Great place to stay on the North Shore. Condo was clean and comfortable for all 4 adults. Appreciated the fans and AC units in each sleeping space. Close to the pool and to Turtle Bay Resort and beach. It was about a 5 minute walk for us. Went down to the resort almost every day for the beach and drinks/food in the evening. We had a car but chose to walk as it was so close and a beautiful walk. Walking on the golf course path also leads to a beach! A five to ten minute drive in either direction leads to food trucks, Ted’s bakery, etc. Cathy was great to work with. Check in process and communication was made easy. Will definitely stay here again!

Very comfortable condo. Easy access to everything on the north shore.

The checkin email was appreciated. However the keys that were supposed to be in an envelope with my name per the email were not there. The keys that were turned out to be maintenance keys. In the listing it has an address, however the address is not the address listed when booked. When I contacted Cathy she asked if I was at her home to pick up the keys she forgot to leave in the mailbox per her email instructions. I let her know I got keys from the mailbox which is when I found out they were maintenance keys. When I asked for confirmation on the address she got an attitude and referred me to the email she had sent. I eventually found the correct unit per the email only to be greeted with cockroaches on the counter and walls of the kitchen. I messaged Cathy regarding the cockroaches and she told me she was made aware of them on Friday, and had the condo sprayed on Friday and Monday (day of arrival). I let her know I understood she had someone spray but the cockroaches were still in the condo and very much alive. Instead of sending maintenance to spray again or offer a can of spray she immediately offered a refund so we could move somewhere else. It was clear I was not going to get any help with the issue from her and after looking for anywhere else to move the cost was 3x what was already paid due to short notice. So we bought our own can of raid and sprayed all week as the cockroaches never left. After looking under the sink I discovered multiple cockroaches sticky bait traps full of cockroaches with dust covering them. This problem clearly didn’t start on Friday as I was told. I would not be renting from her again. A simple attempt to help with the problem would have sufficed however she showed no interest in guaranteeing our stay was pleasant and cockroach free. The layout was cute and having pool toys and a couple life jackets available was one of the reasons we booked here.

We have stayed at Turtle Bay condos numerous times with friends and family. We love the North Shore’s proximity to our favorite beaches away from busy Honolulu. This condo met our needs as far as beds and space. The beds were comfortable, the common areas were good for our group. The kitchen and bathrooms could have been cleaned a tad better. It’s an upstairs unit, so keep that in mind if you have older travelers. The pool was great, we used it almost every night after beach and before bed for the kids. They loved being able to swim there after long days at the beach. Kahuku is a great town with amazing food stops. It’s a must place to stay if you want to avoid the craziness of Honolulu, and has some of the best beaches within 5-25 minute drives. We think Turtle Bay is the best place to stay on Oahu. A condo lockbox would make key retrieval and drop off a little easier. Overall a great place to rent, and we loved our stay here.

This was a gem. We had all that we needed. A few extra perks included loft upstairs for the kids, beach amenities (especially beach chairs and boogie boards), and a super comfortable bed. I would stay here again.

We loved this home. It was a 10 minute walk to the beach. It is located on the north shore area and very close to many visitor hot spots. The place was spacious enough for the five of us, though we did have a minor issue with the downstairs bathroom, the owner was super responsive and informed us of how to address the matter. You do have to travel to another location pick-up/drop off the key that access the unit, but it is not far (though a slight inconvenience). The kitchen was stocked with everything necessary to prep a meal and the in-unit washer and dryer was fantastic to have.

First time in Hawaii and heard north shore is the best area to stay! It was a great location had some beautiful beaches only 13 minutes away. We enjoyed using the boogie boards that were there for us! Only downside is the carpet felt dirty and just the bugs. I read the reviews before so I did expect them! Other than that if I ever come back I’ll be staying here again!

It was nice to have a separate loft with a bathroom for the kids. My only suggestion to cater more to a family like ours that still has young kids would be to add some plastic plates and cups. Everything else was great, it was clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

We've stayed at Kuilima Estates condos many times for the past 32 years. This condo has that "Hawaiiana" feel. It felt like being at "home in the islands". Back in the day, check in was much harder, this was not so bad. Yes, you have to go to the prop managers house to pick-up/drop-off keys but I really did not mind that at all, it was very easy to find and it was nice to pick up from a home instead of a business that may have limited hours. The beds were very comfortable. The overall condo was clean. There was a slight issue. This is not uncommon for the islands in general. As mentioned in other reviews, there were a few cockroach sightings, especially in the loft upstairs and a couple in the kitchen. Our friends, who have never been to the islands, got the full "island" feel since they were staying in the loft :). I spoke to Cathy about this and she explained what was going on and it totally made sense and hopefully that issue, which is no fault of theirs, will be resolved very soon. Otherwise, a very good stay. There were lots of items you would need for the beach; chairs, sand toys, boogie board, snorkeling gear, towels ... etc. So nice to have readily available. The washer/dryer is on the smaller side so when you wash the towels at the end of the stay, you may want to start the night before. :). We did and it was no problem at all. Very clean and comfortable. Loved that it had everything we needed from boogie boards to everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. It definitely felt like a home away from home. It was perfectly located too! Definitely will be staying here again! Cathy was easy to reach out too so don't hesitate to ask questions if you need help!

We lived on the North Shore 18 years ago and this was so reminiscent of how life was back then, except this condo has air conditioning, and all we ever had (as well as the majority of people then) was a fan. We loved the Hawaiian theme decorating and everything is well stocked. There were plenty of bathroom towels, but only 6 beach towels, so I was glad I brought extra beach towels as to not destroy the fluffy bathroom towels provided. We had a great time swimming in the community pool and we REALLY appreciated the boogie boards, sand toys, life jackets, and snorkeling gear--these provided items really go above and beyond! Bonus that there was after sun(burn...oops) products. You could easily stay long term with the well stocked kitchen (plenty of plates, silverware, cookware, etc and we were even able to make smoothies with the blender!) The beds are comfortable. There are extra folding chairs to supplement the four chairs at the table. I did have to clean the dryer out as it was full of lint (fire hazard as well as reduced airflow increasing dry time) and also vacuumed a bunch of sand out of the lint exhaust, but this is likely due to previous tenants not shaking towels out (which is specifically requested in rental instructions). We did see geckos and cockroaches ( these we saw daily especially after returning in the evening) in the unit, but if you're familiar with island living, you know this IS part of island life especially in multi-family housing where you can't control the cleanliness of your neighbors. I was a little annoyed at having to pick up and drop off keys from the owner's home (it's a tiny detour on the way to the condo from the airport). However, Turtle Bay has key fob entry parking for the condo and with late arrival and early leaving this really is more convenient than any other option, and seriously, it's a tiny detour--not a big deal at all! I did feel like I lost a portion of my last day there to laundry as the owner requests all towels to be washed before you leave and our flight left super early our last day so everything needed to be done the day before. The washer and dryer is a small stackable unit, so it took a couple loads. Requiring this though, laundry detergent is provided and that's a nice bonus too. Cathy was very communicative and responsive--as stated before, we'd definitely stay again!

This trip has been in the making since before Covid hit and we finally made it. The residence was perfect for our family and away from all the crazy crowds. The unit was very spacious and clean and had everything we needed. We will absolutely be back again and highly recommend for families. Thanks Cathy!!!

The location and commune were awesome! Everything is just a short drive away. The house had pretty much everything we needed. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is that there were roaches and the stove only had one burner that worked. So, breakfast took a while to make for 7 people. Other than that, it was a fantastic stay.

We had some problems with this rental. When we arrived, we had to pick up the keys from the owner’s mailbox a 5-10 minute drive away, which was a little odd but not a huge deal. After we settled in, we realized we were short a towel and couldn’t get the fan in the master bedroom to work. It was advertised as a rental for up to seven people so we expected seven towels. We reached out to the owner, and she responded that she wouldn’t provide an extra towel nor help with the fan (just said “hope you figured it out”). There were also quite a few cockroaches and even a lizard behind the fridge that we came across in the rental during our stay, and the appliances really need updating (especially the stove, which was very old and only had 3 functional burners). As part of the checkout procedure, the owner also asked that we wash and dry all towels before leaving. The washer was quite small so this required several loads and kept us tied to the condo on our last morning, which was frustrating. This was our first VRBO ever that didn’t take care of the laundry but expected it to be washed and dried by the renter. Finally, after we left, we were charged a hefty fine for “not returning the keys.” We had left them on the counter and locked the rental behind us, which is pretty standard procedure for VRBO. On the checkout sheet within the condo there were no alternate instructions given. We asked her to refund the charge. She responded that she had explained the procedure to return the keys by driving them back to her house where we picked them in a check-in email she had sent a while back. After a bit of digging I finally found it mentioned in parenthesis in the middle of driving directions she gave to the condo. We again asked her to refund the charge as we did not take the keys with us but left them within her unit. We also suggested that she make these unusual key instructions more clear to future clients (put it on the check out instruction sheet, send an email closer to check out with specific check out instructions, and/or even put this information on the description in the listing). She has not responded. On the plus side, the mattresses were very comfortable, the location was great, the beach toys were appreciated (especially the umbrella, boogie boards, and chairs), and it was nice that there were some basic condiments and seasonings in the kitchen.

This condo is great! It’s walking distance to the beach. It was clean. The neighborhood was quiet. My family enjoyed the pool in the evenings.
