We had a fantastic view, and immediate access to the beach. The layout was great, having the kitchen in the outside balcony was a nice touch. Allowed us to enjoy the views and sound while cooking, eating, or doing some work on the dining room table. The host was very attentitave and made our stay delightful. You do need a car at this location as it a bit removed from the action and restaurants. A pool was advertised but its really small and not for adult swimming. A minor note is that the towells could use some refershing.

Great stay right on a clean, quiet beach. Basic functional kitchen. Easy walking to grocery store, bus stop and Bridgetown. Our host was personable and accessible, but gave us our privacy as well. Would highly recommend!

One of our best vacations ever. Gertrud and Harold, the hosts, are fantastic and very responsive to any issues. We loved it (and them) so much that we have booked another extended stay for 4 weeks. Excellent site and accommodation! Quiet, spotless mile long beach and green flash sunsets. The large kitchen/dining table balcony area with a gorgeous ocean view also has lounging chairs, a hammock, and a hightop island seating four. We spent most of our non-beach time there. Very comfortable beds, ample closet space, large bath with shower and tub. Bonus items not mentioned in previous reviews, beautiful gardens, laundry machines on site, rooftop sunbathing with a terrific view, outside shower. There are two restaurants on the beach within walking distance, the excellent La Cabane is often rated in top 3 for Barbados, and Rascals for low key, local flavor with a water park for kids. Grocery store is a 10 minute walk away, taxi back is $7. Gertrud will drive you there for your first marketing trip. You absolutely can not go wrong booking Sunshine Paradise for your Barbados vacation.

It is great to be able to be outside listening and looking at the ocean while making and eating meals. There are also comfortable Adirondack chairs and a great hammock for relaxing. When not on the beach this is where we spent most of our time, looking out at the amazing view! The apartment is perfect and you will want for nothing except to wish you could stay longer. Now for the beach, which is right in your backyard. Gertrud has everything you need for the beach, lounge chairs, sand umbrella, kayak, snorkel and mask. You open the gate and take 5 steps and you are in a perfect spot. This is the best part as you don’t have to pack up and lug all of your stuff down to the beach. Its two seconds to go back up to the apartment when you need anything. You won’t need to go any farther than this spot for relaxing on the beach. There are never any crowds, the beach is always quiet. The sunsets every night are amazing! The beach is beautiful with white sand and turquoise water. It is great for swimming as the waves, if there are any, are very gentle in this area. You can take great walks on the beach. A short walk to the left brings you to the pier and an outdoor restaurant. To the right is a much prettier and longer walk which also leads to a great outdoor restaurant called La Cabane, tables are right on the beach and the food and drinks are amazing! We headed out with just our bathing suits and a credit card, no shoes or towels and ended up there for a great lunch more than once. It’s a wonderful way to spend the afternoon strolling and swimming down the beach and stopping for lunch. It was the perfect vacation, so relaxing and fun. Mesmerising view of the Caribbean Sea whilst drinking coffee and eating breakfast sat in the open air kitchen area. Fantastic comfortable bed, lots of space and lots of breeze. A new place but it felt like home. Thank you Gertrud and Harold for the most magnificent time. I wish we could've stayed longer. Best place we've ever been to for sure.

What a joy to leave a blizzard in the US to arrive at "Sunshine Paradise." The accommodations were perfect and exactly what we were looking for - quiet, peaceful, relaxing. The studio apartment was very roomy and comfortable, especially the king size bed. The large outdoor kitchen and balcony were the perfect location for enjoying the view of the Sea in the morning and the quiet breeze in the evening. Just a short walk for groceries so we could enjoy many of our meals right from our own kitchen. The owner was so helpful in providing us directions on how to get around to some of the best locations on the island. Transportation on the local buses was very convenient to get to all coasts and certainly gave you a flavor of the local culture. Each coast offering a different island personality.The restaurants on the island were excellent, great food and service while taking advantage of the beautiful oceanfront views. We would definitely recommend this location. It provides you with quiet solitude, but also the opportunity to travel to other areas for more action and entertainment. We would also recommend the daily catamaran tours with Silver Moon and Tiami. They provided a great tour along the West Coast and an opportunity to snorkel with the turtles. Also, a short walk up the beach to Weiser's Beach Bar. Good food and drinks.

I had long planned a visit to the island to check out my family history as my great grandmother and grandfather born here and Gertrud was on hand so many times to run us about in her car and to give advice on where I should look, and in fact I was able to find out a lot of information. Thank you so much for that Gertrud. The apartment was fabulous - we couldn't have been more comfortable and we did an awful lot of lounging about looking out over the sea and sampling the local rum! It was very windy and I was a bit nervous of getting blown out to sea when we used the canoe but it was great fun and all part of a marvellous holiday. We did hire a car for 3 days so we could see the rest of the island and found that the apartment was ideally situated for this. Altogether a fabulous break and I would recommend this property to anyone, not just friends or relatives.

Gertrud offered to take us to get groceries the first morning, but an easy walk to the store for us. How convenient to have our own breakfast and lunch, so only needed to buy evening meals daily, and we found that 2 meals were sufficient for the three of us....more money to enjoy the sites! We literally had no problem walking up and down the beach the first 3 days. A lovely art studio within walking distance, and the best beach restaurant and bar, Weisers on the Bay, and easy walk every evening. We did rent a car for 3 days to explore the island, but bus within walking distance, and taxis reasonably priced. NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL about this rental. If I ever get to Barbados again, I will definitely stay here. Gertrud gave us fresh coconuts and she even built a fire on her private beach last evening, and we introduced her to S'mores! We visited the Animal Flower Caves, Oistins, Welchman Hall Gully, a great art studio in Speightstown, drove to the East Coast...and my favorite, the Zipline. Actually wish we'd had the car longer to visit some pottery places, but driving is not for the faint of heart for those of us used to driving on the right side of the road. Gertrud was a wealth of knowledge of things to see and do, and I don't know when I have ever been so relaxed on a vacation! Thank you, Gerturd, and I hope to see you again some day!
