This house was much roomier than I imaged from the pictures. All the rooms were good sized, and everything was there to cook meals and set an attractive table. This had a charming old fashion feel but had cable and wi-fi available to make keep me entertained and connected. So grateful that Joe and Beckie shared their little place to travelers like me looking for something beyond a motel room.

Charming old colonial home is located across the street from access to the banks of the west branch of the beautiful Farmington River. The two bedroom first floor of the home includes a patio area, large kitchen and cozy sitting room. I was called home for an emergency before my departure time and Becky was super kind and arranged for a generous partial refund. I highly recommend this property.

The property owner, Joe, is a avid fly fisherman and bird hunter , very personable, a wealth of information about the local area. We wouldn't hesitate to return !! Wonderful place: clean, comfortable, quiet. The only suggestion for improvement: put in a king size bed!! We were happy to be near relatives in the area.

Location was great and the setup was perfect for my family. My folks are older and they absolutely loved all the decorations, single level floor plan. Plenty of room to stretch out. Host were great and easy to work with. Would recommend.

The property was very comfortable. Decorated in a 50's style furnishings it was stylish and interesting, but not daunting, even with a 5 year old. The kitchen was beautiful and well appointed. I even ventured to host a dinner, which I would never to do in a normal rental, but this space was perfect for hosting a small dinner (8). The river is close, a stone's throw from the front door. We toured several small, quaint, new England towns during our visit and really enjoyed the low-key get away. Joe and Beckie responded promptly to all our questions and reservation needs. Very satisfied.

This was one of the best VRBOs that we have done. The property was exactly as advertised (you get most of the house, including the entire first floor and an upstairs bedroom that is completely separate from a small separate in-law suite that was occupied by someone while we were there. If it weren't for his truck in the drive way we never would have known that he was there.) You can throw a stone from the house to the Farmington River and it was a wonderfully mildly updated old farmhouse. A fuse blew at one point and the owner was there in literally two minutes to fix it. This was originally intended to be a quick trip up to CT to see family and friends but then, as happens, my dad died just before we were due to check in. This house afforded my family and I a place to not only vacation (great Farmington River tubing only a couple of miles away), but a space to pause and reflect in a quiet wonderful atmosphere on the things that make us family.

This home was perfect for my needs! I was visiting the area to attend a memorial service and had volunteered to bake multiple loaves of bread for the event. The kitchen was perfect: large and accommodating. The location was lovely, and close to parks for hiking. Only 10 miles to a town with a grocery store and good restaurants. Communication with hosts was easy and prompt. I recommend this property!

Cozy home, great location
We stayed 5 nights at the property to spend TG with our daughter who lives in New Haven, CT. On arrival, Joe, our host, greeted us, showed us the house and offered great tips for outdoor excursions nearby. The house was well supplied, especially the kitchen which was key for us. The common areas of the house were comfortable and cozy. Both bedrooms were ample and comfortable. The location is great to visit a variety of hikes on The People’s Forest area which is beautiful. We also enjoyed the view of the river, just across the road from the house and the trail walk along the river bank. We had nice weather and so we’re able to enjoy the outside deck for a nice b-b-q. Net we had a lovely family visit and the house was a very positive factor to make it so. I certainly recommend the property!

Perfect for fishing, hiking, paddling.
A comfortable old house with plenty of room right across the street from the Farmington River. We wanted a quiet vacation to fish, hike and paddle, and this is perfect. There are several farm stands in the area, and we bought some nice veggies. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans. The owners - Joe and Beckie - are available and work nearby. Joe was very helpful with fishing advice. We had a great time!

Beautiful and cozy
A very cozy, and clean home. As soon as I walked into this charming place I was wishing I had booked more nights. The location was close to small, charming New England towns. It was also nice being right along a beautiful river. I would definitely stay here again.
