Cittadella Hostal

Good location, room with rooftop patio.

Kitchen was filthy, dirty dishes (some filled with food) in oven and left there as well as food and dirty dishes stacked everywhere , unhelpful staff member , difficulty gaining access to hostel despite communicating time of arrival and being told to ring bell on arrival, difficulty getting the room we had actually booked. No sense of community in hostel.

We had a wonderful stay at Citadella Hostel in Sucre. We arrived very early in the morning, well before the 12 noon check-in time, but Mirta was incredibly kind and helpful. She even woke up at 6am to answer the door and let us in. The hostel is very well located, within easy walking distance of the main tourist attractions and the local market, where we enjoyed a lovely traditional Bolivian lunch. We felt very much at home during our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, giving us useful local tips and directions. They also kindly stored our luggage until our late departure and explained exactly how to take the trufi to the airport, including where and how to board it, which gave us peace of mind about catching our flight on time. A very welcoming place with genuinely helpful staff. We highly recommend Citadella Hostel for anyone visiting Sucre!

Kitchen area was a bit messy, with guests leaving dirty dishes and pans, but that was not an issue for us.

The terrace was incredible. Almost a viewing point.

The woman running the hostel welcomed us by saying something from the third floor, which we couldn’t understand at first. When she eventually came downstairs, she seemed like she didn’t enjoy her job at all. She also charged me triple the price for a fruit I accidentally ate, which I had assumed was free.

Very central

U cannot invite guests inside the room despite paying the whole room. We have to talk outside in the foyer in the freezing cold.
