helpful for us to be so close to Walker’s Point marina. Owner/property manager also communicated well and promptly all through the booking process. Would love to stay again some time!

Everything you need!!
From the ease of booking to this exceptional cottage property, this was the highlight of my summer!
We were met by the owners and provided a tour and everywhere you looked was a stunning view to the lake.
The cottage, while not large in size, has great comfort and warmth with many places to sit and relax.
The lake temperature was just ideal for a hot summers day and we enjoyed the floating pad and the dock just soaking it all in.

The cottage was easy to find by car and boat. The main cottage has been nicely renovated and had all the amenities you need for vacation. The outdoor section and screened-in portion of the boathouse were lovely too. The dock was great for the kids to jump off and swim and also to fish. The owners were involved with booking and check-in and it was very smooth. We look forward to returning in the future.

Beautiful cottage in a great location!
As soon as we walked in to the cottage, we were immediately impressed with the beautiful decor and cleanliness. We were even more impressed with the view as soon as we stepped onto the deck.
We had an amazing time and would definitely go back! The only criticism we have, while it was not too much of a concern for us but may be a concern during really hot summer nights, is that there is no air conditioning. Although the owners left several fans throughout the house, which helped! It's also nice to keep the windows open to let the nice lake breeze in.
Great for a small family (tree house is every kids dream!).
We are looking forward to our next stay there!

Beautiful Muskoka retreat
Wonderful cottage which was modern & beautifully decorated..Dock & boathouse deck had sun all day & we're perfect for sitting out & drinking coffee/wine & watching wildlife & boats go by.. Had 2 teenage boys with us- so basketball court was a huge plus..location ideal between Gravenhurst & Bala..highly recommend

best getaway in Muskoka!
My husband and I just spent a wonderful week at Birchwood on Lake Muskoka. The cottage shows better than on the website which is rare and a very pleasant surprise….Rob and Francine were the perfect hosts with a very warm welcome. The cottage is beautifully decorated in white, extremely clean throughout with many windows that produce a wonderful breeze. The beds were comfortable and the entertainment area nice and cool. We really enjoyed the screened in room above the boathouse as we were there in black fly season (June) and were able to still enjoy the evenings without being bothered by bugs. We had a lovely fire on the deck which was a very nice touch while BBQ'ing our dinner. The kayak and canoe were nice perks as we enjoyed a nice quiet kayak each morning along the shore following a loon and a family of ducks. Overall, this cottage was just perfect for us and we will definitely return next year.

Muskoka Gem !
Absolutely loved your little corner of paradise. To be on Lake Muskoka.. one of the gem lakes in Ontario and be tucked away facing an unspoiled view of Grandview Island was just what was needed for a break away from the push and pull of working for a living. The extended dock that wasn't present last year was a huge addition which allowed my partner and I some extended sun time in the afternoon .We spent hours watching the vintage wood launches motor by over a pitcher of Sangria before dinner . The cottage is ultra clean and your staff is to be commended on their attention to detail . Having the use of the kayak and canoe on the lake early in the morning , paved basketball area for a shoot around and badminton in the afternoon was a nice addition to help offset the lazy atmosphere your cottage inspires . Hope you received my email regarding a re booking for two weeks next year !

Fun filled 5 days
Thank you Francine for renting to us your cottage this past June. My two boys and I truly enjoyed everything your place offers including badminton, basketball on a paved driveway, a sandy area at the waterfront for playing in, a swing and even a treehouse with balcony. Your dock extension with the big Muskoka chairs allowed for all day sun at the lake and sunsets. We will come again for sure.

Peace and Tranquility on Lake Muskoka
The property is exactly as described and the home couldn't have been more clean. Each room was well appointed and we had all the amenities that we needed for our vacation. We had the opportunity to rent a ski boat in Gravenhurst and the kids had a great time wake boarding and tubing. We highly recommend that you give this property a try! Ultimate Cottage Experience
We just returned from a splendid week and family get together at Birchwood Cottage in Muskoka. We enjoyed every minute in this charming setting. One could feel the vibes from this special place upon arrival with the fresh flowers, wine, white robes, towels, sheets and new appliances. The deck areas, BBQ, and use of the canoe were added perks.We visited various boutiques and restaurants and the park in nearby Gravenhurst. The owners, Francine and Rob, have worked hard to ensure that their guests feel at home in Birchwood. We highly recommend and would love to return.

Quiet and relaxing
I was thinking about this summer as it now Sept and I must say that our peak of enjoyment was the 5 days at your cottage. The property was newly renovated and super clean and the kitchen was almost over stocked with all we needed for cooking delicious meals. The BBQ was brand new. The view was fantastic and the water was around 7 ft deep at the end of the dock which is just the right depth for swimming with a family. A surprise was the propane fire pit on the boathouse deck which we used nightly. The owner, Francine, was so helpful and this cottage is better then she describes including limitless clean drinking water which is not so common in Muskoka cottages. I have already put down a deposit for next summer.

The perfect Muskoka experience
I stayed at this lovely cottage with my two teenage children for five days in August. I couldn't have been happier. It was brand new and absolutely spotless. The sheets were crisp and white and the towels were big and fluffy. The kitchen appliances were modern yet with that cottage feel. The lake was beautiful and open and there was a great safe swimming area for kids of all ages. We were allowed to use the decks at the boathouse which was a great perk. We also had use of the kayak and canoe. Inside there was a flat screen TV in a media area that reminded the teens that they were not "roughing it". We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Adorable cottage - clean and tidy!
We had a wonderful stay at the Birchwood cottage. The cottage is so charming, well decorated, and very clean. We stayed with another couple and we had four small kids among us (all under 6). The children had a great time with the play house, it was a great 'babysitter!" and at all times I could always see them from the cottage while they were playing on the property. The fish were also biting off the dock for the kids! Francine and Rob were very welcoming when we arrived and showed as around which was a lovely touch along with the fresh flowers! The cottage has everything that you could possibly need. We had four adults and four children and there was more than enough space. We had cold weather and spend a considerable amount of time inside the cottage. The boathouse porch was also a nice quiet refuge.
Just a note that if you plan to come with a baby, the two rooms on the first floor are not big enough to accommodate a playpen for sleeping.

Beautifully kept muskoka family cottage
I rented this cottage with my family in august and it was not a disappointment . The location is excellent with a beautuful private deck off the kitchen. The dock is amazing with lots of muskoka chairs to relax in.. They have a ladder off the dock to help you get in and out of the beautiful water which is amazing for swimming in.
The upper deck on boathouse had a quaint screened in porch room which is great for reading with protection from any bugs. Clean and fully stocked with everything you would need for a great week. Would definately go back.

The cottage was clean, very inviting and had a spectacular view of lake Muskoka. My family had a blast. Lots of space for the 4 of us to enjoy.

Paradise!
We stayed at Birchwood cottage with our 3 children and we had a fantastic vacation. The cottage and property were absolutely gorgeous with a magnificent lakeside view. The interior of the cottage was spotless and everything was brand new. It was well stocked with everything we needed including towels, beach towels, sheets, and cooking supplies. Our days were spent canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and swimming in the beautiful lake. Perfection! None of us wanted to leave. Francine was so kind and great to deal with. She was easily accessible if we had any questions along the way. We will definitely be booking for next summer....and probably every year for many years to come.
