We loved our nine days at this sweet, quiet cottage in coffee country. It was a perfect home base for exploring the island, near and far.
We found the cottage to be as advertised, a clean well equipped, comfortable space… and the hosts welcoming, helpful. Based at this cottage allowed us to easily enjoy the area and learn about its historic communities.
Ours was a highly memorable stay. We’d love to go back!

This was our 5th or 6th visit to the Cottage and we had another amazing time. The Cottage is always clean and inviting. It really is a great spot to relax, see local sights and to be in a local community to get a sense of life on this wonderful island.

Extremely cozy cottage with everything the two of us needed for our stay on the Big Island. Jim is a great host and extremely kind and accommodating. The beach chairs, umbrella, and outdoor shower were greatly appreciated. The meticulously cleaned space is in a great location to enjoy the peaceful side of the Big Island.

We enjoyed our stay at the lovely lodge. Jim is a terrific host, who is highly responsive and keenly attuned to his guests' needs. The location is well located to nearby snorkeling and the stay was the relaxing, rejuvenating experience we were hoping for.

Close enough to what you may need in Kailua-Kona but far enough from the beaten path that you know you're away from it all. Property has a nice little orchard on the grounds and plenty of birds to keep you feeling like you're in a rain forest. Great location.

We enjoyed our week long stay at the cottage. It was comfortable and close to local amenities. Plus, we were able to prepare meals most evenings from the kitchen supplies provided. Terry was a friendly host as well!

This was perfect. Fabulous location close to Captain Cook, two step snorkeling , and the National park. Host was very informative, friendly, and helpful. Definitely will stay here again and again.

The studio apartment off the garage provided a sweet place from which to enjoy a relaxing visit to Hawai’i. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, and the space was perfect for what we needed. We recommend showing up in daylight. We arrived after dark and—even with the very detailed instructions provided—had a hard time finding it. The rural Hawaiian roads are just to dark to see much. Other than that initial hiccup, it was lovely.

We loved our stay here! There was plenty of space, a nice kitchenette, the bed was comfy, the guidebook was much appreciated and everything was clean. We enjoyed waking up to lots of birds singing in the orchard and sitting out on the porch at night. Of all the places without AC that we stayed, this was by far the most comfortable and cool, both during the day and evening.
Great location where you get to feel nestled away, yet very close to a lot of great stuff (by car).
If we ever return to big island, this is definitely where we'll be staying!

The room is small but cozy. It has more amenities than most other similarly-sized rooms. The bed is comfortable. There is no air conditioning (that I saw) but there are ample windows and ceiling fans, as well as a good crosswind; there is also a lot of natural shade. At no point did I feel too warm or stifled.
The views are great and you are close to some great water features of the island. The one drawback--and I use that loosely because it wasn't much of an issue for me--is that the road to the driveway is very steep; if you are a timid driver you may want to be cautious here, but this sort of thing is also to be expected of the island.
Terrence is definitely a host with aloha. Mahalo.

This is a very sweet little cottage attached to a garage. Very well appointed with everything you need. Beautiful grounds and very nice, accessible hosts who live on the property. Very peaceful place away from the hustle/bustle of Kona. A bit hard to find but worth the effort! And a great bed!
If you snorkel, easy access by car to Two Step. Don’t miss Black Rock Pizza!
Jim provides lots of important info before you get here about all that is relevant to being here. Highly recommend!

Beautiful little cottage in gorgeous captain cook. Close to beaches, fruit stands and shopping. Friendly, helpful host. BTW- I received a strange email by VRBO stating the listing may have issues. Don’t believe it! That is some form of spam that the host is trying to correct. This is a perfectly fine wonderful little place. Perfect for two people.

Jim and Terry were very nice making sure we had all we needed. Quiet and private. Close drive to everything. I would make sure you check in in the daylight. We struggled to find it in the dark and in a storm. Great stay!!!

We had a great time staying at this location—the small details from eloquently folded kitchen towels and bath tissue. The furnishing, colors, decoration, and towels were all top-notch. The bed was comfy. Having access to the mini orchard was great. It was frustrating to be close but not have any access to sit and enjoy the ocean view. If the owners are reading this, a small table at the end of your driveway in your yard will suffice many who crave the ocean view—overall, not having the ocean view was frustrating. That said, the place was in a fantastic location with easy access to many hot snorkeling spots. The hosts were fantastic.

We loved staying in this suite. Jim was very welcoming and easy to reach when our flights were delayed. The suite had everything we needed, immaculately clean, and extremely comfortable. We slept well, and enjoyed eating on the patio. The location is perfect. We hope to stay again on our next trip.

Nice spot if you’re looking for calm. Perfect place for 2, place is as described, very friendly host. We liked it very much, very different from our usual stay down the coast. When you’re having dinner on the table outside in the evening, the coqui frogs can be very loud, but you get used to it and I guess thats the price to pay to be in the middle of the forest ! Definitely recommended, we’ll come back !
