We had a great stay at this property. Everything was as advertised. We enjoyed the time at the local beach, kayaks and also rented from two different boat companies. My boys were disappointed that the fish weren't biting, but everything else was wonderufl.

We spent the weekend with another couple at the lake house. We loved sitting outside on the patio during the day and around the fire at night. We rented a boat nearby for the day. Beautiful, quiet spot with comfortable beds.

Joe was extremely responsive to our questions. He addressed minor concerns quickly! So generous of him to share his property so willingly. Lovely, peaceful location.

We had a great stay! Joe was very communicative and allowed us beach access and access to their kayaks. Overall very clean and well kept!

The house is a nice little house. The inside of the house was nice and clean but we spent the whole time outside. We were grilling on the fire pit, watching the boats go by and most of all the fishing. My kids loved going to the little beach they had there. Kids didn't want yo leave and nor the grown ups. The host is a nice gentlemen, made sure everything was ok. We would stay there again.

My family of 4 stayed at the house for 6 days. We rented a pontoon boat at a local rental store. Nice sunsets and patio for outside dining. We would stay there again

This home is amazing! It's right on the water with an incredible view. Inside has all the high end fixtures that anyone would love and outside is the Lake Life anyone will enjoy. We sat out on the patio every morning drinking coffee, watching the birds chirp and fly around, while the squirrels were jumping around the trees and fish were jumping on the water. We brought our own Stand up Paddle board, which we went out on the lake almost every morning while the water was so glassy and smooth. If you stay a week, the owner will allow you to use one of his many kayaks, which we did too. He has a little beach area for launching the Paddle Boards & kayaks or just play in the sand. Also, Rented a pontoon boat from Jett Fun on Fox Lake just up the road to really get that Lake Life feel. It was amazing. I highly recommend staying here...

We had an amazing stay!! The boat house was super charming! Besides a few things that should have been cleaned before guests arrive; the place was nice. Great Lake access and super serene! The fire pit was also awesome!! The one thing that was a bit of a bummer…the water pressure! It was very limited…flushing a toilet meant no water in the rest of the place for 5 plus minutes. I would be back in a hot minute if that could get fixed 😊

Beautiful and relaxing property! We felt safe, welcome and right at home the entire stay. Sadly we weren't able to enjoy the boating part of our trip this time, but can see how fun and accessible this property would have been with one! Loved being able to bring our well pups. The house was clean and didn't smell like dogs had been there at all!

This is a boathouse converted to a rental on owner's property, right on the lake, in a lovely, quiet bay, away from all the weekend crazies on the chain! The sunsets are gorgeous, home is completely freshly updated with modern appliances, air conditioning, and owner is accessible 24/7 if needed. We brought our 3 grown children and niece, and enjoyed every minute. Joe was the ultimate host, eager to answer questions and make recommendations. We rented boats from 2 different companies on the chain and were able to dock right in front of the house. The firepit was a highlight as well. Thank you Joe, we will be back!

We had a wonderful time. Joe was a great host. You could tell the house had recently been remodeled. The interior of the house was very clean. The exterior patios needed a bit of bug clean up, but nothing major. My only suggestion is for nicer patio furniture on the front porch and umbrellas on both porches. The sun is brutal. He was very helpful in finding us a pontoon boat rental, which we were very happy with. He also allowed us to use his private beach and kayaks, which was not part of our contract, but highly appreciated with an active 7 year old. I would absolutely recommend this house, and would consider a return visit.

House is great, location is great, Joe was super nice & accommodating.

This was our first time renting someone’s home. The experience went smoothly from start to finish with Joe. He answered any questions I had prior to arriving. Upon arrival, property was clean and as described. Beds were comfy, kitchen was well supplied for any cooking needs. Coffee pods were supplied also! Washer and dryer was a huge plus for me. Very spacious for our family of 4. Both bedrooms are very large. Outdoor space was great for fishing, relaxing by fire pit. Plenty of sunny and shady areas. Boat rentals are nearby. Despite covid, we found outdoor dining close to the house. Joe checked in numerous times during our stay. Best part of our stay was bringing our 2 boxers! That saved us finding someone to watch them. Our overall experience was perfect. We will definitely stay again and recommend to friends!

Joe's property is great. It is in a wonderful quiet location and is clean and tidy. Although we had an issue with the code on the door, Joe was quick to provide us with a key. Great to be able to bring our dogs along.

Joe was amazing. We were able to feed our sailor and the shipmates that were unable to connect with their family over Thanksgiving. We are truly thankful!!! What an amazing few days. The property is incredible and it was just what we needed.

This was our second trip to this property and it is lovely. So relaxing right on the water. It is great to be able to travel with our dogs. Joe is wonderful to rent from and keeps a beautiful home!

First thing, people need to know that the Chain O'Lakes region in IL is not the super high end. These are regular homes owned by regular people. So if you'r looking for the Hamptons or such this isn't it. That said, in my opinion, the Chain is a very unqiue cloister of very nice, affordable vacation homes within a 60 minute drive of downtown Chicago. Try finding that withing 60 minutes of New York!! It is a lake wonderland, with wildlife, trophy fishing, beautiful sunsets, watersports, night life, and all within at short drive of the cosmopolitan culture and architectural splendor of Chicago. That is a very uncommon combination. I vacationed with my two mid-20s sons (I'm Dad) and we went boating, fishing, ate out twice at a lovely lake shore restaurant 10 minutes from the cottage, visited family, went to the Second City Comedy Club one night, saw a "Downtown" Broadway in Chicago play one night ("Come from Away" at the Cadillac Palace Theater), and saw the more raw "Chicago style" theater another night ("True West" at the Steppenwolf Theater in Old Town). The only thing we didn't fit in was a Cubs game at Wrigley (but we drove by and took photos). Joe's house is a very nice, lakefront 2-story cottage/house. It is very easy to get to and very close to Fox Lake and other commercial amenities, yet -- by virtue of the twisted channels and bends of the Chain O'Lakes, has a very secluded feel. Each night you could hear fish jumping in the lake. The last morning we were there, a Sunday, we came home from Church (many churches of all faiths very nearby) at about 9:30 am, and there on the log in the channel was a big Heron standing there. I took his picture (maybe Joe posted it) and then he majestically took off. As if to bid us farewell. The house is spacious and up to date. The appliances and technology are all modern. It's a two bedroom, but both bedrooms are spacious. My two 6' boys were not crowded in the bedroom they shared and I had ample room in the master. The living room, dining area and kitchen are equally spacious and with nice views. The house sits on the "corner" of the open lake and a secluded channel. So you have expansive lake views and sunsets, yet you don't have boats zooming by all the time. The Channel is very secluded (hence the Heron). It is an economical place that I would highly recommend for a couple or small family. And it sleeps more if needed. We would go there again if in the area.
