We were in the area to Ski at Gore Mountain a straight shot 21-mile/26-minutes door to door. House was a great option over hotels given the price. Most of the drive to Gore was down Rt. 28 - which was well cleared of snow to get to skiing. Loved the hot tub, wood stove, propane grill, steam shower, large projection TV to watch basketball/football and other amenities the house offered over others we compared in the area. Chris the owner was great at communication. He offers options for bringing your own linens/and hot tub use to to keep the nightly rate lower. He provided tons of firewood, propane, two large fridges, and large (queen) comfortable beds. Place was clean - and user friendly. We didn't plan for it - but this seems an incredible property for those who snow mobile - saw tons of trails near the house and throughout the area. Only suggestion to the listing - this is the 1st house/driveway on the left.

With a couple caveats: we arrived and the hot tub was cold, but not the biggest deal. We started it up and waited to use it the second night. The owner said there was a fee to pay to use the hot tub, supposedly to cover electric costs and requested $60 cash to cover it. If it's in the listing as an amenity it shouldn't come with hidden fees and on top of that, the price for electricity is rather high to cover 3 nights stay (we booked for four and left the third though we planned it that way)
Additionally, the steam shower did not work. The owner discolosed the issue via text that the high pressure was not though no matter what we tried we couldn't get it to produce steam at all. Again, an amenity listed that wasn't available.
That all out of the way, the place was fantastic for our crash pad after hiking Allen and relaxing the rest of the days. I would consider coming again but the hidden fee didn't really sit right with us.

Stayed at Camp Matty with extended family. There was plenty of room to spread out. It was very peaceful and quiet. We loved spending time on the deck during the day and by the fire at night! Great memories made!

We had a great time at Camp Matty, This was our first family getaway since becoming grandparents and we had a great time. I had a few questions at check in and Chris reached out right away to make sure everything went well. I would definitely revisit.

Great cabin with all the amenities - the hot tub was perfect after a day of skiing at Gore. When we forgot a couple things at the house (including an iPad), the owner reached out right away to have them returned.

My family and i spent week at Camp Matty. The place was perfect for us and the kids had a blast. From sledding to the hot tub and finishing off the night with a movie by the fire. The location was great within 20 mins of Gore Mountain and right by the town. The Indian Lake Restaurant was also very good. See you next year!

Overall our stay was disappointing. The house itself has a lot of potential but there are things we could not get over.
-no smoke/carbon monoxide detectors
-first floor shower does not drain
-no fire starting materials
-no heat in house first night as it took time to heat up
-no hot tub for 24 hours as it also took time to heat up - messaged host prior saying we would like to use it
-overall level of dirtiness in the house
-sliding doors downstairs do not lock and have pieces of wood keeping them shut (safety issue)
-no curtains or blinds on any of the windows made us uncomfortable
-we were asked to bring our own linens (totally fine!) but the beds/pillows themselves were stained and quite gross
-chairs falling apart at dining table
-plaster all over wall where projector goes, difficult to watch movies
My friends and I rent houses every year and I guess have been lucky with good experiences. This was a very disappointing experience however there was nothing that could be done in the moment so we did not bring these matters up with the host at the time. Again, the house has so much potential with a more work and thought put into it.

We enjoyed our stay!

Perfect spot for an Adirondack family getaway. The cabin is just the right size and there are extra bells and whistles to make it very comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay at Camp Matty. Interior was clean and in good condition. The front bed room bed is worn but we did not use it. In Winter the hot tub takes a long time to get to temperature, if this is part of your stay, be aware to ask if it can be turned up in advance. Had some unusual challenges with the WiFi but Chris was very helpful resolving the situation. Don't forget to bring sheets and toiletries/toilet paper etc.

This cabin was absolutely perfect for my family and some friends for a small ski vacation. The cabin was clean, the owner was responsive almost within the hour of each message. The 20 minute ride to Gore mountain was fine. The little town of Indian Lake had a lot charm as well. Great place if you’re a snowmobiler or skier during the winter months.
Thanks again Camp Matty!!!

We enjoyed staying at Camp Matty. The property is so quiet and calm, even though there are other homes within sight I never heard a peep from anyone. The cabin is easy to find and access from the town below. Close to gas station, a pizza place. It is quiet without being completely secluded.

My experience was not what I had expected. Upon arrival in August 2021, we had to launder, vacuum and dust. The lawn was in need of mowing and we had to clean out the fire pit in order to use it. The air conditioner did not work the first day but was fixed the following day. I contacted the host about our concerns and he responded promptly offering a $100 refund. After four months of messaging back and forth with the host, I have yet to receive the refund. Although the cabin was nice and the host attentive while we were there, I cannot leave a postitive recommendation for this property.

My husband and I have been visiting the Adirondack mountains since before we were married (38 years). It has always been a place of respite and relaxation. We haven't been able to get away for over 10 years and finally made a commitment to resume these mini vacations. While searching we came across Camp Matty in our favorite location - Indian Lake. After finally finding a time to go, we secured the cabin through VRBO which was new for us. We immediately received a confirmation and were set.
While the other members of our family had to back out we decided to invite some of our friends who have never been on vacation in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains.
When we arrived, the "check-in" was easy with the owner/caretaker leaving the keys in an easily accessible location and we were pleasantly surprised with the spaciousness and cleanliness of the home. It was beautifully decorated with typical lake and mountain finishes. A few things that were NOT typical were the family/entertainment/bar are on the lower level with 2 sliding doors to the outside firepit and hot tub area. This was appointed with 2 comfortable sofas, refrigerator, projector, foosball (soccer) table and dart board. While we didn't have enough time, people or opportunity to take full advantage of these we will in the future. We did however use the hot tub.
With sleeping areas on all 3 levels, there is plenty of room for your family/friends to join along for some peace and quiet.
The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. Since it was our first time, I did pack my crockpot to make some mulled apple cider and chili and was pleased to see that I don't need to bring that next time as there was one already there.
The owner thought of everything... including a whole house Generac generator, which we had the pleasure of seeing work when the town had a power outage. While we always enjoy a good power outage it was comforting to know we didn't have to "rough it" at Camp Matty.
I can't recommend this beautiful home and location enough. YOU MUST BOOK YOUR STAY NOW!.
We are excited to visit again!

This getaway was for the whole family (all 6 of us). We wanted to go hiking, do some fishing and just relax. This place gave us all three to the maximum. Can’t recommend enough, would give 10 stars if possible.

We enjoyed our stay at Camp Matty. It’s a cozy yet spacious home with an abundance of queen beds that was perfect for our spring family ski trip. The highlights of the home are the hot tub, wood burning stove, Weber grill, and the steam shower! Communication with the owner was on point and the location was easy to find via Waze (however, the Navigation on our brand new 2021 SUV did not recognize the address). The peace and tranquility of the area was just what we needed...never heard a car! Would definitely recommend.

I came up with my fiancée and my 2 dogs to go snowboarding at mount gore and to ultimately just get away for a little. The property was absolutely beautiful. Tucked in the woods, it was very private and peaceful. There was a hot tub at the property that worked great and was very clean. Hiking trails very close to the property which our dogs loved. It was even snowing when we got back from snowboarding and I was having a little trouble getting up. The caretaker happened to swing by at the same time and plowed the driveway. Chris was very attentive, the caretaker came through in the clutch, and the place was beautiful. We had a great time, would definitely come back and would definitely recommend

We rented this property specifically for a snowmobile trip, it’s located close to the trails . Also it has the perfect Adirondack feel and decor with all the modern amenities. Our kids loved the outdoor hot tub which was set outside under the deck and we had just gotten fresh snow so it was a winter wonderland for the senses! The steam shower was also a nice treat. No lack of entertainment if you stay in from the cold ,it’s equipped with WiFI and loads of TV stations and calls can be made over the WiFi with your cell phone .Very homy and cozy with the wood stove in the main rom of the home.Chris is very attentive to messages and questions. Our 10 year for his snowmobile license in the fall and we promised him a snowmobile trip, he already wants to go back! Camp Matty did not disappoint, a must stay if your looking for Modern convenience surrounded by nature.

Camp Matty at Indian Lake is very centrally located in the Adirondacks. Perfect for multi family gatherings with kids and dogs. There are four restaurants in Indian Lake, which after a full day of hiking, is welcoming. This was our first trip to the Adirondacks and I would recommend Camp Matty to Friends and Family traveling to the ADK.
